Wonderful as both a macro and a telephoto. As a macro, the stand off distance is helpful in getting light to the subject.

I bought this lens a few months ago. I have been using it for some nature photography and it is a very nice lens. Very sharp. I'm a little spoiled and do miss the autofocus but this makes me set up the picture more carefully so I like it. Very sharp images.

Well constructed with excellent resolution. Has manual focus but auto aperture. The tripod mount of the lens is a great help with macro shots. The focusing is smooth with plenty of turning radius. The only drawback for me is that with the lens attached to my Canon 80D the battery depletes rapidly even if the camera is turned off.

It's an amazing lens, sharp, nice colors, and really versatile. Only down side is no image stabilization, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I highly recommend this lens for anyone interested in macro photography. It's sharp, easy to use, and very well constructed -- not to mention beautiful. It *can* also be used for portraits, but bear in mind it's manual-focus-only with a very narrow depth of field. A bit heavy for handheld shots, but no more so than other lenses in its class.

I got this because I am kind of tired of using extension tubes. 150mm is a good focal length and f/2.8 lets in a lot of light. It is manual focus, which makes shooting handheld a bit difficult as the focus depth is very shallow when close up to a subject. This will be much better with a tripod and focus stacking. It arrived from Adorama as promised in good packaging. The lens and accessories were in good shape. There is currently not a lightroom correction profile for this lens, but it really doesn't need much correction. A couple of days after it arrived, I had a chance to go out in the morning to some bright yellow flowers where I new some bees would be and take a few shots. This was all handheld with little breeze. The attached images were shot with a Nikon D750 and have very little cropping (mainly just a square crop). For the price, I really don't have a complaint. The Nikon 200mm macro with auto-focus is nearly three times what this lens costs. I would say that it is a good value.

Sharp, Rock-solid, Beautiful

Modern and versatile macro telephoto lens designed for full-frame high-resolution DSLR cameras. Its large aperture of f/2.8 facilitates shorter exposure times, while its moderately long focal length of 150mm provides an excellent compromise between the narrow viewing angle desired in advertising and portrait photography, and the convenience of hand-held photography. The unique feature of the Irix 150mm f/2.8 lens is the 1:1 Macro reproduction ratio already available at a focusing distance of 0,345m.
The lens is equipped with an aperture mechanism consisting of 11 aperture blades with a rounded shape which provides a pleasant blur of background and points of light. High precision of focusing across the entire range is ensured by a wide, rubber-coated focus ring with a rotational angle of 270 Degree. An additional Focus Lock ring ensures that the focus position remains fixed when needed.
The Irix 150mm f/2.8 Macro 1:1 is the first lens available in the new Dragonfly series, which combines the lightness and perfect ergonomics of the Firefly and the durable magnesium housing used in the Blackstone.
