Got this for the long lens for use while on a bicycle. Picture quality ok, as good as it gets in a long lens compact. If all was looking for was quality, I would take my S95....but this Samsung has reach.

This camera takes good pictures in natural light and the dual IS really helps when you are going to the full range of the zoom lens. The manual options are also good to have when you want to make slight adjustments that would not be made correctly in full auto. A big down side is that this camera is SLOW. Images take forever to process so if you are taking fast moving images, this is not the camera to use. My wife's old Canon point and shoot was much faster and image quality was slightly better. Indoor or low light images don't come out very clear and if you bump up the ISO, they are REALLY grainy. Another downside is the flash location. If you hold the camera as you would any point and shoot and use the flash, the knuckle of your right middle finger blocks the right side of the flash. As a result, images on the left are brighter than on the right. You have to hold the camera with the thumb and index finger of each hand for better images using the flash.

I gave the camera to a friend, practically handed it to her as she was embarking the plane for a vacation to Thailand. She was able to more or less figure things out without the manual, and she was extremely pleased with the camera afterwards!

After researching quite a bit, I finally decided on this Samsung camera. I wanted to make an upgrade on megapixels and zoom capabilities, but I also was not wanting to have much of an increase in my camera's actual size. I knew that I wanted something that was powerful, but still compact. This one is slightly larger than your average point and shoot, but it has great zoom ability. (15X optical) This is exactly what I wanted to use for travel. It takes excellent wildlife and nature photos, and I also got really great close-ups on things. I used the setting that automatically identifies which scene mode should be used and it worked great. It took wonderful night photos as well. I shot a lot in the very colorful South Beach area in the evening, and I must say, the photos came out almost better than it looked in person. Very impressive. The only downside that I can point out is that there is a bit of a delay to wait for the flash to be ready. But overall, for the price, I would highly recommend this camera.

The Samsung HZ30W comes with plenty of features to help you get the best shot possible. 14 megapixels and a 15x optical zoom help you capture every detail and the large 3.0'' LCD screen makes sure you can take and edit your photos in a snap. The perfect portrait system does all the work for you, to make sure your photos are beautiful. Plus, with digital image stabilization, photos are crystal clear, not blurry.
