When i first picked up the FE 200-600 from Wex in Leeds UK i couldn't wait to pop it onto my A6700. Quick read of the manual regarding the mode switches and i was straight out in the garden. The main thing is getting used to the extra weight and how to hold and adjust the very quick zoom etc. once you build up the muscle memory it becomes a great carry around lens and a joy to use. I am getting some very sharp images of small birds and some lovely distance architecture shots as well. The image stabilisation is very good when the correct mode is switched on and once connected to a tripod or monopod it becomes very stable and again a joy to use.

It is the first telephoto zoom I have ever had. I use it to photograph the moon and am a very new amateur photographer. Even with my limited experience I can say this lens is great!

I recently bought this lens and as with all my Sony lenses, it is living up to my expectations. My main use for this is to capture birds in flight. As I am getting used to it, it is becoming better and better. I will let the images speak for me. Most of the following were taken at distances between 50 and 150mtrs.

I purchased this lens and it has travelled with me four times to Costa Rica for bird photography. I find the lens sharp with good colour rendition. I also have used the lens for shooting the solar eclipse and moon shots. Overall I am happy with the lens and have no complaints.

Initial uncertainty around 200-600mm vs 100-400mm...and the extra weight issues! Important admission...I'm a birder...NOT a bird photographer. I simply wanted a camera/lens that would get me great record shots, in most situations. So glad I went for the 200-600mm! The extra 'reach' is amazing...as is the image quality; even in quite difficult conditions. The weight issue is quite minor... as it's easy to carry with a Black Rapid Strap... Hand-holding the camera/lens combo has not been problemmatic...for still, active & BIF. I've been using it for a few weeks now...protected with LensCoat cover...no issues thus far! Delighted I chose the 200-600mm...it was excellent value for money & giving great results.

I just switched from Canon to Sony. I purchased the 200-600mm lens and I love it. It's a little heavy but it is worth its weight as it produces beautiful images. I've included a before and after to show the potential of this lens!

The lens is work the money. It is sharp and fast at focusing on whatevery you put on it. I am very happy with it. It is a day time use lens. Yes with better bodies now you can get away with less light. It does not compare to a 4.0 or 2.8f lens. It is not intended for a night time High School football game unless you are willing to accept some noise from the high ISO you will be forced to use. During the day, awesome lens! It is really fun to use because it really pulls the subject in close. It is not to heavy but for a long shoot I will use a monopod. It is a very nice lens and worth the money.

The Sony SEL200600G is an excellent super-telephoto zoom lens that offers a great combination of image quality, features, and handling. It is a versatile lens that is well-suited for a variety of photography genres. Pros: Versatile zoom range Fast and quiet autofocus Effective image stabilization Weather-sealed construction Impressive image quality Cons: Relatively large and heavy Expensive

I have been using this lens mostlt for wildlife photography, especially birds in flight, sometimes with the Sony 1.4x teleconverter. The results are superb. Very sharp, even when wide open. Focussing is very fast and accurate. I print A2+, the prints are pin sharp. Overall, an excellent lens that is not too heavy and is when designed for ease of handling.

Brought this a month ago. Its a bit on the heavy side, but solidly built. The 200-600mm range is ideal for wildlife and birds photography. I use it with my Alpha 1 and it works the focus works seamlessly. I am also looking at the Sony 14-35mm G to cover landscape photography.

I am a novic photographer, I love my point and shoot wildlife photos. My partner treated me for Christmas with this lense and I have yet to test its full capabilities but so far I am really impressed with this lense. It is larger than I would normally use but I have invested in a monopole which helps with holding and stability. Great photos ans zoom on this lense. 100% recommended for any keen photographer whether novic or pro.

The image quality from this lens is excellent and autofocus is good. I'm pleasantly surprised that it's not bad at all to carry (with a good strap) in spot of how big and heavy it is.

Bought this for going on Safari , but bought early so I could get a few trips out to use and review my shots, must say I feel like I am able to capture far away animals and birds like never before, it is heavier than any previous equipment but imagine that's the price of quality, still need to remember to up the shutter speed when at full length and believe that it's best used with a monopod for stability

This lens has been fantastic even in low light situations like woodland tree cover or forests. The 95mm filter makes it easy to get filters and the weight of the lens isn't a issue.

I've been using this levs for a couple of months and taken some truly fantastic photos. It's good either on a tripod or hand held. My photos have included a variety of birds, both birds of prey and in my garden.

The lens is everything I expected, solid construction and great image quality. The only downside being the carry strap with is the same strap as my a7cr, which is not sufficient or comfortable for a lens of this size and weight. As the lens is quite expensive I think it is a little mean of sony not to supply a more substantial strap. A purchased a peak design strap and discarded the sony strap.

This lens is so versatile and the fact it has an internal zoom with keeps it sealed from dust and weather and with effortless and fast change from 200-600 is fantastic for moving subjects and the biggest bang you will get for your money from any lens! its that good I brought 2!

Great optics. Heavier and longer than I anticipated perhaps should've gotten the 100-400 with 1.4 extender

This lens is very sharp even at 600mm unlike some other makes. This is very important as this is the only focal length that you may need to crop into the image at for wildlife etc.

Like most of us, I did the research - best long zoom for my A7iv! Obvious 2 were the 100-400 and this. Having my used a 70-200 with 2x teleconverter (which wasn't bad at all), I decided on the reach of the 600, with some hesitation after reading how good the 100-400 was. I needn't have worried. G lens for a reason, the lens is sharp across all the zoom range and at 600 and cropping in, I'm really pleased with the IQ. Build is amazing - if a little heavy, but you soon get into it. Feels like money well spent, so highly recommended!

Bought for motorsport and wildlife. Happy so far with the bird photography but no motorsport yet due to Covid rules. Unfortunately the 1.4x TC won't fully function with my 7Riii. Hoping SONY do a firmware update to rectify the issue. Works well with the 7iii and results are superb.
Finally a long zoom for Sony!

This lens just came out, and I have just had it a few days, but I am so excited to review it! I am coming from the Sigma 150-600c with the MC-11 converter, which worked well, but was very slow to focus, and missed focus much of the time. As a wildlife shooter this meant many lost moments. I love Sony cameras, but was jealous of friends that had fast focusing lenses at over 400mm. I am using the 200-600 on my a6500, and it is night and day! The autofocus speed feels just as fast as my Sony 24...

Sony's DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) system has the power and precision needed to drive the lens's mechanism for remarkably fast, accurate focusing. High positioning accuracy means that no movement is wasted. Pinpoint autofocus is achieved with blazing speed. The DDSSM system is incredibly quiet, too.
An inner zoom mechanism means that the length of the lens does not change while zooming, for stable handheld operation with consistent balance. Customizable focus hold buttons are provided in three locations 90° apart for easy access when shooting in any orientation. A fluorine front element coating plus a dust and moisture-resistant design ensure high reliability in challenging environments.
Become a master of telephoto photography with the FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS Lens for Sony E, a powerful addition to Sony's G Lens series. This super-telephoto zoom lens is designed with Sony's most innovative lens technologies, delivering superior image quality, high-performance autofocus, and exceptional control.
Ideal for capturing moving subjects like birds, wildlife, or athletes in motion, this lens pairs seamlessly with the latest, fastest E-mount camera bodies for reliable tracking and accurate capture. Its extended reach, bolstered by built-in stabilization, offers a versatile tele-zoom range from 200mm telephoto to 600mm super-telephoto.
The lens is compatible with Sony's E-mount 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters, extending the reach to a maximum of 840mm at F9 or 1200mm at F13, without compromising image quality or AF performance. The built-in optical stabilization features three different mode settings, ensuring sharp, in-focus images at extended super-telephoto focal lengths.
Experience high resolution and corner-to-corner sharpness throughout the entire zoom range, thanks to five extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements and an aspherical element arranged in a new optical design that minimizes chromatic aberration. The 11-blade circular aperture mechanism ensures beautiful bokeh, while Sony's original Nano AR coating suppresses unwanted reflections, glare, or ghosting in images.
The lens is equipped with Sony's Direct Drive SSM (DDSSM) focusing system, providing the power and precision needed for remarkably fast, accurate focusing. The advanced focus system operates exceptionally quietly, avoiding any unwanted noise that can disrupt wildlife subjects.
Enjoy reliable and stable handheld shooting with the internal zoom mechanism. The overall lens length remains consistent while zooming, maintaining a steady balance and distance between the front of the lens and your subject. The fixed-length structure retains high resistance to dust and moisture, making it suitable for challenging outdoor conditions.
Refined control and reliability are at your fingertips with the focus ring featuring Linear Response MF for fine, responsive manual focus control. Three customizable focus-hold buttons and a Focus Range Limiter add to the user-friendly design. The lens is also dust and moisture-resistant, and features a fluorine coating on the front element to resist dirt and fingerprints, making it a durable and versatile choice for field use.
