Kit S : Will this work with the Sony a5000?KATHEE T : I don't think so. This lens has an "a" mount. I think the a5000 uses an "e" mount.PATRICK H C : I use my 30mm macro on an a55 slr. I looked at the sony website and it appears that you have to use an adapter to use a-mount lenses on e-mount cameras. Sorry, that's as close as I can get to an answer.
Jesus M : Can someone confirm that this lens fits into my Sony Alpha 37 camera mount?WAEL E : Your Sony a37 Camera has Lens Compatibility for Sony A-mount lenses. The lens you're thinking to buy should clip on without issues becasue it has the same Mount configuration. I bought it recently for my Alpha-77 and is giving me excellent trouble free resultsPATRICK H C : Jesus, I am using the lens on a A55. I believe all of the Alpha series cameras share the same mount. BTW I am very happy with the lens. At 45mm equivalent it makes a nice normal with macro capabilities.LIONEL G : Yes, Any Alpha Mount Lens will with your A37 DSLRALI T : Yes.

I use it on an A33 DSLR. Great closeup picture.JAMES D : It fits any Sony/Minolta Alpha Lens Mount. I use it on an A33. Works great. Nice for close-ups, esp. bugs and flowers. JimPATRICK H C : Hi Carol, Since I use the 30 on a a55 body I was not sure about your question so I looked on the sony website and it does say that the lens is compatible with the older a bodies. I can tell you that I am very happy with the lens. It is compact, and sharp. It works well as a normal lens, and quite well as a macro. Hope this helps. Patrick

Great value Sony macro lens!

This lens was everything I was hoping it would be for my photography hobby. I really enjoy taking pictures and was looking for something that would allow me to take close-ups of flowers and food, and to get a better picture than I was getting with my all-around lens. This does the trick, and for the price it is more than I expected. I also enjoy the free extras that were included with the lens - especially the filter. Thanks to Adorama for great customer service and a quick delivery.

EXCELLENT IN MACRO MODE

THIS IS AMBOUT THE FINEST MACRO LENSES ON THE MARKET IN IT'S CLASS...........HOWEVER, IT IS USED FOR CLOSE WORK, MEANING YOU MUST BE VERY VERY CLOSE TO WHAT YOU WANT TO PHOTOGRAPH........WITHIN 5 FEET.........WHEN USED AS A WIDE ANGLE IT IS ONLY A FAIR LENS , BUT AS A CLOSE UP MACRO YOU CAN NOT BEAT IT.....NO GOOD IF YOUR SUBJECT MOVES BECAUSE YOU MUST GET CLOSE.....STRICKLY FOR NON MOVEABLE OBJECTS........I OWN ONE AND I USE THE AUTO FOCUS IN MACRO MODE, NO PROBLEM.......I USE IT TO COPY TYPE WRITTEN PAGES AND PUBLISHED PHOTOS I WANT FOR MY OWN USE.......

Deeply disappointing.

Only been on my A77 about four times and the focussing mechanism failed to work. so at the moment it ia a paperweight at best. Just have to find time to send it to be repaired as I believe it is out of warranty.

Great all-around lens!

I had been in the market for a macro lens when I found this little beauty. For such a low price, I was blown away by the quality of the images it was giving me. I've used it for everything from portraits to landscapes to macro. It's rarely been taken off my camera since I've gotten it! If you're looking for a flexible lens but don't have the money to spend on one, this is your best choice... if you can stand a noisy AF.

PEOPLE KNOW NOT WHAT THEY TALK ABOUT

THIS LENS IS MADE FOR THE APS-C BODY FRAME…..IT DOES NOT BECOME A 45MM WHEN IT IS ATTACHED TO A APS-C CAMERA BODY, IT BECOMES AS IT IS MARKED…..30MM……….GREAT MACRO LENS AS LONG AS YOUR SUBJECT DOESN'T MOVE…...

In the market for a good macro lense

I am looking for a good macro lens that I can also use as a prime lens. I read a lot of reviews on this particular lens, and they're mostly all great reviews. I know that with this lens you can get as close as about 4 inches to your subject, but what is the maximum focal length? How far away can I get from my subject and still get a crisp, clear photo? Thanks.

Check Adorama's Used Equipment

I purchased this lens from Adorama's used equipment site for a much reduced price over what a new lens would have cost me. It isn't Sony's best macro lens but suits my purposes well. Adorama has a rating system for its used equipment, so you get an excellent idea what condition the equipment is in. This lens was in perfect condition.

Great Little Lens

I have had the lens for almost a month. It is a great lens for the price. I would spend $100-$200 more for this lens. I would highly recommend this lens for all levels of photographers. I use it on my SLT A55 camera. I bought this so that I could have a lens that would get me as close to a 50MM lens on a full frame camera. It gets the job done and does it very well.

Dual Purpose walkaround lens!

Given its price I can't complain the DT 30mm 2.8 isn't one bit disappointing. its super light and can be put in your side pocket. I dont mind the plastic build quality as the IQ, Sharpness and quick focus is very good. Plus the focal length on APS-C turns 45mm which is great for an everyday lens. Bokeh may not be as smooth n creamy as the 50mm 1.8 but is descent. It doubles up as a macro too. I have captured some nice photos of flowers and even car details. Those of you who already have a 50mm i suggest to buy this lens for your prime collection. Its an essential.

Good Macro Lens For The Price

This is a very good little lens! The Images come out sharp and you don't really need a tripod for every macro shot that you take. The build quality is on the low side, as it does feel a bit plasticy and cheap, but I don't have any fears of breaking it. Plus it's practically a steal when you look at the price.

Great Lens for the Price

I've had this lens for almost a year and I love it. It takes very good photos for the price and is surprisingly durable. It has been wet and been exposed to sand and has not been affected. My favorite thing to shoot with macro lenses are flowers and this lens has not failed me. This lens is a great starter Macro lens and is good to learn Macro photography on. However, the focusing beyond 6' is a little sketchy and the SAM seems to be a little slower than I'd like. The durability of this lens is great given it's made of plastic. All in all I would definitely recommend this lens to someone who's new to DSLR photography or someone who isn't ready to buy a higher-priced Macro lens.

I think this lens is great! It's a perfect companion to my 18-55 and 75-300 lenses, especially when you want to get in EXTREMELY close to the subject. I could focus on something closer than I thought I could with this lens. It has a great bokeh effect as well. I have no complaints at all about this product, however, it is plastic, but I'm sure it's very durable. Metal or plastic, I'd still take care of my accessories and lenses well. I'd recommend this lens to ANYONE who is starting out doing macro photography, or even portraits, and it's great for the price!

High quality with some reservations

For macros, this lens provides great image quality. You do a lot of shots handheld, due to the very short 30mm length. However, this lens will mostly need to be used for stationary object macro shots, as the close distance will scare almost any living thing away. The SAM seems to work OK, but does not seem to be much faster than the original screw drive mechanism. Surely it will provide advantages with the new NEX line of cameras. The build quality is not as great as some of the other lenses in the lineup, but it is only $200 - which makes it a great deal for the money, but *ONLY* if you are using it for macro shots and photos at close distances. Autofocus becomes very (and consistently) inaccurate beyond 6 feet, which is the major (perhaps only) reason that I would not recommend this lens.

a fantastic addition to the lineup

I've only had this for a short while but it's rapidly becoming my 'go to' lens. With a view the equivalent of 45mm , its a great walk around lens with the added bonus of being a macro. I don't have to switch lenses to get close, its got great color and sharpness. For the price its fantastic!
