An upgrade on the original excellent lens. The weight-saving is a nice bonus but the real selling point was the ability to close focus on friendly wildlife. I no longer have to worry about animals coming too close to manage in-focus pictures. Pictures of a squirrel taken yesterday and a vixen taken today; both full-frame.

The 70-200mm F2.8 GSM11 lens used on my A7R mk11 is just a brilliant! combination and I wouldn't be with out it now. So far with sharp images captured everytime aided by inbuilt stabilisation.

No buyers remorse on this one. Yes the $2999.99 price tag is a high one but this is one quality piece of glass. I use this lens all the time but I purchased it for concert photography and it performs great in low light. Great image quality, fast auto focus, nice build and lightweight too. I've attached two concert examples. Great lens...I would love to own it's 300mm brother!!

I use this lens on my A99, and shoot it at f2.8 or 4 whenever possible. It's tack sharp, from f4 on down, and f2.8 is as sharp or sharper than either the new Canon or Nikon 24-70 f2.8. This is also an excellent portrait lens for in the field (I use its shorter Zeiss counterpart in the studio), but it is large and heavy. The color rendition, contrast and sharpness of this mid-tele rivals that of several primes due to its new coatings. Flare and CA are non-existent. The weather-sealing is excellent, and tempts you to take it into the rain-forest (and make you trek with it for hours) for some awesome images. The autofocus is silent and near-instant, great for sports tracking, hot-air balloons, concerts. This is a top-notch hunk of glass that will render images as well or better than what you can imagine, but it is very heavy. Exceptionally well made.
