A great little starter lens and kit. It's a solid basic "clean" lens. It shoots clearly and is a solid entry level Sony lens. And it works just fine for what it is with my Alpha a7RV even at high resolution. I purchased it for street photography because I didn't want to worry about damaging a GM lens. The rest of the kit is based on solid house branded and branded products. And all of them work well. The best part of this kit is obviously the price. Buy a lens, and you basically get the rest for free. Thanks Adorama!

Fast and reliable focusing, feels light (and much lighter than competing 1.4 lenses). While I have not tested quality vs. competing 85 1.4 lenses, this handles great and is much cheaper, so I feel like I made a good call by saving money and going for this lens.

Purchased this lens for my girlfriend as a Christmas gift, we decided to open one gift early and she chose the box with this lens in it, she absolutely loves it, did not put her camera down for two days. Images are sharp and with the included filters, taking photos in the sun was easy. She got blue skies and vibrant colors while achieving Bokeh without the need for additional reflectors when taking test photos of me. I?m dark skin by the way, if you?re deciding between this and the G Master, you can?t go wrong with this purchase unless you absolutely need the extra stop that the G master gives you.

I love this lens. Super sharp, lightweight. Throw this and the 35mm, F2.8 Zeiss in your bag and you can tackle a ton of shooting scenarios and still have a lighter bag than a single f2.8 zoom in the same range.

I was looking for a sharp lens for a beach photo shoot in overcast weather, the Sony FE 85mm performed perfectly. Shot with a Sony A7rII the detail was superb, even when cropped.
