Great camera. The only thing that would make this perfect is if it had the newer articulating screen. I have used it for sports, portraits and weddings. The ultimate camera

Consider thIs a " magic camera"! It is a combination of the a9 and the a7R4 and does everything very , very well! It does have an Achilles heel, however, in that if the sun hits the eye piece directly ( like if the sun is coming from over your shoulder) the camera shuts down for a minute. You can wear a big hat or other wise try to shade the eyepiece from the sun to avoid this problem.

Honestly, great camera for sports photographers, maybe even nature If your a professional? but for portrait photographers, this is over kill. Stick to the sony a7 rIV for a third of the cost and more megapixels to work with?

I absolutely adore this thing. Using my A7c is so painful now that I'm used to the OS speed of the A1. Best six grand I've ever spent - honest.

It?s an amazing camera- sharp and responsive. The 8k video quality without the heating issue is out of this world and doesn?t really bog down your workflow as I had anticipated. Great buy will get a lot of value from this camera for. Long time to come!

This is the most expensive camera I have ever have and I don't know enough to say if the price is worth it. But so far from my experience, its performance is impeccable and I'm very happy with the purchase. Besides the camera itself, which there are many expert reviews online, Adorama's service was great. I placed the order the Saturday before the Thanksgiving. And the package was on the way the night of Sunday. Initially I was a bit worried about how soon can it be shipped since it was close to the holiday, but my concern proved unnecessary. I will certainly keep this in mind for future purchases.

I left Nikon to Sony because of the a1. It?s the best camera I?ve used in over 30 years as a photographer. I like it so much I have two of them :-)

The A1 is a seachange in photography for me. I?m coming from over 45 years as a professional shooting 4x5 Sinar, Hasselblad?s and Nikon exclusivly. The Nikon d5 stays at home now in favor of the new Sony A1. I won?t go through the specs but it does everything it?s promised to do and more.

The a1 has no pier. It?s an incredible camera! I bought one to try and was so impressed I bought a second a1 with full set of lenses and sold all of my Nikon gear.

Fantastic camera! I?m amazed at the bird eye focus and high frame rate! This camera helps me capture images I?ve dreamed of: butterflies in flight and Osprey diving for a fish. As I?m getting older I need the extra help this camera provides. So glad I invested in such amazing technology! @lizmjphoto

This camera is a beast. Fast and furious with great autofocus for birds, animals and humans. The AF is not 100 percent but it?s much more accurate then the Sony A7R4 in that respect. With only a little sacrifice in quality compared to it.

All I can say is that I love this camera. Sony listened and corrected all the issues that were complained about. It is everything they say it is and more.

This is the best Camera I have ever used. You can read the reviews yourself and watch videos, but the speed of the tracking and the improvements in eye AF, as well as low light capabilities make it head and shoulders above any thing else out there. I took one star off for the cost. Adorama had the camera at my door 3 days after I ordered it. The shipping is the best I?ve used.

My first camera ever with no compromises
By Winsome I.
Simply put, this is the only camera I've ever bought where I didn't think, even while unboxing, it's so great, but I still wish it did [____]. Yes, this search for gear perfection is exacerbated by being a hybrid stills/video shooter. But even if the A1 just fulfilled one or the other of those functions this well it would still be extraordinary. Doing both so well AND concurrently? It's like sci-fi. Re stills, 50 megapixels is IMO the sweet-spot for full frame. The A1's new sensor re...

Love the Sony a1. The images are fantastic and the AF is great. It is amazing to see how good the AF-Birds Eye Mode functions with birds in flight. I'm looking forward to learning more about the functionality of the extensive setting possibilities for my photography, but am already feeling comfortable with the camera with the custom key settings I have made. It's the most expensive camera I've ever purchased but I am thrilled that I did.
About The Alpha 1 Mirrorless Camera
Under the umbrella of Sony's innovative technology, the Alpha 1 Mirrorless Camera stands as a testament to the brand's commitment to high-resolution, high-speed performance. This camera is a game-changer, boasting a 50.1-megapixel full-frame stacked Exmor RS image sensor. This sensor enables up to 30 fps continuous shooting with up to 120 AF/AE calculations per second, making it a powerhouse for creators looking to capture unprecedented detail and speed.
The Alpha 1 is equipped with a newly developed stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor, integrated with memory and paired with an upgraded BIONZ XR imaging processing engine. This combination allows for the capture of 50.1-megapixel images at an astounding 30fps, with up to 120 AF/AE calculations per second.
The camera's shooting capabilities are further enhanced by a 9.4 million dot OLED Quad-XGA electronic viewfinder, with a refresh rate of up to 240 fps, ensuring no blackout. For the first time in an Alpha series camera, 8K 30p 10-bit 4:2:0 video is available, along with 4K 120p 15 10-bit 4:2:2 recording and S-Cinetone color.
The Alpha 1 is not just about high-speed performance; it's also about efficiency. It supports field professionals with faster workflow, including 3.5x faster wireless FTP transfer speed and more. The full-frame Exmor RS image sensor delivers an overwhelming combination of resolution and speed with 50.1 effective megapixels in a stacked CMOS architecture with integral memory.
The Alpha 1's high-speed readout from the 50.1-megapixel image sensor makes it possible to shoot up to 30 full-frame images per second, using the electronic shutter, with full AF (auto focus) and AE (auto exposure) tracking up to an astonishing 120 calculations per second.
The Alpha 1 incorporates the next generation BIONZ XR image processing engine which performs 8x faster processing compared to the BIONZ X processing engine found on previous models. This engine handles all of AF, image recognition, image quality adjustments, development, and more in real time, minimizing processing latency while markedly boosting still image and movie processing power.
The Alpha 1 offers a range of selectable continuous shooting speeds: 20, 15, 10, or 5 fps assignable to the Hi, Mid, and Lo drive modes. Continuous shooting is fixed at 30 fps in the Hi+ mode. This makes it easier to set a continuous shooting speed that best suits the subject and shooting environment, while an expanded range of speed and compression combinations offers new flexibility.
The Alpha 1 also features a silent electronic shutter, providing greater opportunities for shooting sports and other subjects where noise is not tolerated. Vibration-free operation contributes to high image quality. Fast sensor readout minimizes still-image distortion when using the electronic shutter. The BIONZ XR engine and a large buffer achieve about 1.5x less distortion than the a9 II.
The camera also supports high frame-rate internal 4K movie recording at up to 120fps, for smooth, expressive slow-motion playback at up to 5x. 10-bit 4:2:2 chroma subsampling can be used with Long-GOP or Intra (All-I) compression for outstanding image quality, while the new image sensor and BIONZ XR engine minimize image distortion.
The Alpha 1 includes the same S-Cinetone color matrix that produces beautiful color and skin tones in the VENICE, FX6, and other Cinema Line cameras. S-Cinetone delivers natural mid-tones that are essential to healthy-looking skin color, plus soft colors and gorgeous highlights, responding to a growing need for more expressive depth.
In summary, the Sony Alpha 1 Mirrorless Camera is a technological marvel, designed to deliver high-resolution, high-speed performance in a compact, user-friendly package. It's the perfect tool for professional photographers and videographers who demand the best from their equipment.
The lens incorporates three XA (extreme aspherical) elements, a testament to Sony's cutting-edge optical simulation and manufacturing technology. These elements, combined with the Nano AR coating II, contribute to high-contrast, high-resolution results. This ensures corner-to-corner sharpness and dramatically reduces chromatic and spherical aberration, flare, and ghosting, enhancing the overall image quality.
A unique feature of the FE 50mm f/1.2 G Master Lens is its floating focus mechanism. This advanced feature maintains full resolution throughout the image area, from infinity to close focus, providing consistent, sharp images regardless of your subject's distance.
Whether you're capturing breathtaking landscapes, detailed portraits, or engaging in general-purpose photography, the FE 50mm f/1.2 G Master Lens offers unparalleled versatility. Its reliable performance and professional-grade capabilities make it an essential tool for photographers seeking to elevate their craft.
