Considering the price point it is a great product. With all the necessary features of a mirrorless. Sony's autofocus works great even with third party lenses. Plastic build and light. Only complain is the batterylife.

I bought it 3 months ago and have been truly impressed how well this camera performs. It is so easy to operate and there is proper community support behind it so it gets easy learning all the bits of photography. Only drawback is there is no stabilization when recording videos.

I bought this very recently, still learning. I am already very happy with the quality of photos. Have not tried that much of video recording.

I did not like the kit lens. I am a first time camera buyer and I did not know that kit lenses are usually not that good. So I felt a bit cheated.

Not long had my a6100 twin lens kit and only been out twice with it. 1st time at motorsport event - great for the closer shots, only downfall, I was told the bigger lens would capture the shots my phone couldn't. Unfortunately, my phone has a much better zoom and still get the quality I was after. Great for objects nearer.

This is my 1st SLR since my film one (not used for years !). So back to being a newbie . Took some good shots straight away. Still practicing with all the options. I did some research between models. I would very much recommend this model. Yes I could have spent loads more and not necessary got better pictures

Fantastic camera I love everything about it. The only problem I had was getting the app to connect to the camera, but I finally resolved this by changing a setting on my phone. The app could definitely do with being updated as its not very user friendly.

as the title says, Buy The a6400 if you are focused on video more than focused on photography as this camera is lacking a lot of features that are needed for good post production value. I made the mistake of not getting the a6400 which would have suited my needs more, and now im just stuck with this camera as i am not in the position to return and get the a6400. Things such as colour profiles, and the build quality in general to record in different environmental and weather conditions lack on this model. Don't get me wrong, its a great camera, but for my use value, its 1/5. For photography however, easy 5/5.

Camera seems fine but learning to use it is not made easy due to very poor documentation and web site instructions.

Was looking for a small, light camera with apsc sensor that handled well and I could get large prints. The 6100 has proven to be what I was looking for. With dedicated dials for aperture and speed I can quickly select iso or auto iso.I didn't review sound as I only shoot stills.

Getting back into photography again after a long break, I switched from a big DSLR (not Sony) to this model as I wanted to downsize my kit. This is a great camera for an amateur. The picture and video quality is great. For an all-rounder who does a bit of street, landscape, nature and casual family photography, this is great device. I also bought a Sony 50mm lens which has a wider aperture than the kit lens (included with my camera) and I have been very happy with the results. Only note is that this model is not waterproof at all (so in hindsight I should have the A6400), but otherwise a very happy customer!

I been using the Sony a7c but wanted something even smaller, lighter and less expensive. The Sony a6100 is perfect for my needs. The one thing I wish it had was a Minimum shutter speed setting. That way I can tell the camera not to go below a set shutter speed. Other then that This is an amazing camera.

Purchased the Sony A6100 nearly two weeks ago. Great wee camera for street photography I've discovered and a lot of other subjects. It will take me years to outgrow this camera especially with the range of lenses available for it.

Device is perfect, except the battery charging method. We have to keep the whole device for charging battery, that i feel little uncomfortable. It is better to provide a charging adapter.

I bought this camera for my daughter as a graduation present from her art MFA program. She had been researching cameras for months and this is her choice. She will use it to document art and for video projects. Excellent price and arrive very quickly.

I bought this camera for its compact size and the APS-C sensor which is larger than the sensors on bridge cameras. A friend of mine has the A6000 so I knew that the results would be really good. Equipped with the Sony Zeiss 16-70 lens, which gives the 35mm. equivalent range 24-135, you have a camera that will be fine for most occasions. I have wide angle and tele-photo lenses if needed. There are more sophisticated cameras in the Sony A 6 range but you would have to decide if the extra features are worth the cost for you.

Does what I want it to do
By Boblet17
I have in the past had two film SLRs, 2 DSLRs and a number of high-end compacts. I?m not a pro photographer, and I?m not a particularly good photographer, but I do take lots of pictures and avidly process them in photoshop. I know about ISO, f-stops, depth of field and depth of focus. That should give an idea of my knowledge and experience. Before I bought an a6100 I read quite a few reviews: dpreview, techradar, digitalcameraworld and so on. I checked out all the models in my price bracket (...

Sony improves its entry-level camera line with the new a6100 mirrorless digital camera. This lightweight camera features a revised APS-C-format 24.2MP Exmor CMOS sensor with an ISO 100-32000 sensitivity that can be expanded to ISO 51200 when working under low-light conditions. It has an AF speed of 20 milliseconds and 11fps continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking and can record 4K videos in XAAVC S format. It also has 425-phase detection AF points and real-time eye autofocus for stills of numerous subjects. The a6100 has a 1.44m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a rear 3.0" 921.6k-dot touchscreen LCD. It is also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled, allowing for remote camera control as well as wireless file transfers. The Sony Alpha a6100 can be purchased separately or can be purchased with either a 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens or both the 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens and an additional 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS Lens. Enjoy shooting crisp and clear photos or recording various high-quality footage with the new Sony a6100.
Combining the power and innovations of its full-frame offerings into the APS-C family, Sony has just announced two brand new APS-C cameras — the a6600 and the a6100 — as well as two new E-mount lenses — the 16-55mm F2.8 G, and the 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 G OSS.

The Alpha 6100 boasts an impressive APS-C image sensor with approximately 24.2 effective megapixels, the latest BIONZ X™ image processing engine and the same front end LSI as used on Sony’s acclaimed full-frame cameras to deliver outstanding image quality with rich detail and true-to-life color reproduction. Area specific noise reduction results in low noise even at high ISO which ranges from 100 – 32,000 (Expandable up to ISO – 51,200).
The Alpha 6100 incorporates Sony’s unrivaled 4D FOCUS system for unsurpassed fast autofocus (AF) acquisition time that can lock focus on even the fastest moving subject in as little as 0.02 seconds. It also boasts an incredible 425 phase detection and 425 contrast detection AF points that are densely positioned over 84% of the image area, effectively tracking subjects as they move across the frame.
“Real-time Tracking” is a state-of-the-art feature that utilizes a special object recognition algorithm that processes color, subject distance (depth), brightness (pattern) as spatial information, plus AI (Artificial Intelligence with machine learning) information including face and eye location, ensuring that all subjects can be captured with extreme accuracy and precision.
Advanced AI-based subject recognition technology now allows fast, precise, automatic detection and tracking of animal eyes. This new capability can vastly increase success rates when photographing animals in a variety of settings or pets at home.Real-time Eye AF animal mode can be initiated either by pressing an assigned custom button or by half-pressing the shutter button.
Image sensor output is processed in 16-bit form by the front-end LSI and BIONZ X image processing engine before being output as compressed or uncompressed 14-bit RAW files that have smoother, more natural gradations for higher overall image quality. 14-bit RAW output is available even when shooting in silent or continuous mode.
The Alpha 6100 has been designed to allow for high resolution, continuous shooting at high frame rates. It features a front-end LSI that works with the image sensor, BIONZ X image processing engine and a newly designed shutter mechanism with ‘braking feature’ to enable continuous shooting at impressive speeds up to 11fps5 with continuous autofocus and auto-exposure tracking at full 24.2MP resolution.
The Alpha 6100 offers internal 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160) recording3 in Super 35mm format with full pixel readout and no pixel binning at 2.4x oversampling (6K equivalent) for the ultimate 4K footage with exceptional detail and depth. Additional the Alpha 6100 has the ability to record Full HD at 120 fps for up to 5x slow motion HD video and a mic jack with XLR compatibility via the MI shoe, focus peaking, clean HDMI output and much more.
Touch Tracking is beneficial for movie recording. Touch the subject to be tracked on the monitor, and the Real-time Tracking function will then process color, pattern (brightness), distance (depth), and face information to precisely and smoothly track the selected subject at the specified sensitivity and speed. It is also possible to half-press the shutter button or press the AF ON button while shooting to achieve fast focus (AF-S).
Make operation more intuitive, quick and easy. You can assign any of 89 functions to any of 8 custom buttons. Independent function sets can be assigned for stills, movies, and playback. “My Dial” allows for frequently-used functions to be assigned to the control dial and control wheel. The My Menu function allows up to 30 frequently-used menu items to be registered.
Slow and quick motion offers an almost endless variety of creative ways to express the passage of time. Frame rates from 1 fps to 120fps (100fps) can be selected in eight steps for full HD up to 50 Mbps; 60x quick motion/5x slow in NTSC and 50x quick motion/4x slow in PAL.
By using the newly introduced smartphone app Imaging Edge Mobile, high-bitrate movies including 4K can be transferred to smartphones (Probability of transfer / playback depends on the performance of the smartphone). Refer to the product information for Imaging Edge Mobile for details
