Great camera to start with, having big choice of great value used Minolta A mount lenses. You can get a feel for the lenses to suit what type of photography you like to shoot, without breaking the bank! It makes you look like a pro & takes great pictures.

I bought this a month ago so far I like it there?s a lot you can do in camera and I haven?t even experimented with yet. My only problem is that Sony is slow to update its applications for Mac computers, so I?ve yet to be able to download any in camera applications.

I have the a33, the a58 and the a 77 ii. That spoiled me. Sadly, mine is out of commission now and I cannot find a replacement. That, I am told, is due to age. The fit in the hand, placement of buttons, speed and fast focus are wonderful. Would love to have a new one or one close to it that accepts a mount.

I've been shooting with my A7711 since 2013 and totally rely on it's performance. The only recommendation I would forward is the design and layout of the operators manual. I know, with a little effort this issue could be improved. It took me a year to figure out. Not user friendly to say the least. The saving grace is the performance of the A7711. The design engineers did a great job!

Bought this camera 6 months ago. It’s the second Sony camera I have owned. My first was an A37. That camera inspired me to purchase this one. I was not disappointed! It’s easy to use and packed with great technology and features that you would only expect in professional kit. It will sadly be my last Sony though as they have discontinued with the A mount lenses. Because of this I wouldn’t want to recommend it to anyone else which is such a shame as the kit is made up of both lenses and camera. Losing one inevitably means that you are forced to lose the other at great expense. I am sure Sony will ultimately regret that decision.

First off, this is my MOST used "A" Mount Camera. The Fully articulating screen is FANTASTIC! This camera has perfect button layout WITHOUT being heavy. the following photos were taken with super wide angle and a 35 year old Minolta Super Telephoto 300mm 2.8. All photos were taken on a Monopod. All photos were shot @ 1 frame/SEC.

Bought this to upgrade from my old film Minolta A9000i and Sony A100, this camera is so fast and the focussing so precise it makes taking pictures a joy again. As a bonus it allows you to use all your older A Mount Minolta Lenses, brilliant.

Okay, a camera is a tool and what it can do is greatly dependant on the user. No one ever asked Hemingway what brand typewriter he used (actually, he write a lot with a pencil and legal pads!). That being said, I've used a myriad of cameras, both film and digital and the Sony cameras have been my go to camera for years. I like the controls layout, they have been dependable and capable of making excellent photos. I like the 77 II; it is reasonably priced, and with a 24 megapixel sensor, unless you're make wall sized murals, the image resolution is excellent. Since I print no larger than 13X19, I would hazard that the Sony 77 II would stand up to most any multi-thousand dollar camera which images were printed to the same 13x19 size. The camera uses what is almost the ubiquitous alpha mount with a plethora of Minolta & Sony lenses available, making it very flexible, and able to handle 99% of any possible situation the photographer might find themselves in. A worthy investment for the discerning photographer.

It is not easy to do settings for the a77ii because the buttons are not user friendly (I cannot be sure when I try to set the features which part of the page it will run to). I suppose it's a few years old camera with older technology. It's especially difficult to use the joy stick. Other than the above-mentioned the camera is as expected..

I bought this as an update to an a-58, which it is. Main issue is the complete lack of a browsable detail manual which properly explains the many high end features.

I love my new Sony a77. It is a great camera and takes beautiful photos. I replaced a Sony a55 that i had for years and it took great photos but this new a77 is even better as far as capturing my grandbaby’s activities and her hair and skin colors. I also take a lot of photos of my pets and their fur in the photos looks like real life. I hardly use the flash because the camera has captured the lighting and the colors beautifully. And one of the best features is transferring pics from the camera straight to my iPhone so i can share them right away. I also bought this particular bundle because of the extra battery and the lowpro camera bag which i love.

Great buy. I have several A mount lenses that fit this camera and many Minolta accessories that work with it. Also like the wireless features that let me copy photos to my iphone and the ability to use my phone as a remote.

I bought this in conjunction with a Tamron 150-600 lens. The camera was supplied but the lens didn't. I discovered from Tamron that the A-mount version was discontinued, I can't find anything with that focal range with an A-mount. Apparently Sony are moving focus to E-mount hence the lack of lens options. Now have an expensive A77 body with no lens.

Had a Sony apha 100 for several years and it never disappointed me, however I upgraded to the alpha 77II in 2016 and soon after the waranty had passed the lcd screen started to fail and the repair was nearly half the price that I had paid for the camera, so I did not get it fixed. Now the camera is starting to act strangely, the timer sometimes does not work, jumps scene modes... Just did not expect this to happen on such a pricy camera... Good high resolution pictures, quick and accurate focus, burst mode is quite amazing, but very heavy and... unreliable...

A little better than a year ago I purchased this camera (A77ii) because I got a good deal. I was looking at the A68, but couldn't resist the discounted A77ii price. So far I am pleased with the A77ii. Build quality appears good. And the features are impressive. And it's fast. I bought the book (Busch's) and learned a lot. The only negative (besides price) - I would like a little better resolution. The A77ii's crop sensor limitation is apparent. But a full frame A99ii is probably required for what I seek. Unfortunately, at over $3K (!) it'll be a while before I own one of those, unless Sony offers up a deal similar to the discount I got with my A77ii.

I've had this camera for about 2 months. I have been learning the features since I have not had a lot of time to work with the many options. I have enjoyed the quality of the photos I've taken using a simple set up. The camera is easy to setup and use without going overboard. The biggest issue I have is the camera's ability to focus. It is very fast and sometimes focuses on a area I had not expected. I believe as I get more experienced with the camera this will not be an issue. I have used many of my lenses with the camera. I have a collection of Sony, Konica/Minolta and Sigma lenses. All work seamlessly with this camera. I selected this camera for two main reasons. One is the group of lenses I have. The other is the way the camera fits my hands. It just feels right.

I am replacing a Sony a65 with this camera since I already have an investment in Alpha mount lenses. So far I have been very pleased with the a77II. It’s a sturdy and versatile camera with many features and settings. The learning curve is high, but once I get a handle on everything I’m sure it will be worthwhile. Since the supplied documentation is lacking I suggest David Busch’s book on the a77II. It is very detailed, yet easy to follow. My only complaint with the camera is that it is rather large and heavy, I suppose a price to pay for the solid construction and features.

This camera compared with Emount is worthless. It only had 79 point and 1 point is F2.8 sensitive, while the E mount has 399 AF point that coverage 90% area! For still life, it is fine. But the real pain for this camera is it’s mirror that result of 1/3EV light loss, makes its high iso beyond 800 not usable at all! Just too much noise and losses of detail! This camera should be stop production and get upgraded! Not recommend at all unless you are still life with Tripod for ISO100 all the time! But definitely not a choice for sport or wild life due to very very poor ISO!

Superbly flexible, get great results in a wide range of subject matter, lighting conditions and applications. I have used this for wildlife, sports and portrait work and get first class results every time. Particularly like that the viewfinder pretty much displays the result you are going to get.... especially useful in low light and high contrast situations

I bought this A77 Mark 2 as a direct replacement for my life expired A57 which had been a totally reliable unit. The A77 has proven to be the same having now used it for the past three years at a large number of events, its ease of use has continued in the family of Alpha cameras. It has also proven to be a very robust camera in many varied weather conditions, and the A mount has covered a wide range of lenses.

Pros: 1) Upgraded sensor, fully competitive with the new Toshiba sensor in the Nikon 7100/5300 and identical to the high rated chip in the A6000 (presumably minus its phase detection circuitry). Depending on one's metric, between 1/3 and 3/4 stop (more or less) better in terms of noise relative to the 2011 24MP Sony chip in the previous generation A65/77. Combined with improved JPEG engine, a full stop less noise and/or loss of detail in JPEGs. 2) Upgraded autofocus system with 79 PD autofocu...

Great bang for your buck!
By TFLemieux
I just purchased a 77MII about a week ago so I would have a backup camera. I already have owned an SLT-A77 for over a year and love it as well. The 77II has some nice refinements over the original 77. The biggest being the auto focus is now a little faster and more accurate. The new auto focus has more focus points than the old model but it also has a few key features that I feel make it much more effective. 1. You can adjust the depth of field that the camera will focus on. This helps preve...

Never miss a moment with 12fps
The Sony a77II has the world's fastest continuous shooting speed in its class1-up to 12 frames per second at full resolution. Equipped with a 79 point AF sensor and advanced auto focus tracking, technology, you never have to miss a moment. The Sony a77II outperforms even more expensive rivals with continuous auto focus and auto exposure when shooting at 12fps at full 24.3MP resolution and can capture up to 60 frames in a single burst when in JPEG fine setting.
World's Most AF points2- 79-point Phase Detection AF System
The Sony a77II is equipped with a newly developed phase detection auto focus system, featuring wide coverage 79 AF points. Fifteen of the AF points are cross-type and placed in the most-frequently-used central area of the sensor. This helps the Sony a77II achieve accurate focusing even with horizontally striped subjects, which line-type AF points typically find challenging. The new AF system also performs well in low-light conditions-as low as EV -2 (ISO 100), which is similar to a moonlit night under which objects are difficult to see even with the naked eye. The new AF algorithm instantly recognizes and reliably tracks the desired subject. The a77II also realizes impressive focusing accuracy, even when a large-aperture lens is mounted, thanks to the f/2.8 AF point placed horizontally in the center of the AF sensor overlapping another AF point.
24.3 Megapixel Stunning Resolution
The Sony a77II houses a large APS-C sensor with approx. 24.3 effective megapixels for incredible detail and gorgeous enlargements. Its high resolving power adopts the same gapless on-chip lens structure as the 7R and features the latest-generation RGB color filter and other cutting-edge device technologies developed by Sony, the number 1 manufacturer of image sensors. The Sony a77II's image sensor exhibits approximately 20% higher sensitivity and lower noise levels compared to the a77 throughout a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 25,600.
Advanced BIONZ X image processing
The Sony a77II is equipped with the same BIONZ½ x image processing engine as on the top-of-the-line full-frame models-a7 and a7R. This engine achieves approximately three times the processing speed of previous BIONZ and features all the latest image processing technologies, which are optimized for this model. The result is astonishingly high-speed processing capabilities as well as faithfully reproduced textures and amazing definition.
Detail reproduction technology; enhances fine details
Strong outlines a common characteristic of digital images, are minimized as much as possible to achieve finely detailed images with a natural three-dimensional appearance and naturally depicts subjects as seen by human vision. This increases the ability to depict detailed textures and brings photography another step closer to creating totally realistic, high-quality images
Diffraction-Reducing Technology
Diffraction-reducing technology maximizes the optical performance of lenses and produces finer details when shooting with a small aperture setting. Optimal filter processing-that best matches the f-number-is applied to correct image points that are blurred, preventing diffraction effects that become an issue when shooting with a deep depth of field and high pixel count. You can therefore depend on finely detailed images even when shooting with a small aperture setting.
Clean Low Light Images with Low Noise and Area-Specific Noise Reduction
The a77II has a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 25,600 for faster shutter speeds and low-light shooting situations. Combined with detail reproduction technology, area-specific noise reduction effectively suppresses noise and realize high-sensitivity images resulting in fine details and less grain from corner to corner.
Instant Sharing via Smartphone with Build-in Wi-Fi and NFC
Connectivity with smartphones has been simplified with Wi-Fi and NFC control for one-touch sharing. Simply tap the camera to another NFC-enabled device like a tablet or smartphone and photos are transferred with just one touch. Users need only touch devices to connect; no complex set-up is required. Moreover, when using Smart Remote Control, the camera's shutter can be conveniently controlled by your smartphone's touchscreen.
Full HD Movie 1080/60p/60i/24p and Clean Output via HDMI½
Take full control when you shoot HD movies and enjoy the full expressive potential of Program, Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority or Manual (P/A/S/M) control in HD movie mode. Capture spectacular HD movies in your choice of super-smooth 60p, standard 60i or cinematic 24p, all at Full HD 1920x1080 resolution. AVCHD codec delivers stunning picture quality. MP4 codec offers smaller files for easier upload to the web. You also have the option of capturing uncompressed HD to an optional external recorder for super high bitrate via the clean HDMI½ output.
Professional Rugged, Weather-Resistant Magnesium Alloy Body
The a77II is a high-quality, high-precision shooting tool built for the real world with a rugged magnesium alloy body that combines high strength with light weight. Sealing around the main buttons, dials, ports and doors are weather-resistant with a double-layered structure that enhances sealing effectiveness at all camera body openings including the media compartment and terminal area. The same high-level resistance to dust and moisture is maintained even when the camera is mounted with the 16-50mm F2.8 (SAL1650) zoom lens, VG-C77AM vertical shooting grip or HVL-F60M flash.
Exceptions EVF - XGA OLED Tru-Finder
There's never been anything quite like the OLED Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder. For size, speed and brightness even after sunset, this is a gem. It begins with 2,359,296 dots for amazing resolution and high contrast ratio for incredible depth and shows 100% frame coverage. OLED reduces motion blur to a bare minimum. You can also see the results of camera adjustments in real time with superb color and detail, including the ability to display the effects of various camera settings, the use of MF Assist and a peaking function for fine-tuning the focus.
Three-way Tilt and Swivel LCD Screen The a77II incorporates a large 3" TFT
LCD with 1,228,800 dots pixel count for bright high resolution and high contrast display making framing and shooting a breeze --even in harsh lighting situations. Tilt it up or down to frame high and low-angle shots that would otherwise be hit-or-miss. Tilt and swivel over the camera for self-portraits. You can even tilt it up and down when you hold the camera in vertical mode! Finally, the monitor folds flush to the camera with the LCD exposed for shooting or protected for travel.
Full-Time LiveView½ in LCD or EVF You can use both the LCD monitor and OLED
Electronic Viewfinder for composing shots in LiveView. Both provide a what-you-see-is-what-you-get preview of white balance, focus, depth of field, exposure and 100% framing accuracy, plus informative on-screen displays
Every Lens is Stabilized
The a77II incorporates sensor shift technology called SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization. This means every lens you use-from the widest angle to longest telephoto-Is corrected for camera shake and reduces blur, resulting in crisp andsharp images.
Built-in Flash (Guide Number 12)
To help you shoot more effectively, the camera includes a built-in flash (Guide Number 12) that can also trigger a wireless accessory flash (sold separately). The integrated hot shoe enables you to expand your lighting options with a range of accessory flashes (sold separately).
