I've been doing photography since I was a little kid, eons ago. Started with 35mm film, and then went through a dozen digitals. The a7 III is equipped with a newly developed back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, boasting a resolution of 24.2 megapixels. This innovative sensor, combined with the latest BIONZ X image processing engine and front-end LSI, ensures a data readout speed that is two times faster and a data processing capability that is 1.8 times higher. This results in stunning image quality that you would expect only from a full-frame camera.
Experience higher sensitivity and readout speed with the 35-mm full-frame CMOS image sensor. Its back-illuminated structure enhances light collection efficiency, expands circuitry scale, and outputs data at a very high speed, minimizing noise and revealing fine details in every picture. With an extended standard ISO range of 100-51200 (expandable to ISO 50-2048007 for stills), you can shoot at high ISO with no concerns about noise or image deterioration.
The a7 III offers a dynamic range of up to approx. 15 stops, providing smooth gradation from shadow to highlight. This gives you greater freedom of creative imaging. The camera's color reproduction performance is dramatically enhanced, rendering subjects with more natural color that is faithful to how the colors look in real life.
The camera also features a high-precision stabilization system that uses a stabilization unit, gyro sensors, and algorithms to achieve a 5.0-step shutter speed advantage. This system compensates for five types of camera shake, delivering excellent performance with a wide range of lenses.
The a7 III also supports 14-bit RAW data output, even when in silent or continuous shooting mode. This allows for smoother, more natural gradation. The camera's 4D FOCUS-AF performance evolves with the same AF advancements as in the a9, providing improved focus for fast-moving subjects.
Capture stunning 4K movies with high-resolution and full-pixel readout without binning in 35-mm full-frame mode. The camera also features a new HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) picture profile, supporting instant HDR workflow.
