I've been doing photography since I was a little kid, eons ago. Started with 35mm film, and then went through a dozen digitals. The Alpha a7 III also offers a dynamic range of up to approx. 15 stops, providing smooth gradation from shadow to highlight for greater creative imaging freedom. Its color reproduction performance is dramatically enhanced, giving subjects more natural color that is faithful to how the colors look in real life.
For steadier shots, the camera uses a high-precision stabilization unit, gyro sensors, and algorithms to achieve a 5.0-step shutter speed advantage. It also allows 14-bit RAW data output, even when in silent or continuous shooting mode.
The camera's 4D FOCUS-AF performance evolves with the same AF advancements as in the a9, capturing unpredictably moving subjects such as dancers, boxers, and wild animals in action. It features 693 phase-detection AF points covering approx. 93% of the image area, plus 425 densely positioned contrast-detection AF points to improve focus.
The Alpha a7 III also offers high-resolution 4K HDR recording, with a new HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) picture profile supporting instant HDR workflow. Its full-pixel readout without binning in 35-mm full-frame mode condenses approx. 2.4 times the data required for 4K movies, minimizing moir and jaggies.
