I recently upgraded from the Sony A7 III to the A7 IV, and I couldn't be happier! Sony has addressed every issue I had with the A7 III, making the A7 IV a substantial upgrade that is absolutely worth the extra cost. The difference between the two cameras is night and day. The improved autofocus system, higher resolution sensor, and the incredible dynamic range have completely elevated my photography experience. The user interface feels more intuitive, and the additional customization options make it easier to tailor the camera to my workflow. The A7 IV truly shines in both photo and video performance, offering a level of versatility that the A7 III just couldn't match. If you're on the fence between the A7 III and the A7 IV, I can't recommend the A7 IV enough. It's a no-brainer upgrade for anyone who wants the latest and greatest in Sony's lineup. A big shoutout to Adorama for their excellent service-my camera was shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition. I've always had great experiences with them, and this was no exception.

I was ready to switch to a full-frame camera. I have used Sony gear since I started taking photos with my Minolta (Sony) cameras including a film camera purchased in 1978. I like the build quality of the cameras as well as the feel in my hands. I determined that the Sony A7IV would be sufficient for my personal needs. Yes, it doesn't have the bells and whistles of say the A7RV, but it is about $1000 less. The menu is easy to use once you get used to the layout. I do not use the camera for videos, but that is my preference. It does have several options for doing video should you be interested in that function. The camera can shoot at 10 fps. Again, Sony has faster cameras, which is not an issue for what I photograph. I have enjoyed the camera, and have not found it lacking in my style of photography.

I was expecting to like this camera, but I love it! I purchased this camera and lens for an upcoming trip and wanted to be familiar with it before we left. I have taken it out on a few trail runs and absolutely love it. Super sharp images, and much easier than I thought to make the change from Nikon to Sony. I was looking for something lighter to travel with and the Sony Alpha a7 fits the job perfectly.

This is a great value. Is it the best bag? No. But does it work fine, carry a body and 3-4 lenses? Yes. It's built well enough and it's great quality for the price. Perfect starter kit in my opinion. Saves a lot of money on getting started that you can invest in better lenses.

It's 2 years old at the time of purchase. It is absolutely worth it. From reading many many reviews and a ton of research, a little better low light than the newer a7r5 if you don't need the 61mp. And as a portrait, lifestyle, and street photography enthusiast i don't. It's probably comparable to the canon r6 but i can get some amazing sigma or tamron lenses for it. Many many better photographers than i have captured some stunning images with this very body.

For me the Sony A7IV was a huge upgrade. The touch screen mixed with the autofocus is a dream come true. This camera has also pushed me into much higher end video production which was the biggest incentive for buying. It does have it's issues with video, mainly overheating, and it is something to consider. Overall it is an amazing camera.

Switched from Nikon to Sony.

I came from Nikon DSLR and mirrorless cameras to Sony. I?m very impressed with the A7 IV. It has excellent image quality, incredible autofocus, and it has a nice big grip.
Significant AF and Video capability improvements over A7 III
By Linkmodo
A7 IV offers a significant improvement on AF and Eye Tracking (for both humans and animals), better skin tone rendition, better Video capabilities, flip screen, and better ergonomics. LCD and EVF got a slight bump-up in resolution but are still low-res compared to A7R offerings. New 360 flip screen is harder to tilt up and down for quick raise-camera-up and lower-camera-down shots, with A7 III, it's a mere flip up or down, now with A7 IV, have to first flip the screen to the left, then rota...

About The Alpha a7 IV Mirrorless Camera with FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens
While the Alpha a7 IV Mirrorless Camera with FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens is a high-quality, advanced, and innovative piece of technology, it's also a powerful and sophisticated tool for both professional photographers and videography enthusiasts. This camera boasts a full-frame 33MP Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor, delivering exceptional speed and superior image quality. The sensor's copper wiring enhances transmission speeds and facilitates faster AD conversion, enabling 10-bit 4:2:2 4K recording up to 60p.
The Alpha a7 IV's sensor also offers improved color reproducibility, low-noise performance across all sensitivities, and a dynamic range of over 15 stops. This, coupled with increased autofocus speed and precision performance, ensures improved color gradation, detail rendering, and natural-looking human skin textures.
The BIONZ XR image processor, also found in the Sony Alpha 1 and Alpha 7S III models, offers up to an 8x increase in processing speed. This engine focuses on real-time processing of autofocus, image recognition, and image quality adjustment to minimize processing latency, delivering increased movie and still processing power.
The Alpha a7 IV also excels in creating beautiful images with reduced noise. The powerful BIONZ XR processing engine, combined with the capabilities of the back-illuminated Exmor R image sensor, reveals higher subjective resolution, exquisite detail, and texture even in medium and high sensitivity ranges. The camera maintains impressively low levels of noise throughout the standard range of ISO 100-51200, which can be expanded to ISO 50-204800 for stills and ISO 100-102400 for movies.
The camera's full dynamic range of 15 stops allows the Alpha7 IV to use image data from the sensor's 33-megapixels to render remarkably delicate detail in landscapes and scenery. This stunning image quality is a testament to Sony's unrivaled experience in both still-image and movie creation.
For videographers, the Alpha 7 IV offers an impressive range of video recording options, including 4K 60p recording, 4:2:2 10-bit recording, and 7K oversampling for beautifully expressive, richly detailed images. The camera also supports S-Cinetone, delivering natural mid-tones for healthy-looking skin color, soft colors, and gorgeous highlights.
The Alpha 7 IV is the first in the Sony Alpha series to provide compensation for focus breathing, using Sony's original Clear Image Zoom technology to automatically maintain a consistent angle of view for more movie-like focus transitions. This feature can be used in conjunction with Active Mode image stabilization to shoot stable, consistent imagery.
The camera's Fast Hybrid AF system combines 759 phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection AF points, covering roughly 94% of the image area for both stills and movies. This vast collection of data is analyzed in real time by the powerful BIONX XR processing engine to achieve the AF system's impressive results.
The Alpha a7 IV also features Sony's smart AI-based Real-time Tracking, improved Real-time Eye AF, and Real-time Eye AF for birds for stills and movies. The camera allows 10-frame-per-second continuous shooting with a massive buffer, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of photography and videography needs.
