Functional and not too wide in diameter

A macro lens generally benefits from a smaller, narrow diameter hood as this must either be removed when working near subjects, or risk casting a shadow or just getting in the way. Some hoods are flared without good reason and take up more space than the minimum, which is set by how the hood reverses for storage. This design is OK.
