I definitely would recommend this camera. My cyber shot is packed with great features. There is even a tutorial on board. The 50x optical zoom and 20.4MP combine to make clear detailed photos of objects some distance away. I use mine for birds and wildlife, the freeze function holds the subject's action avoiding the blur. I love my Sony cyber-shot DSC- HX400.

I find the quality of images taken with this camera to be superior to many more expensive systems that I own.

This is best camera i had, awesome zoom and everything, I've attached a photo, this is a photo with (almost) the max zoom, and it still came out a good movie.

This is a great camera with some disappointing features. The most disappointing is the manual. It fails to advise of the minimum focusing range in the various zoom modes. It fails to advise clearly who to use wi-fi. It fails to instruct on taking macro pictures. As for the camera itself, the gps feature is a real plus, but it takes a drain on the battery. If you plan on shooting for a day, have 2 or 3 spare batteries with you. The tilt feature of the rear screen is nice, but it would have been preferable if the screen flipped through a range of 180° so that it could be closed when traveling. I found that focusing at the various zoom settings was inconsistent. Sometimes the focusing was excellent; at other times it was a hassle which did not always end up with a snap in focus. Overall, the camera is very good and a good value. The lens is excellent, with good color and contrast.

Bought the camera for a big trip we took. Camera worked well. Control dial is poorly placed and annoying. Zoom is fantastic. Battery life could be longer, especially if you are out on tours all day. Most annoying is the lens cover is not attachable to the camera.

I love the speed (both shutter and focus). It gives me reach that has acceptable clarity without spendig $15,000 to get it. A lot to learn to make full use of all this camera's many features but I have seen enough already that it will be worthwhile. Thanks Sony.

I am still trying to learn how to use this camera, I think that it is smarter than I am.
The Sony DSC-HX400 (Black) is a high zoom point and shoot camera. Closeness is nothing without clarity. Enjoy 50x optical zooming, silky-smooth Full HD video and razor-sharp, 20.4MP pics-perfect for sporting events and all your adventures. Looking to capture the mood of a shot without the harshness of a flash Low-light environments (think candlelight and campfire) maintain their warmth thanks to the sensitive Exmor R CMOS sensor.
Shoot incredibly smooth video and still images with the new BIONZ X processor and Optical SteadyShot (Intelligent Active mode). When the processor and image stabilization technology work together they deliver sharp image quality with low noise and minimal blur even while the user is strolling and the camera is zoomed in.
