Shopper : Please advise which battery this camera takes, and is one battery included in the box when the camera is purchased?Leland S : The Sony DSC-HX90V takes a Sony NP-BX1 Lithium Ion battery. One is included in the box.Joyce W : Rechargeable Battery Pack NP-BX1 includedJULIE N : Yes a battery is included in the box. Sony NP-BX1. It is a great camera. I took it to Africa and got amazing photos.PHILIP K : Yes, there is a correct Sony brand battery included with this camera.PHILIP K : This camera takes a lithium ion NP-BX1 rechargeable 3.6 V 4.5 Wh 1240 mAh battery form Sony or you can get a cheaper generic. Love the camera, had it 14 months. It's very versatile, operates in low light, takes good videos as well as excellent stills, and has a 30x optical zoom. It replaces my Sony SLT-A77V when weight and size become a major consideration.MICHAEL W : It takes a Lithium-Ion NP-BX1 (1240mAh). If you do a lot of shooting in a day, a spare is really nice, but the camera came with the battery.HAROLD A : It takes the Sony NP-BX1 battery. It comes with a battery but you should always have a backup! This is a outstanding camera! I had the HX50V which was not as compact and still works great. Both cameras work great in low light without flash. I travel overseas a lot and people whom have tried my camera run out to get one as soon as they return home.ZEV B : I think the battery came separate. I don't quite remember exactly. I do know I had to put battery in when I received the camera. As far as which battery ... I have a sony lithium ion NP-BX1 type x. 3.6 V 4.5Wh 1240 mAhManfred K : The SONY NP-BX1 battery comes with the camera. It has sufficient capacity for serious shooting, I never had a situation where I would have needed a second battery. I bought an extra battery years ago with my old Cybershot camera, and both degraded due to too little use - so I would advise against buying an extra battery unless you really need it. The included battery is good for 250-300 pictures and charges very quick through any standard USB power source. (Since you are looking apparently for the bundle, I want to tell you that the included screen protector is useless since it is too small. I complained about it. I finally used an iPhone 5 film screen protector which has the exact width, you just need to cut the length. It is not glass, but better than nothing).Linda G : Yes one battery comes with camera. You can order extr battery. Adorama gives you option of ordering extra. You can google to find what battery or take their optionPeter F : Yes the battery is included in the box. the type of battery is Sony "X" or NP-BX1TOM B : It takes the Sony X battery and yes there was one in the box. Battery life is very good, but I still recommend a second or third battery as common practice. Use a fast 64GB card take spares. The camera is great and the 30X optical zoom is superb. The only short coming that I have found is that it does not shoot Raw format. MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THE HARD CASE THAT SONY MAKES FOR THIS CAMERA!!! It makes it a perfect pocket camera.ROSS G : It takes the NP-BX1 battery which is included with the camera.
GEORGE B : Does the Camera have a Touch screen?Peter F : Not a touch screen.Warren C : No, it does not.Anastasiya R : No, the screen is non touch.ROBERT S : NoMATTHEW J : No. But I love this camera and am happy with my purchase.JOHN W : This camera does not have a touch screen.GORDON B : Alas, no touch screen. But it's still an excellent image maker with a lens that ranges from a wide wide-angle to a long long-telephoto, numerous options for control ranging from full automation to full manual, and a small form factor that enables it to fit in a jacket pocket. I bought it as a travel zoom, and indeed it worked well on a trip to Yellowstone last summer, but because it's so small it's now my walking-around camera too. Also valuable are the pop-up view finder and the pop-up flash. I recommend the camera with just one caveat: If you buy it, be sure to browse the web for advice on how to use it, as the instruction manuals are richly detailed but impractical.PETER H : NO
Carol H : does this camera include battery and charger and computer hook up?Brian B : Yes it includes battery, charger/computer hook up wire.GORDON B : Yes, there is a battery inside the box with the Sony HX90V camera. Yes, there is a device for recharging the battery. It starts with a cable that plugs into the camera. At the other end of the cable is a USB plug, and also in the box is a small black gadget that can receive the USB plug on the cable running from the camera. This gadget has prongs to fit into an electrical outlet. You recharge the battery by leaving the battery in the camera, running the cable from the camera to the gadget, and plugging the gadget into a wall socket. The mechanism works well. (As an additional purchase you can buy a different gadget for recharging the battery. To use this one you remove the battery from the camera, put it in this other gadget, and plug the gadget into a wall socket.) That cable also serves to connect the camera to a computer. The camera, by the way, is an excellent model with astonishing capabilities and wonderfully compact. My first one was stolen while I was on vacation this summer and I immediately bought a replacement. It's a travel zoom that is small enough to be a walking-around camera.

Nice camera but no wireless transfer!

I bought this a few years ago mainly because it has a viewfinder - so you can see what you're taking even on na sunny day? It's a nice little camera but recently I decided to start transferring images wirelessly to computer instead of messing about with a card reader - only to find the necessary app (SonyPlayMemories) was discontinued a year ago. So sadly I can't recommend and have reflected this in the design rating.

Brilliant travel companion

I take this camera on all my travels , and the view finder is the icing on the cake, no worries in bright sunlight trying to see on the display , just pop the button and use the viewfinder .

Put together all we need in just one camera

The Sony HX90V is not the perfect camera, if ever that even exist. But Sony managed to give the photographer extremely important aspects in just one camera. The true pocket size, the true long super zoom, a true electronic viewfinder, a true twist high definition lcd, and a true colorful and crispy image processing. Wonder camera.

Good value for money

I already have Sony RX 100 Mark 3, Mark 5, mark 6 and Sony a6000 with various lenses. One of the things that I miss is Sony abandoning the apps that was so good on the mark 3 and the a6000 why did Sony do this they will wonderful and the best feature of the cameras. I bought the new Sony the hx 90v primarily because of the zoom and the convenience of carrying a lighter cheaper version of the RX100 with me I'm not disappointed good camera

Design Faults

I am happy continuing to use this camera. It?s has design faults however. 1. I have just again lost the case for it. The case is fastened but two popper buttons which are insufficient. At least one of them need to be screw-in. Then the case will not fall off in busy places where its loss is not noticed in the rush and bustle. Twice this has happened and replaced event is not cheap. This feature is very annoying, but so easy for Sony to fix. 2. The battery charging socket is very difficult to use. It has to be held open at the same time as holding the camera and inserting the cable plus. 3. The power on/off switch is too small, requiring a nail tip to use. Why can?t it be an obvious switch like other functions on the camera. I hope Sony is not deaf to these points.

Excellent

Bought this a few months ago and never looked back. My SLR had got a bit heavy for me so decided on the HX90V. It has everything I need and the quality is amazing.

FANTASTI C. The best compact camera I have had.

I bought the HX90 about 18 months ago. Previously I was using a HX60 which is great. The HX90 has two other advantages: 1 The EV finder - beats the problem of screen reflections when the sun is behind me. 2 The tiltable screen - extends photographic compositions and avoids needing to kneel down to capture rectilinear shots.

Small, high technology, excessively complex

I bought it a few weeks ago. This nice box has so many possibilities that it requires a 393 pages French user manual. I understand only part of the explanations ... and I still only use, with success, the all-automatic mode and the zoom. Note that I'have been taking picture for a very long time with simpler - and good - cameras. I would like to take training on this device. Where can I find a trainer ?

Excellent features in a very compact form

I bought this camera to replace a Nikon S9700 that I had for several years. I wanted a camera with integrated GPS, good optical zoom, and a small size. After a lot of comparison, I went with it - although the model is few years old, I don't regret the choice. It is a really great compact camera - full of feature. It works very well and produce excellent pictures.

Takes a while...

I had TWO Sony Cybershot DSC and have loved them. However, I wanted a viewfinder as well, so when I dropped and broke my beloved DSC50 I replaced it with the HX90. I usually shoot on APerture Priority but I just could NOT get this to work properly - it shot 2 frames instead of 1, the pictures were ridiculously blurred, couldn’t even make them work on AutoISO. So I managed to get my DSC50 working and copied all the settings from that across as far as I could. Now, so far, so good... somehow, things are better. I thought I understood how to use AP, but clearly not. The manual isn’t helpful. Now that I’m using it on these copied settings, though, I’m happy again.

Great Upgrade

Purchased this as an upgrade form my WX100 which in itself was a fabulous little camera. This is a little larger and heavier so not as versatile in respects of being able to easily slip it into your pocket but purchased a basic small bag that I can hang around my neck/shoulder etc which gives easy access - not heavy etc. Functionality is very similar to my WX100 but what I needed was a viewfinder. On bright days I could not see the screen before but now I have the option to pop up the viewfinder which guarantees I can now see what I want to take a picture of. Not being a pro not quite sure why when I first look through the viewfinder everything is much smaller than with the naked eye but once you zoom in it vastly improves. In fact it is almost like a spy camera the zoom is so good. Little concerned how strong the viewfinder is so only using when I have to. Build quality is very good and altogether an excellent little camera that performs as good as my WX100 and better still. Compliments my RX10 which is exceptional but for everyday use, the HX90V is brilliant in capturing those moments which one might otherwise miss.

My Review for HX90V Compact Camera

This Sony DSC-HX90VB replaces my Canon SX740 which in itself was a brilliant camera with a bigger screen and zoom range at 40x but this Sony DSC-HX90VB at 30x is more than enough for me. The main reason to change was because its easier to setup GPS and the use of the eye viewer similar to my SLR. The facilities of this camera are many and it would take me days to go though them all. I managed to get a kindle book download for the Sony DSC-HX90VB which is a great addition to help with setting up etc, but does not fully answer my questions about the GPS. There are loads of reviews on YouTube and I spent hours watching them before deciding to change. There was no Kindle for the Canon HX740. The Sony DSC-HX90VB is slightly smaller and the screen does not seem as bright as the Canon but it slips into the pocket more easier. After playing with the GPS I found that the corodinates on the EXIC data was not user friendly and was not easy to extract. It may be me, but I need to play around with it more to try and fing a program to sisplay the location. It semms that Sony are not supporting the Play Memories anymore. One problem I did have, the supplied USB mains adaptor to was not a UK one and was not the same as the images for this camera, never the less, the camera still warrants my 5 Stars.

A Lot Of Camera For Your Money

I used to carry a full sized SLR with a 600mm lens, very big, heavy, expensive and definitely not pocket sized. Then I found the HX90V in my local camera shop, it was pocket sized and had a zoom lens eqivalent to a 720mm telephoto and was not nearly as expensive. The zoom lens is great for wildlife photography and lets you get close up shots without frightening the animals. For fast moving subjects like birds, cars, airplanes it has a burst mode which takes 10 shots per second so there's a chance one will be good. Reflected glare is not a problem thanks to the pop up viewfinder which lets you see what your shooting in the brightest sunlight. Best of all the picture quality is great and it will fit any pocket big enough for your phone.

We love this camera!

We cannot speak to highly of this product - its exceptional! We already had a HX90 and its been all over the world with us - taken some great shots, often surprised us by just how good it is particularly for the cost and its never let us down. We argue over who is going to have the camera as it gives both of us a lot of pleasure and so we decided to get another one so we've one each and whilst we considered getting a different make and model both of us wanted the other to have the new camera so we could continue to use the HX90 and so in the end we just bought another one.

A great pocket camera

I bought this to make sure I can always carry a camera with me. As with all things small it is a compromise of size / functionality / cost ... but this is one which works for me. Yes, I do carry my phone with me as well, but the HX90v has a x30 zoom and a flip-up screen, as well as a more powerful flash and larger CCD - so it does take better pictures. It has become my "go-to" camera and I use it most days.

Very impressed by the stabilisation on long focus

I’m 90 and I began to feel overloaded with my SLR, three lenses and flash. My daughter bought an HX90 when it came out and I was struck by her results and the portability. I am probably still on the learning curve, but I’ve mastered a lot of the features and have some superb results. The only disappointment I have - and there may be a solution I haven’t found - is that I cannot find a way to transfer movies to my PC. Perhaps I need a new PC.

Not used yet!

I haven’t used it yet I’m waiting for some decent weather but I’m sure it’ll be fine, this is my third one, the only thing I’m disappointed with is there’s no crop option as I used to use it a lot but I’m pleased that it has a view finder as you can’t see a thing on the screen when it’s sunny it’s pure guess work! I’m rating it on my previous ones as I said I haven’t used it yet!

Great camera, so many features in small size.

Bought this camera because my son has one and he loves it. It has so many features in such a small light camera. I'm only an amateur photographer but have found it very straightforward to use. The only problem I had was with the wifi connection to my phone and tablet. The store where I bought the camera (Castle Cameras) were very helpful and I'm now sorted. Would definitely recommend.

A great upgrade fron the HX50

By SoundExpert

I have only had this 10 days but I am SO impressed ! I really enjoyed my HX50 (and still do) but I was debating whether to get this or the more expensive Sony model with a wider aperture lens but the main thing that swung it was the 30x optical zoom on this, as opposed to a 2.6x. But let's look a little further... OK the 'better' model also has a bigger sensor but how many people would actually use the capablilies as very few print bigger than 6" x 4" if they print at all, and I have viewed t...
