The camera takes wonderful photos, and the video is exceptional. Video is the better than all other cameras in this category!PETE S : Yes, brand new in the box. The actual camera came out some months ago, then was unavailable for months due to damage to the factory in Japan. It is just now available again as of the 20th of last month. This is the top rated camera in it's category. I am very pleased with it as it is: non bulky, tremendous zoom capability, has ability to shoot 1080 video and panoramic shots. Most reviews rate it EXCELLENT.

Great video, but some design quirks

Outstanding video - nice built in help - nice separate movie button - great zoom But have to be sure not to hole camera where pop up flash is- GPS a but slow and its on-off is deep in menu tree - no macro mode.

This is an ecxelent camara.

Nice camara I recommend this product, the only thing I don't like is the flash pop up where my finger is holding the camara (left hand), after that every thing is nice, nice pictures and HD videos.

Nice camera

I've been using Canon 500d and 7d all the way. I bought this cam as a secondary camera. Its a good camera but buy this if you dont want to enter into DSLR photography other wise nikon D3100 or canon 1000D or 1100D makes more sense.

WOW!!

Was going buy the Nikon D3100..another wow camera that is quite awewome! Found this camera quite by accident on line and saw at [@]. I could not put it down. I just coudnt see myself lugging around the D3100 for weekend , travel or vacation use! This little puppy is not The dream camera...but oh so close!! Buy this camera..xtra batteries on [@] $10.00 delivered..just look! Buy this bad boy...you will be thrilled!!

small size with wonderful results

I'm a serious photographer, currently use canon5D. For sometime I was looking for a small camera which can make me happy and my wife can also use it.I found this Sony camera, initially I was not sure how will it perform, but after going through the camera and taking some test shots I was impressed. The help feature, low light performance, HDR is really great. The flash is very powerful and good battery life. If you put the camera in Intellegent mode, it does a great job. The only think which prevented me to give a 5 Star is: 1. should have option to save the photos in raw format 2. The flash pops up in the left and usually it gets in the way where you usually place your left finger.

Sony hx9v review

This camera has given me pretty much everything I expected from it. Having read many reviews of several compact zoom cameras from several sites, this one stood out and I have been very happy with results.
