Shopper : is a memory card or memory stick used?BRUCE S : I use SD cards.BERNARD T : Memory CardMICHAEL C : SD cardANDREW R : Per the product specifications: Memory Card Slot Dual compatibility slot: Memory Stick PRO Duo/Pro-HG Duo/PRO-HG HX Duo media - SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards
Terry R : 5 year drops and spills for this camera...body only or lens only or the bundle?BERNARD T : AS this is fixed lens camera so would cover both body and lens.CHARLES D : I assume you are asking about insurance coverage you have bought for the camera. While I do not know the terms of the policy, please note that the RX10 is a "fixed-lens camera." This means the lens is not readily removable and the camera is not made to allow the user to change to a different lens. Therefore, I assume the insurance has to insure the whole camera as a body and lens whole.
Shopper : Will Minolta lenses fit a sony camera?RUSSELL M : This camera does not have interchangeable lenses. If you have a Sony A mount camera (which this is not) you can use Minolta auto focus lens.THOMAS F : Minolta autofocus lenses (AF) will fit on the Sony Alpha series of DSLRs. They will not fit on the NEX series, which use a different mount (E mount). However, an adapter can be purchased to allow this, but it is expensive. Minolta manual focus lenses cannot be used on either. Unless the Minolta lenses are big ticket ones, most people find that the old film lenses fall short when used on digital cameras. This is because the digital sensor presents different lens performance requirements than film did. Hope this helps!KENT L : This camera does not support interchangeable lensesBRUCE S : This camera has a permanently mounted zoom lens. You cannot interchange lenses. The Carl Zeiss lens has a very wide zoom range and is of superb quality. If this lens will suit your needs, I highly recommend this camera. The quality of materials and precision manufacturing are extraordinary. It's a jewel!PHILLIP W : On some Sony cameras, yes. But the RX10 is not an interchangeable lens camera. It has one lens and that lens is always on it.

So pleased with RX10 Mk4

Really happy with performance. Why oh why have Sony ceased production of this fantastic camera? There really needs to be an RX10 Mk5. Come on Sony, you've got a world beater product here!

Brilliant Wildlife Travel Camera

Great zoom lens with fast auto focus and tracking. Could be better in low light and controls are baffling for a long time.

Versatile camera.

Bought this for wildlife and landscape photography while travelling. Absolutely great camera, but a few things that detract: Zoom is meant to be 25x but it doesn't appear to be. It's quite heavy. Point focus is not available on auto mode. It's absolutely awesome for birds in flight. Image quality is spot on.

I have just got this camera and therefore have not had time to explore its potential. Come back in 6 months.

Couldn't get on with it

I'm afraid I just couldn't get on with this camera. I found the delay when the electronic viewfinder went blank when taking a photo so detrimental to capturing wildlife images I asked for a refund from the retailer. The quality of the images was also not good.

Awesome zoom

This is an excellent product for taking shots of birds. It's zoom is a significant aid in gaining close up views even though the camera is relatively lightweight.

My first bridge camera

Thought of getting a bridge camera for ages as upgrade to my Panasonic TZ95 and as the salesman said, it really is night and day in terms of improved quality, speed, control and ease of use. Loving it so far.

Perfect piece of kit !

Only 3 weeks in but wishing I could have been using it longer, no longer dragging bag of DSLR lenses around with me but getting very good results in all lights so far. Zoom quality pretty spectacular as is Macro performance (don't really need the special setting)

Very impressed with this camera

I am very impressed with this camera. It is as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. I bought it to replace the Nikon and three lenses I had, and it does everything that all that gear did, and more. An ideal camera for travel. Well made and solid.

Good results

I bought the RX10 a month ago, still getting to know it! Pictures are excellent but the manual is not helpful. It needs a more practical approach to actually using the camera and all it's features.

focus fault.

Had this camera since the 12 June 2021 although it seems like a good buy I do have some issues with focus point from time to time. in focusing on a bird in a tree the camera seems to focus to the left of the bird or anything ells for that matter. with the focus point straight at the birds eye .sending a photo for this wouldn't help. on top of that when registering the camera through sony they have it down as a RX10 Camera with 24 - 200 zoom... when its a Sony RX10 IV 24 to 600 lens.. would I recommend yes or no is unfair so for the purpose of this I will say No because I wished I saved more cash and had the A7 iii

Great allrounder

Have only used 3 or 4 times but so far really great albeit a bit on the heavy side but I suppose not surprising when the motor has to move this large lense.

Great camera.

I bought this as an everyday camera for when out walking as my compact camera was only 24-70 mm and I take most of my images on my dslr and mirrorless cameras using a telephoto and they were getting too heavy when just out for a walk. I have been surprised by the quality of the images from this camera and the long zoom range to 600 mm is fantastic and has made my walks more enjoyable as I have a relatively light camera allowing me to take wide angle to telephoto images with great quality and without the need for a heavy backpack full of lenses for every occasion.

GREAT CAMERA,

Great camera, extremely sharp, replaces my Nikon 24 mp APS C SLR and all its lenses with ease , the 600 mm reach a simply fantastic and the definition is well up to APS c standards and is usually better thanks to the extremely good image stabilisation, good in low light up to 1600 but because of the excellent image stabilisation it is easy to use lower speed settings , beautifully built. Not heavy considering it is 24-600 mm. within a few grams it weighs the same as the Nikon SLR with a basic standard lens on it

A versatile camera with great image quality

This review is for the Sony RX10 IV with a 24-600mm lens. I have owned a Sony RX100 VI for two years before purchasing the RX10 IV. I make this point because as is often commented, the menu system, which is virtually the same in both cameras, is quite a steep learning curve. For anyone new to the Sony menu I strongly recommend considering guidebooks from either Gary Friedman or Alexander White, rather than attempting to learn the menu from the official Sony PDF document which is long and not easy to use. Because I had a head start I was able to get to grips with the RX10 IV menu system quite quickly. All I had to do was to learn the various functional differences between the two cameras. Having physical controls for focus mode, shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation is most useful, and being able to allocate various buttons to specific tasks without needing to dive into the menu is very helpful. So far - I have only owned the camera for a week or so at the time of writing - I am immensely pleased. Compared with the RX100 it is quite large and heavy as expected, but it handles well and, being larger, the controls are mostly easier to use than the RX100. Image quality is first class for a 1" sensor and the 600 mm focal length is a joy to use when needed. I have no real criticisms. The control wheel is the same size and design as on the RX100 and is a little fiddly to use. Removing the memory card is another job requiring nimble fingers. Overall I am extremely happy with this camera.

Sony RX10 A Great Travel Camera

I was looking for a camera to take on treks, it needed to be lightweight, robust with a good zoom capabilities. The RX10 has not disappointed, I've been very impressed with the image quality.

It's what I was looking for!

I wanted a camera with a 600mm focal length lens, mainly for wildlife, to replace my old camera. A DSLR with various lenses was looking to be a very expensive option when a contact recommended the RX10mIV. I am still getting used to everything this camera can do, but after 3 months use I really appreciate its versatility although there is so much more for me to learn. I have added 4 photos; the chimneys taken about 50 metres distant; the rare Black Browed Albatross at Bempton Cliffs in flight using full 600mm focal length (cropped) the bee (cropped) showing the macro capability using zoom and finally the full moon taken hand held and not cropped.

Nikon DSLR user!

Ok, I've always been a Nikon Dslr user but getting older I wanted a light walk around camera that still had the length for wildlife photography. So, a few years ago I got the Nikon P900 bridge camera. After 6 months I sold it, I just didn't like the fact it didn't take as good a picture as my DSLR so ended deleting them. This year my husband said he wanted a bridge camera! So I trolled the internet for reviews and came up with the Sony XR10 M4. Decided to get it as it wasn't for me and perfectly good enough for my husband. I thought it looked nice and it's a nice weight, so took it out and tried all the settings. My opinion of it? Wow. Although I tried all the settings the photo's were all taken on manual at 600mm, even the butterfly (cropped), who needs macro!! I was very surprised at how quick it locked on to birds in flight. Would I recommend it, definitely. Now what do I do, Pinch my husbands XR10 or by my own?

Great Picture quality

Had the camera for a month now , bought primary because I no longer wish to carry a bag full of lenses. Once you learn the various menus I get get what I wish out of the camera. The quality of the JEG image is excellent.

Only camera you need

Bought this to replace a Sony alpha 6100 I had bought to replace a RX10 mk.3 - I thought the physically smaller alpha would be better for travelling , but even though it was a great camera, gave me some great photos, I just couldn?t gel with the camera and all its features found in the menu. I had found the RX easier to use so traded the alpha and the excellent 70-350 I had bought for the RX mk.4 - great camera.

excellent camera

By royston

First let me say that my previous dslr s were of the highest quality apsc variety from two top manufacturers. I have also owned a variety of lenses from 18mm to 300mm from the same stables. I am now retired from being a professional wedding / social photographer but I thought a little of my background could be useful to anyone reading this review. The RX10 was chosen after a trial with a friends camera. I needed something which was more compact, lighter and produced results close to what I ha...

I bought this to replace my heavy dslr kit and wow it does everything so well. Great videos and great photos.

The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX10 has plenty of features to realize more of the potential in your movies. To record sound with precision worthy of professional production, connect a high-performance microphone through an input terminal. Monitor pristine stereo sound through premium-quality Sony headphones plugged into the headphone jack. A built-in HDMI output terminal also accommodates connection of a TV, computer or DVD player/recorder. Audio metering and recording level control are instrumental to keeping soundtracks smooth and consistent. Use the camera's Multi Interface Shoe and an optional XLR Adaptor Kit to hook up external recording, flash and other accessories. It all adds up to a set of professional-class capabilities that is unprecedented among all other compact cameras.

Containing back-illuminated technology and approximately 4x larger light-sensitive area that other compact DSC (digital still cameras) can't match, Sony's 20.2-megapixel 1.0-inch Exmor R CMOS sensor harnesses light and reduces image noise very efficiently. This, along with high settings of a wide ISO range, allow even photos of dimly lit scenes to look incredibly clear.

Sony RX-10 Features

  • With the new RX10 - the compact digital camera that puts boundless picture-taking power in your hands and a fresh new outlook in your sights
  • A large F2.8 maximum aperture throughout an expansive 24-200mm (35mm equivalent) zoom range gives you ample opportunity to express your vision. Make a subject stand out - manipulate depth of field to defocus backgrounds for creative effect, as great photographers do
  • Close-up shooting is seamless. No switching to macro mode is needed. Zoom in all the way up to extreme telephoto on a subject as near as 11-inches (30cm) away. The built-in lens makes it more convenient for you to take impressive shots throughout a big range
  • An advanced aspherical lens (AA lens) reduces diameter and length and maintains high resolution even at image edges. A new Direct Drive SSM (Super Sonicwave Motor) stops lens movement with spot-on precision. Far-reaching optical flexibility minimizes mechanical dimensions
  • The groundbreaking new BIONZ X image processing engine not only maximizes picture quality in ways that only a seamlessly unified body and lens design can realize - it also faithfully reproduces textures and details in real time, as seen by the naked eye, with peerless high-speed processing
  • By minimizing digital artifacts that tend to overemphasize hard outlines and rough edges when pictures are reproduced, detail reproduction technology makes images noticeably more lifelike, clean and natural-looking in every detail, texture and dimension
  • Now, noise reduction is individually adjusted based on imaging pattern variations, for superior clarity and finer details throughout even images shot in low light
  • High-speed AF is remarkably smooth thanks to the Direct Drive SSM (Super Sonicwave Motor) with precision-engineered focusing stop positions designed to minimize focusing lens travel distance, which shortens focusing time
  • Choose among three concentric Flexible Spot frames for greater focusing versatility and precision than other cameras' fixed-focus spot frame systems can provide
  • Just press the shutter button halfway to activate Lock-on AF. It precisely focuses even on moving subjects by continuously adjusting target frame size based on its recognition of subject characteristics
  • Applying advanced detection technology, this new Eye AF function detects and focuses on a subject's eye, even if the subject is facing or looking slightly away from the camera
  • An abundance of powerful higher-performance functions and options are invaluable for capturing moving images of superior resolution and stunning clarity with minimal noise, even while zooming on the action
  • As Full High Definition (Full HD) movie recording has become a standard of high-performance video recording and playback, Sony advances better ways to take advantage of its potential
  • Clear, uncompressed digital movie signal output can be transferred to an external monitor/recorder (connected via the HDMI terminal) simultaneously in real time from the RX10. The shooting info display can be turned off for even cleaner views of such movies on an external monitor/recorder
  • See spectacular clarity, contrast and detail in every scene, regardless of conditions, on the built-in, bright, high-resolution OLED Tru-Finder. Four dual-sided aspherical lenses provide a big, approx. 33-degree view angle and maintain excellent edge-to-edge visibility of the electronic viewfinder
  • For faster, more intuitive camera operation, you can customize a total of seven buttons by assigning up to 40 types of functions among them. As a result, you will gain more convenient access to your selection of frequently used functions, right at your fingertips
  • Magnesium alloy top and front casings make the RX10 light, solid and robust enough for long, rigorous use by advanced photographers and videographers. The camera's dust- and moisture-resistant design even allows shooting in rugged outdoor environments
  • A new, improved graphical user interface makes access to frequently used functions absolutely effortless. Just press the Fn button to display a list of them
  • An approximately 1,229K-dot tiltable 3.0-inch White Magic LCD lets you shoot comfortably from various positions. The display has the flexibility to be tilted within a range of angles extending from about 84 degrees upward to about 45 degrees downward
  • Just download the free PlayMemories Mobile app, then instantly connect via Wi-Fi or NFC (near field communication) by touching a compatible Android smartphone or tablet to the camera
  • This free, easy-to-use image management software can be installed onto Windows and Mac computers, for downloading photos and movies which can then be viewed, organized, edited, retouched, printed, burned to disk, shared or uploaded to social networking websites
  • Virtually relive moments when you witnessed such nuances as the shades of a shimmering blue sky or a rosy complexion. The RX10 supports Sony TRILUMINOS Color for viewing photos in rich, natural colors on a TRILUMINOS Display
