Previously had a Sony DSC F707 which was a 5 MP 20x zoom SLR-style camera which we lost. Decided that with the 10.2 MP TX1 and the easier size to carry, we could sacrifice a little picture quality. Unfortunately, we are extremely disappointed...before, even with the 8 yr old camera, we were constantly complimented on our pictures...now, every time we look at the photos, we realize that we will never be satisfied with this point and shoot camera, and so we are now in the market to replace the Sony with something closer to the DSC-F707, and size will not be a concern this time. We have four small children and the last thing we want is to look back at our pictures years from now and say...we should have bought a better camera. Great initial "Wow" factor, panarama shot is cute, but not very useful. Unfortunately having owned this camera for almost a year now, there is no Wow when you look at the pictures.

Overall this camera was a good pick. The only thing I did not like was when you would take the 10 pics in 1 minute, some of them would come out blurry. Only if there was a way to fix that.

I love love love this camera, I had an older version that broke when I was on vacation in Vegas, so I decided to go to the Sony store and see if they could help. They couldn't fix my camera because the problem was internal. I wasn't going to buy another Sony but decided to look anyway b/c I figured the other camera stores would over charge me for another nice camera. So I looked at ones similar to what I had and decided on this one b/c it took the same battery as mine even though there was a newer version available. I have to say I love this camera so much I love all the features and It comes in PINK! And yes I got the pink one. It takes beautiful photos and I used it the rest of the weekend. Some said the battery life was short but it seemed fine to me, but I closed the camera when I wasn't using it. Since It slides open and turns on it doesn't take long to turn it back on again. also having an extra batter is always a good idea anyway. This camera is totally worth the money, but if you can afford it the newer version has full HD and the panoramic feature is better.

The sleek Sony DSC-TX1 Digital Camera incorporates the "Exmor R" CMOS sensor and boasts stunning low-light performance, reducing grain by more than 50%, even without a flash. High speed burst captures 10fps without distortion and expansive Sweep Panorama shots are easy to achieve with press and sweep motion.
Sporting an ultra-thin body, a 3" touch screen and phenomenal imaging technology, the Cyber-Shot DCS-TX1 digital camera delivers high-quality photos (and 720p HD video) in high-fashion style. A Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens and Sony "Exmor R" CMOS Sensor works in combination with the BIONZ image processor for super-fast processing to make it easy to get the best shot. You can now shoot 10 frames per second at an incredible 10.2 megapixels per shot- perfect for those hard-to-get moments.
You can even shoot beautiful landscape shots with ease and capture clear photos when you're in dark environments. Not sure which mode to use in challenging lighting conditions? Let the Intelligent Auto (iAuto) Mode choose the setting for you.
