Son of Minolta

I'm an old Minolta user, so I was glad to see someone takeover the product line. The 10.2MP of the Sony DSLR-A100 is a quantum leap over the 6.2 MP of my Konica-Minolta 7D.

A great camera for the price.

I started buying Minolta products while in SEA (Vietnam War). They have been good products. Since I have a full line of Minolta lenses, I would hate to have to switch to another brand, that would be very expensive. The new Sony A 100 body improves on the Maxxum 7D that I have. I can enlarge photos even more, or just a part of a photo, since I print out my own work. I am looking forward to the next few thousand photos.

Great

I bought this camera for m daugther so that she could start her career as a pro photographer. Her main problem with photography is that she shakes alot. With the camera's super steady shot feature it makes her life a lot easier. Thank you Sony for making such a great camera!

GREAT DSLR VALUE FOR MONEY

The Sony a100 is a good DSLR value for money compared to it's Nikon or Canon rivals in its class of 10MP DSLRs. It is not a camera for beginners or those who does not have sound knowledge of basic film photography. Good knowledge of aperture, exposure, colour temperature and shutter speed are essential for good results with the a100 when the AUTO mode do not give the result expected. I have no regrets buying the a100 where I always get the results that I wanted and at times beyond my expectation. In low light and high speed, shots should be better on tripods and fast lenses.

Sony SLR beats the market in results

The color on fotos is excellent. I have several outstanding fotos of landscapes and nature particularly in sharpness and color. The camera is light. a very important feature and can be used on auto as well as manual for settings with ease. My outdoor fotos are spectular but indoor in artificial light I need help from photoshop. The focus is sharp both inside and out. As if you could not tell, I really love this camera and is the closest to my older minolta print pictures without fixing.Negative- I sometimes find extra items in the corners that I did not notice when focusing but they are easily cropped out!

Beautiful!

I've used the 5D for about 8 months now, and is a great camera. Recently tested my friends A200, and it sets the new standard. Ive used cameras (in my job) in the similar price range, and the A200, with the antishake, dust removal, tonal variation aspects and general design gets higher marks than anything else I've ever used below $5000. Looks like Sony and Minolta make a GREAT team!!!

Very good product for first DSLR

I got my start with DSLR with the Minolta 7D camera. This is my second DSLR body and I'm very impressed with the features and quality of pictures it takes. Many of my pictures are available [...] and since I upgraded to this camera, a lot more pass the rigorous screening process. Considering this would be an entry level DSLR, it has many features that Canon Rebel XT or Nikon D50 wish they had. If you combine this camera with some quality Minolta or Sony lenses, you will not be sorry.
