Bought to make sure my camera is safe and undamaged, this case has been on my camera constantly since I got it. Occasionally I will remove the top part when out on a photo-shoot but I always take the rest along with me when I'm done. Fits perfectly as I would expect and it is easy to access my camera from being closed. A very nicely thought out accessory - I love it.

I recommend this case only because the camera needs protection and this is the only form-fitted case made for the DSC HX-90V. The case frame screws onto the tripod mount at the bottom of the camera and can, itself, be mounted to a tripod. It does make the camera slightly more bulky, but it fits pretty well. The part of the case which protects the lens and viewscreen connects to the frame with 2 snaps. Disconnecting either snap allows the case to hang from the frame on the remaining connected snap, but it always seems to be in the way, so I usually disconnect both snaps and store the disconnected case in a pocket when shooting. This is the main reason why I did not give 5 stars. The other reason is that, although the case is somewhat protective and would probably prevent damage in the event of a short drop, but it is not waterproof.

The Sony HX90 and 80 are great little cameras, but they aren't dustproof by any stretch of the imagination, and the lens, although covered by a shutter, is quite vulnerable. This case, which is a skintight fit on these cameras, is one way that you can protect the lens from dust and damage. The front can drop down in back of the camera or in front, and the strap gives extra security when the camera is carried outside of your pocket. There is a tripod socket on the bottom. Great value!

I bought this a year ago for my HX90V. It is beautiful and sturdy. The man-made leather is really quite nice. It looks and feels real. I have to peer at it closely and sniff it to confirm it is man-made. The cloth-lined rigid plastic interior molds around the whole camera and keeps it protected. I have left it in my backpack and never worried about it being banged up. I love having a case with a shoulder and neck strap that attached to both sides of the camera instead of just a wrist strap. It makes for quick and easy access. It is much better than a case that attaches to your belt, because speaking as a woman, I never wear an outfit with a belt. I have read the warnings about the cover not reliably staying on the snap. This is only a minor flaw to me. I've learned to work around it by never letting it dangle idly when the camera is not in use. I let it dangle for long enough to get some shots, and I swing it around and put it right back on again with both snaps. If that is too much to manage, then this is not the right case for you.

I ordered this to provide some protection for the camera, and for the neck strap attached. It successfully provides both. I am concerned about the snap closures possibly wearing out and losing the part that covers the lens and LCD at some point, but so far so good. The case is rich looking and feels good to the touch.

I find that the lens cover falls off this product far too easily. I took it off altogether as I could not rely on a single press stud to keep it attached to the rest of the cover. It would be more useful if there was a case that could be attached to my belt so that the camera is handily available when needed.
