steve p : every once in a while on the first click of a picture the camera gives a message "camera error". I then turn it off and back on and it works fine. What is causing the error message?DAVID K : Hello Steve,
Your Sony Nex 5N sounds like it is having some software issues. If it was me I would contact Sony customer service and also do internet research to see if other owners are experiencing similar problems.ROBERT D W : I can't say for sure; Only happened to me once, when the battery was very low. Since then I have kept it above 25% charge or so, and no further "error" messages.DAVE H : No clue, my camera does not do that. You might ck for a firmware update.......DaveMITCHELL F : Steve
I had the same body and lens combination. I never had that error message show up on my system. I used the same lens on the Nex-7N body later with no problem. You might clean the contacts between teh body and the lens. Otherwise, i hope you have warranty protection. Good luck.DAVE K : Is it just with your 55-210mm? Lens properly mounted? Contact points clean?
I have not seen the message with my 18-55mm (I don't have the 55-210mm).DIMITRIOS K : Hi Steve p,
I never had this issue with either of my Nex-5N, but here are couple thoughts:
a) Are you using a Nex E lens? For all lenses with electronic contacts check the connecting surfaces. Are they clean? You may wish to rub them with an eraser. Also, does the lens attach with out play?
b) Are you using a Sony battery? If not, this might be an issue depending on manufacturer. But in either case, check its contacts and try rubbing those with an eraser, too.
c) Try using a different SD card as those go bad, too.
d) Has the camera been exposed to moisture? Perhaps gone from cold to warm and moist environment? If so, let the camera dry well and avoid doing so in the future.
Sorry I can not be more definitive.
Shopper : HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO OMD EM5?AMEER S : No idea.KHALED I : I don't own the NEX anymore. I sold it when discovered that its images don't tolorate post processing well. The NEX images are great out-of-camera. The Olympus OM is pricier than the NEX-5N because it is newer but online with Sony's newer models, the OM is heavier too. I love the OM, the pictures and colors are simply stunning.KHALED I : The NEX is an excellent camera for the price and features. It produces very good out-of-camera images. The Olympus OM is all that but tolorates extensive post processing more than the NEX'. The OM is pricer than the 5N but in line with the Sony's newer models. The NEX is a lighter weight too.ACHILLES D : Im not quite sure about the olympus camera. As far as i know, since i own the nex 5n, its probably still better in low light photography. I use to have the epl1 and it struggles anything above iso 800. With the nex 5n, im confident up until iso 3200.
Shopper : Can HDMI output come from live view in addition to stored data? That is, can HDMI output frm Nex 5 to TV be used as auxiliary viewfinder during live view, prior to pressing shutter?MICHAEL B : YesAMEER S : Sorry didn't try that yet.ANDREW R : Unfortunately no, the instruction manual for the NEX-5N does not indicate that HDMI output can be used for live view. The manual specifically states "recorded images".Villa v : can sony nex use a sigma fisheye lens, and if so what kind of adapter should be use to attached to cameras.
