Sony Wireless Remote Commander (model RMT-P1BT) via Bluetooth wireless technology that provides a reliable, responsive solution for imaging enthusiasts that want to precisely control their camera during landscape shooting, architectural photography, astrophotography, still motion photography, group portraits and more  The new RMT-P1BT wireless remote commander operates via Bluetooth connectivity, eliminating the need for wires, cables or receivers to connect the remote directly to the camera. The remote features an extremely fast response, within approximately 0.05 seconds release time-lag, that ensures the shutter can be released with precise accuracy. There is also an LED light that indicates operating status to camera by flashing or lighting continuously. Additionally, the remote is designed to resist dust and moisture plus hot and cold temperatures, offering reliable operation in a wide variety of environments and weather conditions.  To maximize control over camera functionality, the new RMT-P1BT wireless remote commander features focus buttons for manual control over subtle focus changes, a remote C1 custom button that can be adjusted based on users preferences. It also includes Start/Stop movie recording and control over power-zoom or digital-zoom functionality, making it the ideal accessory for remote movie shooting. For photographers that prefer to shoot on 'Bulb' exposure mode, the remote commander can be set to open and close the shutter with respective clicks of the main button, eliminating the need to press and hold the button throughout exposure time.

I was initially concerned that my new A6700 did not support a wired remote release, something I have used on all my cameras in the past but I needn't have worried, the RM-P1BT is a better, more useful solution.

Pairing was very easy and has not dropped since. It's always ready to use. The lock side-switch ensures that inadvertent operation is prevented.

The shutter release response time is instant, so I'm very satisfied with this remote. In astrophotography for instance, the atmospheric turbulence might abate for a fraction of a second and you want to get your shot at that moment and the RM-P1BT allows me to do that.

Button feel is pleasant, especially for the half-press focus. The case is nicely moulded to make for a comfortable grip and the lanyard loop is handy to hang it on a tripod. The battery compartment is sealed and has a two-stage mechanism to keep it in place, very nice.

A great companion for your compatible Sony camera.

Better than a wired remote

Poorly made broke first time I used it wish I could get replacement or refund I plan on writing many reviews on this one to protect other people from buying this very bad product

Sony remote for Sony camera

This was purchased to overcome the problem caused by using an L bracket which prevents access to ports when in portrait mode. However, the Bluetooth connection became intermittent after a few months and after ca 21 months the remote failed completely. Since I'd spent over £6000 pounds since I switched to a Sony system 3 years I contacted support asking if they would contribute to the cost of a new one. I hoped they would perhaps sell me one at cost but this was quickly rejected and they suggested I fit a new battery to fix the problem. I had already told them this was the first thing I had done which suggests they only skim read when assessing submissions to their support site. Not impressed.

Poor reliability - failed after 21 months

i purchased remote commander over 1 month ago, as i use it for bird photography. excellent for medium zoom telephoto lenses using a tripod, it works well with my camera.

Simple to set up and use, but disappointing that it will not Zoom if saving images in both JPEG and RAW.

Love it but with one exception - that I can live with.

Would buy again

Took a little bit to get it set up (mainly me skipping over the relevant menu page in my A7RIIIa), but it works well for what it is.

I use this to reliably trigger my camera for focus stacking and stop-motion projects where you don't want to touch the camera at all. It's worked well so far, feels well built, and the buttons have a nice, positive feeling.

Solid remote

Sony never fails when it comes to their products.  I tried an off-brand remote and it didn't work.  The Sony works flawlessly.  Great quality and I can highly recommend it!  Thanks!

Sony Wireless Bluetooth Remote is the BEST!

Excellent remote. I was a little concerned if the remote can trigger bulb mode shots as the instructions and online information was not clear about that aspect. It does work with bulb mode, has a button to move focus as well. The best remote for sony mirrorless cameras. Using it with a sony A7riii.

Great product

The RMT-P1BT is briliant. I used it in the National Archives Kew on a camera stand, photgraphed 530 pages of documents, without touch the camera, in 3 hours. It cost £65 from amazon. Worth every penny. Hope it can made to operated FDR X3000.

Surprisingly small, lite and easy to feel which button(s)  to push without looking at them. The Autofocus is very accurate and most useful when shooting in low light and with flash. The CR 2032 battery lasts for 200-300 shots. Very happy with this valuable purchase.

One of my most useful tools along side with my tripod, speedlights and strobes

Works great, does exactly what it says it would do. Expensive but very reliable. The red indicator light on the remote is especially useful when your a not very close to the camera or in a noisy enviroment. Allows you to see very clearly if the camera is recording or not.

A remote in the hand is worth …

I really like the fact it has all the options that is does. Focus, zoom ect.... This is not your basic remote for your Sony cameras.

IT WILL NOT FOCUS OR ZOOM WHILE SHOOTING IN RAW on the A7RIV!!! I'd give it no stars if possible.

Don't buy it!

It is a little expensive but as most things you will want to stick to the same brand as your camera. Remote is customizable and one feature that is most useful is the lock switch to lock the buttons.

Awesome remote trigger

Very happy with this remote. Great to be able to link with Bluetooth rather than risk plugging in cables continually to the camera body – also much quicker. Lock function very useful as prevents battery drain and accidental shutter release. No lag for shutter when using the shutter release button. Extremely useful to be able to focus manually by using the focus buttons and so avoids touching the lens when on a tripod. To use the focus buttons set your camera to manual focus rather than the via the lens. The custom button C1 matches the settings assigned to C1 on your camera – very useful – I have focus magnifier assigned to this just so I can check focus or just view in detail what I am looking at – eg like using binoculars to observe more closely in wildlife photography. 5 stars.

Very useful

I using this commander since a year now and I'm using it constantly, as it's my only remote shutter controller. It's great. Very reliable keeps connection for hours and battery life is acceptable too. You can do 12-13k shots on one CR2032 battery. I've read the reviews below saying that it looses connection. Please check your camera settings as all power saving features of the camera should be disabled if you don't want to loose BT connection.
I highly recommend this remote.

Great ! Keeps conncetion super stable

I'm not sure why all the negative comments about this remote. It works well on my a7r IV....no issues at all. Easy to connect and easy to use. I've tried a lot of wireless remotes and this is by far the best one I've used for simple functions - if you want more advanced features, there's better ones out there of course but this works great for what it is.

The best 'basic' remote I've used

Just purchased item with great hopes for it with my new Sony A7R4 camera. Tried to set it up but each time within a few seconds of pairing the connection was lost. Tried several times and still the same. Camera ok with other bluetooth connections. I should have read the reviews first. Going back to Amazon tomorrow

Will not hold connection

Works perfectly on my A7RIV. Ideal for photography on a tripod. Can configure one of the buttons to your choice of function . Also can keep in pocket away from rain and cold and has decent range. Much more useable than remotes with annoying tangled wires. Highly recommended.

Excellent remote for landscape photography

Super excited to see a native bluetooth remote for the Sony system. Fortunately, i have one of the compatible models it works with. However, as mentioned in another reviewer..this will randomly lose connection. There is no telling when it will stop..you'll need to turn off your camera and back on..or go through the menu and turn off bluetooth and back on, then wait for it to establish. When working, its amazing. Sony please find a fix! I have used the bluetooth remote with other branded systems flawlessly, wish this would do the same!

I was looking for a remote trigger and passed on the cheap amazon versions. This works great for my purposes. Works great in addition to the Sony app. Decent amount of “reach”
