I needed a new compact camera for a family holiday, I'd looked a various brands but this Sony model was rated highly and friends owned an older model. It's easy to use and not too heavy, it copes well in low lighting, my only issue is the flash and how this "springs" up when in use, but has to be firmly pushed manually back into place

I take this camera wherever I go, especially hiking. No way am I about to bring 30 pounds of camera gear to a 6-hour hike. Plus, especially during this pandemic, it's important to use a small camera around the city. So many people are getting robbed in the streets. I learned to use this camera by reading DK's Beginner's Photography Guide. Now, the camera is so easy to use that I even started using the Manual setting instead of automatic. I've included some of my fav. photos from this camera. Enjoy!

Lightweight and high spec and high quality compact camera, bought for low light f1.8 lens, large and high megapixle sensor and reasonable zoom range. Adjustable screen is a bonus. Additional rubber grip added to inprove handling, but menu button is too close to camera edge and not recessed enough, so is easily activated by mistake.

The DSC-RX100M2 is an absolute delight to use. Portable, versatile, quick and very sensitive to low light, it represents the perfect balance between all parameters for a perfect travel camera

I was looking for something smaller to carry every day rather than my dslr but with quality of photo that could match, I wasn't disappointed, it's lot fully equal its so close. The folding screen is a must for me and again shows the cameras flexibility with bright and reflection free ease. I had to get the grip because my hands are rather large and I'm glad I did because now it's easier to work with.

I bought this Sony RX100 Mk 2 because I needed a combination of good images, good video ability & most of all a very compact light camera for travelling. It fulfils all of these criteria very well.

Sharp pictures of people dancing taken by shaky photographer indoors without flash! Use the sports setting. It takes the pic when you push the button. No noticeable delay. Has lots of other features I'm not using.

I had got rid of all my P&S cameras but found there were times that I wanted something quick and easy once again. I am delighted with the Sony RX-100 II which is discreet and very portable whilst producing the highest quality JPG and RAW files. It is a solid little beast which oozes quality ..... Couldn't wish for better ....

When I am looking for new camera equiptment I always go to Adorama. I have been using them since early 80's when I lived in New York. and now that I live in the west coast I still continue buying my camera equiptment from them..

This compact camera combines quality and technical excellence in an attractive and beautifully made precision instrument. It’s size belies it’s capabilities and results are stunningly good in all programme modes. Powerful, capable and a delight to use. My only criticism is the omission of a grip: the Sony accessory is an outrageous £12 for a piece of moulded plastic and a 3m adhesive pad. It should have been included in the box.

Bought the camera in 2014. Very pleased for some while until external noise started connected to lens and focussing system. Recently went on Sony site and noticed a download to correct problem. It worked. Should have looked earlier. Photo quality excellent, could do with a bit longer lens. Last of the RX100’s to have capability on external flash. That is the reason that I shan’t upgrade.

I bought the camera a month ago and it has been a wonderful experience. I just wish that Sony would have retained the hot shoe in their newer models.

I've had the RX100M2 for over 1 and a half years now, and I mainly use it to make videos for my Youtube channel and I love it, it's so easy to use, records smooth 1080p videos, the camera never overheats or shuts down and the best part is you can use a power bank to power the camera while you are recording videos, so no worries about the internal battery drain. Still, photos are brilliant as well, almost all video thumbnails are also shot with this camera. 100% recommended. Last month I've upgraded to Sony alpha 6300.

Great specs that do not deliver their best. The camera was bought for it's wide angle and low aperture ability.

Recently I switched from Sony RX100 to RX100 M2. RX100 has been my faithful friend for five years. It was the camera that was always with me in my pocket. Even after falling on the sidewalk, it continued to work, but eventually it became fatal for her.RX100 M2 made me very happy. New color rendition, better video quality. Rotating display! But this is still my favorite ?? 100! I really recommend this camera! Do not forget to buy a Sony AG-R2 Attachment Grip , this will add to you new sensations from using RX100 M2

This is my wife's third Sony RX 100 M2. The first one suffered spill damage. The second one, only two years old, developed problems with the SD card slot and wouldn't hold the card. So, we are on #3. She likes the M2 for the lens range of 28-100 equiv. vs. the new ones of 24 - 70 equivalent. The newest model that goes up to 200 is nice, but over double the price. It is a great camera but not very rugged, so treat it gently. The cost to repair it is prohibitive. The lens is super sharp and the photos are comparable to cameras with a larger sensor. Highly recommended. Subtracting one star for the cost of repairing if they should break.

I bought this camera second hand after some research. I compared the speifications of the entire RX100 range along with similar offerings from Canon and decided that the Mark 2 offered what I needed. I wanted a large sensor compact camera for travel as I was fed up having to compromise on quality using a noisy small sensor in a standard point and shoot camera. The RX100M2 offers everything I wanted and I opted for the Mark 2 because it had the longest battery life, biggest zoom and an MI shoe for a flash gun and other accessories. I already have a Sony flash gun and another (Sony) camera that takes the same battery and remote control. I have been very happy with the camera since I have had it and it produces very good low noise pictures. RAW format files are editable in Sony's latest software offering. The size and weight of the camera are ideal for travel. There are a couple of negative points - the electronic eyepiece (should you want it) is extremely expensive compared to the current price of the camera, so remote shooting via WiFi will have to suffice. The image stabilisation is good, but still requires a very steady hand in low light. There have many improvements to image stabilisation in the last 5-6 years which I am sure are installed in the later cameras in this series. That said, this camera packs a massive punch in a tiny package.

is Great for video, but not that great for photo, if you do video blogging is great for that, but it takes too long to focus, and the focusing is off, putting it in manual focusing is a pain, and the menu is the worse that I've seen, Sony is not know for their menu placement.

Small camera with RAW, good JPEG picture that makes me do not waste my time to do RAW post process. If the lens range covers 24mm to 100mm and comes with GPS geotagging, 6 stars then.

PERFECT FOR ACTIVE SENIOR'S LIFESTYLE
By BARRY Y.
If you are like me, it's a great time of life... retired senior with four grandchildren under 5 years old, my photography has begun to coalesce around: grandkid portraits/parties/milestones; exotic travel/adventure trips; and, a renewed interest in photography as a hobby. But, life is not always that idyllic, with age have also come eyesight and dexterity limitations that caused me to put aside my hulking DSLR and my camcorder to seek the ideal instrument -- a prosumer-level pocket-sized pow...

In love
By NATHAN B.
This camera is everything I hoped for and more: - It's built like a tank yet still manages to fit in your pocket - It is speedy in operation - It has full manual controls and intuitive ergonomics - It has a huge sensor for the size, and a fast lens meaning I can achieve shallow depth of field when I want - I really like the quality of the pop up flash. Very Yashica T4 like - The lens is tack sharp, as is the LCD screen - High ISO shots very usable - Blows competition in its category out of t...

The Sony DSC-RX100 II with its 1-inch sensor (a bit smaller than Micro Four Thirds), the Sony DSC-RX100M2. offers several more advanced features and claims improved image quality over the RX100, which will continue to be available. While it physically looks the same as the RX100 (which will continue to be available), the Sony DSC-RX100M2 adds Wi-Fi sharing, and a new imaging sensor that Sony saes will deliver better image quality and less noise in low light. The Sony DSC-RX100M2 also addresses one of the major knocks against the original Sony DSC-RX100, which was a lack of a hot shoe/data port to accomodate an electronic viewfinder and/or flash.
Sony DSC-RX100M2 Key features:
New 1" 20.2 MP Exmor R sensor
Bright F1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* zoom lens Simple connectivity to smartphones via Wi-Fi or NFC
ISO range 160-12800, advanced noise reduction
Up to 0.13 seconds with high speed AF
P/A/S/M operating modes via control ring
JPEG and RAW
Multi-interface Smart Accessory Shoe
Full HD movies at 60p/24p with full exposure control
Tiltable, 1,229k dot, 3-inch LCD
Wi-Fi features
In addition to Wi-Fi support for connecting to smartphones, the DSC-RX100M2 also supports NFC (near field communication) - a first for Sony digital cameras - providing "touch connection" operation when transferring images to Android smartphones and tablets. Users touch devices to connect; no complex set-up is required. When using Smart Remote Control - a feature that allows shutter release to be controlled by a smartphone - the connection between the DSC-RX100MR and the smartphone can be established by touching devices.
Zippy AF claimed
To improve focusing speed and sensitivity, Sony says the Exmor R CMOS sensor uses its rapid throughput to deliver high-quality image signals to the camera's BIONZ½ processor, which provides intelligent response data to a new high speed actuator motor in the lens. Sony claims fast, DSLR-like focusing speeds even in low light.
New Shoe
A Multi Interface Shoe (Sony's proprietary version of a hot shoe) will accommodate an external flash, stereo microphone, or electronic viewfinder. This is an important addition; rather than forcing you to rely exclusively on the LCD monitor (which may be difficult in bright sunlight and other shooting situations) you will be able to use an EVF to frame images by holding the camera up to your eye, which is a more comfortable way of shooting for many photographers.
Control Ring
The control ring around the lens can be assigned to adjust various features (at various values), from basics like zooming and aperture to creative functions like Picture Effect.
More cool features:
A customizable function button can be assigned one of seven different functions.
Optical Steady Shot uses 3-way digital image stabilization to avoid rolling, clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation, a useful thing for video.
HDR up to 6 stops is available and can be captured in a split second, although a tripod is recommended.
Auto Object Framing zooms in on a person in a horizontal photo and crops to a vertical, recognizing the face in the scene. * 15 Picture Effect Modes, 6 creative styles.
