Questions & Answers

Denis w : how does the camera buffer performs? ThanksJ. FORREST C : It's very fast. I'm not a fast shooter, every shot I take is timed to an event, never rapid fire.RICK Z : I've had very little issue with the camera buffer processing my shots. It performed very well in the past few weeks I've shot at 10 frames a second as my Grandson came down a playground slide. It also has performed well last weekend as I use it in the exposure bracketing mode to produce about 300 pictures of a farm for a local charity auction. I do not shoot in Raw very much, but when I do notice a slight lag.EVELYN R : I take photos of animals and needed a fast camera for still shots and this camera really fills the bill. I can catch the action I need with just the clarity I need. I recommend this camera.D K K : Pretty well. With a fast SD card, I get 13 RAW+JPEG shots off in sequence, then the shots slow to about one per second. After letting off the shutter release, it can take 20-30 seconds to write all of the shots to the card, but you are able to take single shots after about 14 seconds. Low-continuous rate works better, ai can take about 17 shots before the shooting rate slows.I'm sure performance would be better if only shooting JPEG.
Steve W : Does the a65 have focus peaking?Scott R : Yes, I have mine set to Bright Yellow.ANDREW R : Yes, this camera appears to be equipped with "focus peaking".
Shopper : Is there a way to program this camera for back button focus?J. WILLIAM M : I am not aware of a technique to do this but if you find one, please let me know!!!!ANDREW R : If I understand your question, I believe the "Focus Hold" button can be set for this mode. I would recommend consulting your owners manual for details.

Great workhorse

I bought the A65 in February of this year. I upgraded from my A200. I shoot everything from wildlife to indoor sports under really bad lighting. At this point I don't know how many times my camers has rolled over but it has been at least 4 or 5 times. I dont use a lot of the auto or presets but live in manual modes. I love being able to change the perspective for moto cross, shoot a panorama without spending large amounts of time post processing. 10fps with the right card and an 8sec ride is covered. Eventhough the viewfinder is electronic I shoot with both eyes open so the lag in the digital display doesnt bother me. The manufacture says battery life is just under 500 frames. I can shoot about 2500 frames on a battery or an equivelent of about 3.5 hours with gps on and back display turned off. Drawbacks are the sd cards for me and that the high iso noise reduction is disabled in RAW. There are several other features that you loose in RAW and in full manual, however I have found work arounds for what I need. For the price you really can't complain it is comparable to a few camera bodies that retail for almost twice the price.

Sony Alpha DSLR SLT A65

This is maybe the worst camera I have bought. I do mostly wildlife and scenery photos and flying in the air the purple around the subject of the photo is horrible along with trying to take photos of something in the snow. Low light isn't a good one either very poor quality and if you use auto modes. I have found the digital noise also to be horrible and distracting from the photo

Happy I chose the Sony A65 over A55

The Sony A65 is fueling my creativity over the four months of use. I use a Sony A55 with SAL 18-250 lens at work and A65 with SAL 18-200 lens as my personal camera. I like both, but I am enjoying the A65 even more as I regain my passion for photography. My interests run the gammit (documenting fun moments with grandkids / exploring the world through a macro lense / Oddities of mother nature and architecture). I have not been disappointed as I practiced with all the features they packed into the A65.
