I spent a while reviewing the various options available and as I already had an SLT-A65 decided to keep in the Sony range so I could keep all the lenses I'd already purchased. The A77V has fitted in very nicely, my wife has the "hand me down". I plumped for the A77V over the mark 2 version mainly because I don't feel much need to be able to use the wifi feature.

I was very late to the Sony SLT cameras, but was always intrigued to try them out, but never got round to it. Now I am very pleased that I took the plunge and bought the Sony ST-A77v camera. It is excellent. I've had my Sony SLT-A77v just over a week and I am absolutely loving it. The image quality is excellent with great dynamic range and detail. The features, build quality and design is a joy to use. Having used Canon and Nikon systems for years, my first Sony DSLT shows real innovation in photographic equipment. The OLED viewfinder is a revelation. I love the real time effect changes as I adjust my exposure settings. Unlike a classic optical viewfinder, I get to see how my exposure will actually look before capturing the image. I have paired my SLT-A77v with the SAL1650 DT16-50mm f2.8 SSM lens and the results are fantastic. What a quality pairing of camera and lens. Weather sealed so I can shoot in any and all weathers without concern, AF is fast, accurate and the images are beautiful at ISO up to 6400 (where a bit of noise creeps in). Some people have complained about noise at higher ISO, and it is true, there is noise, but the images the A77 captures, can preserve detail with mid level post production noise reduction applied. With 24.3MP at your disposal, applying more aggressive noise reduction and then resizing the image downwards, creates more the usable and highly detailed images (just as I did with my Nikon D800 36.3MP images at high ISO). Considering most images used these days are online, using the highest ISO available to the A77 and then resizing the images downwards, still makes very usable images. I hope Sony continue supporting the SLT cameras in their Alpha range. Having converted recently, I plan on using them for years to come.

I’ve been using this camera for a couple of years but due to a lot of time spent travelling (with an RX100m3 on my back) I’m still getting to grips with all the features.

With just a couple of exceptions this camera is everything I could ever imagine I need (or want). I wear glasses and with other DLSR's I need to look at the back screen for information and review an image. What a pain glasses on, off, on, off.... with the A77 and most other Sony cameras it's all in the viewfinder so I never have to look at the back screen. Wonderfil images and I find the menu system very intuitive and easy to use. 2 Gripes - there's no tethered system - would be so useful in the studio or photoshoot with a client and why the unique hot shoe? That said the Sony flash and wireless capabilities are superb.

I am delighted with this camera which is an upgrade to my sturdy dependable Alpha 230. This new camera feels very well built andcomfortable to use. It is immensely capable and all the controls are very easy to find and use.

+ A really nice camera to use, handles very well and rotating screen so useful. Good video at 50P in daylight. - Poor noise over 400 iso. No headphone jack. No record level meters

Bought this to complement my 2 existing Sony A700's with a view to fully migrating over (next purchase may be the A77V mkII) if I find the all enhanced features & the electronic viewfinder especially, suits all my needs.

I bought this camera recently, as my KonicaMinolta 5D packed in. My main camera to date has been the Sony A450, which I find is a nice camera. No frills, it does what I want. Some years ago, I bought the Sony A37 on a whim, and I find it rather small for my large hands, so it lies on a shelf. Now I did look at the Sony A850 and A900, because I have a lot of Minolta AF full frame lenses, but I found that the prices asked for the bodies were out of my league. So I settled for the Sony A77 after reading revues, all mainly positive. I am not disappointed, and I am glad that I made this decision.

I have owned the A77 for a couple of months, and still have the A65 as well. They both feel good in the hand, although the A77 feels like, and is a more capable camera. I was impressed with its tracking focus facility, and the accuracy of it's exposures. A good quality multi directional screen is very handy for awkward shots like Macro etc. I am very happy with my choice of cameras, and there are plenty of good quality lenses on offer, both from Sony ad the older Minolta range. Love this camera.

I bought this a77V to replace my aging a33 and to alongside my a65V. I was disappointed that Sony decided to drop the GPS....which i have found very useful with my a65. I did not want a 77mk2 as the GPS had been remove and Wifi added....!!!!!!. I hunted for sometime trying to find a 77, only various site selling secondhand and you had to buy without trying and trust the seller!. I was lucky to found a brand new one from Camera Jungle following an add in the sky at night mag. I have to say they were really nice people to deal with. The camera is similar but slightly better then the a65 and as it seems Sony in their wisdom dropped GPS...i better look after these cameras. As you can see i like Sony cameras and used them for years. I photograph sceneries...mountains , auroras and from astro pictures also. I was extremely happy to find a brand new a77V but Sony dropping the GPS is a real backward step.

Do we really need all those megapixels? The smaller the pixel, the smaller the area for gathering photons. I'd have preferred fewer, bigger pixels to cope with real world issues like low light noise rather than more and more pixels trying to out resolve the lens. The viewfinder is an interesting idea, but you lose the first couple of seconds to a bright white blur as the camera adjusts the gain and can't see properly in bright sun. The pellicule mirror is the real deal breaker for the SLT and why I'm moving away from the Sony/Minolta platform. It combines the worst of mirror and mirror less technology in one package, surpassing them both for inconvenience. The mirror is apparently unclean-able for anything that won't shift for a blower. Factor in the cost and inconvenience of sending away for this expensive replacement.

I have had my Sony A77 for 6 months, I an safely say that it is one of the best camera's I have ever had. I have had Nikon & Cannon but it doesn't matter what I write about my Sony if you are stuck in a groove of tradition of Nikon & Cannon. I never thought I would ever change from Nikon but I am so glad I did. Now I have a new flexible system of photography which even professionals admit the quality is good ( those who are not brainwashed by Nikon or Canon) Come on people there are other cameras out there.

I have had the A77v for two and a half years and found it excellent in every respect. It does everything I want to a high standard. I came through from film cameras with Minolta, graduated to digital with a Sony A100 and, having had very good results with that camera plus compatible equipment, purchased the A77v with the power grip. I'm very glad I did. A great camera for any type of photography. Intuitive and easy to use for beginner to expert.

I bought this to replace a damaged A550. The extra features are proving to be very useful. Have taken about 100 images so far, both in JPEG & RAW. The compression algorithms for JPEG are very good. Have not yet had chance to use all the features but those I have used, eg, panorama have worked very well.

I have been using Minoltas since the late 90-s, later on a Sony Alpha and now my newest sony alpha 77. I liked the idea of being able to use lenses from earlier minoltas, so I bought an alpha 7 years ago. It was getting a little rusty from the constant use so I decided to buy a new camera, and of course it had to be in the line of my earlier cameras. I am completely satisfied with the picture quality and like many features that are new in this camera.

pleased I chose the Sony A77, this camera is so easy to get on with, everything does what it should, and in continuous mode its like a F1 car. An AWESOME bit of kit at a great price for what it does, the features and the quality of build.

I bought the A77 as a replacement for my A700, and within a few uses I wished I had purchased it earlier. There are many innovative ideas within the camera itself, but the ease of use in changing both minor and major settings really makes this camera stand out. I'm ashamed to say my camera has taken a couple of tumbles, however it seems not enough to mark the body. Being a traditional SLR user I find using the EVF delightful. The capabilities of the camera have been highlighted by other camera owners who have expressed envy when given a chance to use the camera.

I bought my first Sony A77v over 2 years ago and loved it so much that after having an accident with it I bought another one just before Christmas. I think it would take a lot for me to change.

Upgraded from a350 in April & love the features / performance of a77. Beautiful shots with great colour and definition. My only annoyance with this product is the back button which is ultra sensitive.

Bought in the 2014 to compliment Sony A580. EVF very useful to check exposure on the shoot. JPG should have been as sharp as new A77 MK2.
