Questions & Answers

Andrew S : This is definitely very 8 not version 9?DAVID R : As of my purchase in September of 2013 it is still version 8. I have not yet received notification that 9 has been released.RONALD A Y : Yes, v.8, but product description says free upgrade to v.9, which to my knowledge is in line with DxO's policies. After installing, even if you keep v.8, there are downloads and camera & lens profiles to download and update. So, if you buy this, install and register the software on DxO website and you should get the free upgrade to v.9 (you can check there website beforehand). If you buy directly from DxO, the sale price right now is $99, so Adorama is $20 less. Just check DxO website to make sure your camera and lenses are supported.Marco R : I'm sorry but I don't understand your question. What do you want to know exactly ?DAVE S : Yes it is version 8, but you get the free upgrade to version 9 right out of the box, so you are really getting version 9 for a cheaper price.BRUCE S : The license you buy is for version 8 with a free upgrade to version 9. I downloaded version 9 and entered the license key and it worked fine.
Shopper : Is this DXO Optics 8 Standard Edition supports /compatibility Nikon D600 camera? ThanksRALF D D : You can use the DXO website to determine if your camera is supported by DXO Optics Standard. Most popular cameras are supported. My Nikon D7100 is supported, and I would be surprised if the D600 is not. Use the DXO website to find out. Please be aware that DXO uses the camera body + lens to provide a profile for correcting your NEF files. When using the website, have your camera model and your lens models available. BTW, DXO works better than anything else I have seen, including Adobe Camera Raw, CS6, etc, etc.RONALD A Y : According to DxO Optics website, the Nikon D600 is supported only by the Elite edition, not the Standard edition. This is a big complaint from users of many cameras. However, they do have sales several times of year.REGIS T : No, it has to be the ELITE Edition which will support all or most full frame digital cameras.DAVID F : The standard edition does NOT support the Nikon D600. You need the Elite edition.

Bought at a discount to upgrade to 9

I primarily use Lightroom for my workflow, in fact the only reason I bought this item was primarily what it is known for, the noise reduction. Needless to say it serves it purpose. It is the best de-noising program I have ever seen. It has actually given my beloved Canon 7D new life for higher ISO's, because I can clean up the images quite well without losing detail or really degrading my images. I am very happy with this purchase both with Adorama for the fantastic deal and the program itself.

Easy to use

First, Adorama's free shipping is faster than any other retailers. I ordered the box version rather than download from DxO as I like to have the CD, which DxO charges extra for- so ordering from Adorama saved me $15. I've used several Raw processors, and find DxO Optics Pro the easiest to use, even in Advanced mode. I didn't want Lightroom, as the catalog system can cause problems, and DxO uses a file browser mode instead. However, when the selected folder files load in DxO's own browser, it performs the default edits on all the thumbnails, which is very slow. Selecting and editing an image is fast on a decent system, and the tools are fast and responsive. DxO default settings for camera and lens combinations throw you in the ballpark, but I usually have to use Advanced Mode to tweak them. The file process and output is a little slow, and the 16 bit tiff output doesn't allow for any standard compression selections- a step behing other prgrams. I waited awhile to buy this program until DxO supported all of the cameras and lenses I have. If your equpment isn't supported you won't get much benefit from the program, which is it's main drawback.

Good buy

Hold on tight because the power of DxO will take you for a ride. I meet the sales and edu manager at a trade show sometime ago really nice young man at first I thought he was full of it. But after putting some serious thought into it I pulled the trigger and made the purchase he was nice enough to give me his info and offer me a private one on one training and I was blown away by the power of DxO and there dedicated modules next thing you know I found myself re-processing images from 2 yrs ago. Great product and great support bye bye adobe raw hello DxO.

Other important functions like dust removal, color management, exposure and contrast and RAW conversion give you the ability to tweak and modify to suit each specific situation.
