Shopper : I'm buying this for my nephew who's a student. Do you need verification of his student ID (if so, what do you need) or is the verification by Nik themselves?MILTON B. P : Yes, you will need verification of student status to get number to unlock the program. I used my email address at school and that worked. However, if you don't have that the adobe website tells you the type of info you need.DANA C : Yes you will need verification that he is a student. I don't remember everything they needed but it may have only been the university/schools website address that we needed. But if your nephew is in college you could provide a copy of his school id. Nik contacts you about the information and will supply the forms of id they require. A quick process for the most part. HAROLD J : Yes, you will have to verify that you are a student. When you receive the product, a product id number will come along with it. You must provide that number and a student id to Adobe. Once this information is verified, Adobe will then send you the serial number to activate the product.
CLAUDIA L : If my computer crashes and I lose the software, will I be able to re-download the software if I have my registration key? If not, what can I do to be able to reinstall?BENJAMIN U : Hi Claudia, I had to wipe my HD and reinstall Windows and therefore had to reload Nik. Nik fortunately sends you the Academic Keys via e-mail so you will no issue.ARISTOTLE R : Yes, the Nik Software website has links to download all their software - all you need if your registration key. Nik customer service is also very helpful and responsive if needed.BRIAN W : In short, "yes," provided you can still download the version of the software that you bought the key for. When you download the software you get a full version of the software for a trial period that times-out after a certain number of days from the first day you use it. After that time, you can unlock it with any valid product key. If you lose the software, you should be able to download a new demo and use the same key number to unlock it. However, if you buy a key for 2.0, and Nik later upgrades to 3.0 (an upgrade that you have to pay for), Nik could decide to stop supporting 2.0 and pull it off its download site - and you're screwed unless you have a backup or disk image to restore your computer from.BILL C : Yes you can. Just contact NIK and explain problem and they will help you reinstall or give you instructions. Have key code handy.
