I bought this subwoofer a month ago and let me tell you I am impressed! The sound quality is phenomenal! The speaker itself is beautifully designed and the construction of the box is amazing! This subwoofer really hits it had my windows rattling! I love it! Thanks JBL

Great for a 800-1500 cu ft space, lacks punch in larger spaces but remains musical. Sound melds quite seamlessly with a pair of Martin Logan LX16 bookshelves, makes it sound like I have a couple of nice floor standing speakers, which is what you want for music, my primary use for this sub. Also gives a nice rumble playing video games. Not the tightest bass I've ever heard, nor does it go super-deep, but like I say it's very adequate and pleasant and enhances smaller speakers quite nicely. Has been 100% reliable for the 3 months I've had it. Cabinet seems solid, only vibrates a tiny bit when unit really hitting. My old ears don't detect any significant cabinet resonance transmitted in the sound, and haven't heard any port chuff either. Looks are adequate, the glossy top and the 4 rounded sides are a nice touch and may enhance the WAF a little bit. But it's a black, vinyl-clad subwoofer box. It looks like you expect, which is to say ... not particularly attractive. Size is reasonable though, and it's easily moved/handled by most folks, not too cumbersome or heavy. This all said, at full pop, there's better options like a BasX, or save up another hundo and get a Speedwoofer, which sounds quite a bit better than this unit. That's what my 4-star rating is about. When this goes on its occasional big sale, it's an incredible value. You can't touch the value on this thing at a buck-fiddy (well, unless you find something else on a great sale). It's 6 stars then ;)

Bought this sub a year ago(for $179.00) to replace a 20 y/o JBL sub. The old one was still going strong. But with the upgrade to the a pair of Studio 209s floorstanding and a Studio 235c center channel this was a no-brainer. I love the tight, accurate bass of the 250p. This total upgrade takes my home theater from awesome to Beast Mode!!!

not only did the board go out! JBL strung mr along for 6 months that they where making me a new one. waiting for parts to come in. they charged me for a new board for 100 bucks. but they sent me the wrong one. they closed my "case file" after i complained. i purchased the 12' studio sub. larry

Great subwoofer and produces clean solid bass. Initially it might not sound great but after allowing it to break-in for about a week (most subwoofers require this break-in period, I am impressed with the sound quality. Nothing to complain about. However, this subwoofer is not for everyone. Everyone's needs & tastes are different. My setup is a 5.2.1 home theater setup for music and video. I allowed my Yamaha receiver to do the setup and configuration via YPAO and also handle all the bass management. Thus, I am never overwhelmed by the bass produced by this subwoofer...subtle bass when required and thunder when needed. Love this!! If you want thunder all day long...then you must configure your receiver accordingly and this subwoofer will deliver!

Have owned for approximately 30+ days and WOW. Finally getting it broke in and understanding this bass monster. It is everything I hoped for #1 music, movies and standard TV. Former semi- pro musician, sound man for bands with or with out my PA. It just gets better everyday. It’s good for set and leave but is excellent for sound fiddlers who have to just adjust to perfection of sound. This unit is in a 15x15 room and will rattle the rafters if that is what I needed, it’s not but for perfection of sound on the low end it is everything I hoped for. Break them in - in moderation and the God of Thunder named JBL will reward.

I'm no connoisseur of speakers but this rocks my house. Very impressed. Set it up on a 7.1 system (have 6 jbl 8" in wall speakers, 1 JBL center channel not in wall. Love the sound quality and ease of setup.

Being an "old school fan" we had the luxury of 3-way speakers, . . . & that was it ! At first, I thought this subwoofer was just another gimic, . . . far be that from the truth. After reviewing several subwoofers on Amazon, I went directly to the JBL web site and found the SUB 250P on sale much cheaper than on Amazon. JBL has always built premium sound equipment, so I did not hesitate to order one for my new home theater setup.

Gotta admit, this is a pretty nice sub. I purchased an SVS sub and it sounded terrible, it did nothing but vibrate and rumble (that's great if that's what your into). Not me I like a sub that thumps when it is supposed too. This JBL gives me both thunder and bass not just rumbling and vibration. Its a keeper for me.
