My JBL Flip 3 was set too close to a candle, lit on fire, was run under water, still works and sounds incredible. I can't recommend this speaker enough.

Virtually indestructible

I have multiple JBL products as well as other brands of speakers.  Have been really happy  with the ease of Bluetooth setup with devices and the quality of sound.

I found this product at the bottom of a creek it was covered in mud and submerged for days I took it out and it immediately powered on amazing

Waterproof!

The female connector / charging port is EXTREMELY LOW QUALITY. After plugging the device into the charging port, the female connector (which is built into the unit) split apart internally. I can no longer charge the speaker. After calling JBL, they would not fix the speaker, and offered me a 10% discount to buy a new speaker.

I do not recommend JBL products, and will not purchase their products again.

Cannot charge the speaker. Zero support from JBL

Had 3 Flip3s over the last 5-6 yrs and never really tested the splash proofing but took a 2.5yr old Flip3 kayaking yesterday and of course the kayak flipped 3 minutes after starting to listen to the music. Speaker was fully submerged but still floating just below the surface for about a minute. Never actually stopped working but shut itself off and on a times so we shut it off(the best we could) for about an hour and it never missed a beat after that. Still sounds great and works fine the day after. Definitely a great BT speaker for under $100. Thanks JBL.

Great buy!

The JBL Flip 3 has no fear of water. Advertised as "splashproof", our JBL Flip 3 endured six days exposed to Mother Nature's whims--weathering +80 F heat and thunderstorms.

And as though this abuse never happened, the small speaker continues to deliver HIGH QUALITY sound with an unparalleled passion.

Great Sound

I bought this puppy years ago... Oh I don’t know maybe 5? I bought it when it was the newest flip! Anyway, this speaker is awesome! I still use it almost every day and it still has its excellent sound quality! Sadly, it has to be plugged in to work, but certainly only from old age. All speakers I’ve bought from JBL have been fantastic! I would absolutely recommend. Enjoy :

Still love it!

I bought this a year ago and it is playing very bad now. I used it every lightly, overall maybe 50 times charged and it is already distorted. Can not listen to it and the repair will cost 40 Dollars.

Not durable

My husband has a JBL flip.  Hes a painter and uses it for work.  One of the workers dropped the speaker into a full 5 gallon bucket of paint.  He grabbed it out and ran to the hose.  He sprayed it with high pressure water hose.  That happened over a year ago and it still works great.  Sound is amazing.

My Flip 3 is recently out of warranty, and unfortunately will no longer accept the MicroUSB charging cord. This unit is in perfect condition otherwise, and has always been in a case. 

I've come to find out that Harman/JBL does NOT support their products once out of warranty. They will not fix the unit, and customer support has been no help. 

I've attached pics just to illustrate the level of care the device has received. I still have box, and it's always been in a case. 

If this is a rare instance of a product failing prematurely, a smart company would offer a customer-supportive approach. For a small price they could keep customers happy. Instead,  I'm beginning to think this must happen often, and that they don't want to carry the expense of repairing faulty units. I have been back and forth with support for weeks, and they offer zero help. 

Sad that such a great sounding speaker has such a short life span - and NO path for repair by the manufacturer.

Great....While it worked.

I have bought my Flip 3 some months ago and very rarely used it. It is no more under warranty.
Yesterday, I wanted to use it, but before, I had the very bad idea to check the firmware version.
I always charge it before any use.
So, I downloaded HID and connected my Flip 3 to my computer.
It worked fine : the firmware is the lastest one. Nice.
But after that, my Flip 3 didn't start anymore. The power button didn't work.
I have checked on the Internet. It seems it is nearly a common problem.
I have tried the provided tricks to let my Flip 3 work again, including keeping down the power button during (far more than) 30 seconds, none worked. I have tried also some buttons combinations. Without any effect on my power button.
When I connect it to any power source (PC or charger) the power button lights on. So do the first 4 leds (the 5th one is blinking). When I disconnect it from the current, I get the power off sound. But nothing else.
So. Now My Flip 3 is only good for the trash, because I only wanted to check the firmware version.
I'm very glad.

best size vs. sound, don't bother with anything other than JBL, you won't get this quality of sound.

Good low end, accurate mids.

Needed more sound in my work area and this is perfect! Now I can focus on my project without hearing “MOM!” every 5 minutes!

I got this speaker a few years ago for Christmas. I use it the most for detassling in the summer, and you can hear it from at least 50 yards out. Bonus that it could handle the morning due, as well.

Great Speaker

I saw this on sale and finally broke down and bought a quality bluetooth speaker. I have had several no name speakers, none of them come close to this one. I don’t consider myself an audio snob but I do like quality and this speaker is quality, even the charging cord is of a higher grade than you see with other speakers.

Phenominal! Little speaker

For a small speaker it sounds super good, great, muy bueno. BUT the battery life is very bad. I am getting only up to 3 hrs per charge. If the battery last longer I would have give it a 5 star.

Great for spoken word for talk shows. Limited for music, high and low end struggle but are ok.

The sound is amazing and the battery lasts a long time.  The only issue in the black on black power button is flush with the housing and hard to find in low light.

This has really great sound.Does not pair with any of my Amazon Fire tablets.
This is why I didn't give this five stars. I bought this just for my Amazon Fire tablets.

I bought this device about 3 weeks ago and now I wish I would have gotten the 4. The bass sounds a lot better on the 4 vs the 3.

Sound quality is very clear even with full volume.

So, I bought this refurbished, so this isn't a review on a brand new one. When I first got it, i hooked it up with a mp3 wire, I usually do this instead of blue tooth to save battery. The speaker had a strange click in the background, almost like it was blown. I was going to return it, but decided to try it with blue tooth first, and for some reason, it sounds fine in that mode. I decided to keep it, since i got it so cheap. Sound quality is very good on blue tooth mode, better than your speakers that go on sale for $10 every once in a while. Battery life doesn't seem very long, but mabe because its refurbished, and didn't get a fresh one.

Thank you for the opportunity to purchase and try this smaller version of the JBL Charge 2 that I love! Still sounds and hits like a JBL should. I've got two negative reactions to this item though. 

1: When you turn on the speaker you get this loud guitar strum; when you connect to Bluetooth you get loud, short piano key sounds. Preferably, I don't like that, just keep things the same such as the Charge 2 on/off/connecting sounds.

2: This speaker does not have a flat base, like the Charge 2 does so it will roll forward or backward if the surface you have it sitting on gets bumped or moved.

So far this speaker is a good buy but I won't buy another one of these until/unless it keeps to the functionality and features of the Charge 2.

Sounds of the JBL Charge 2, Only Smaller

I bought a pair for stereo sound a few weeks ago; every time the speakers are paired there is a 10 second lag, which re-occurs when the volume is adjusted.  JBL tech support cannot fix the problem and so the product was returned.
