JBL PartyBox Club 120 160W Portable Bluetooth Party Speaker

I did a fair amount of research on party speakers and the JBL Party Box Club 120 stood out. I then purchased one and loved it so much that I purchased another one. I broke them out at a beach party and a gentleman who was in attendance loved them so much that he told me that he would be ordering a pair the next day!

I bought the Party Box to use for outdoor family gatherings. It did not disappoint! The sound quality is superb. When used inside, make sure to turn the volume down low or your entire house will be vibrating! The only drawback is that it is heavy and doesn't wheels.

Overall a good speaker, BUT they don't make a battery charger for the battery and that is why a lot of people by this in the first place. I got this speaker wanting to leave one battery in it, take the other home at night and charge it and swap them out in the morning but once the box arrived I figured out that the batteries can only be charged from inside the speaker. Besides that extremely annoying part it has very good sound quality and loud volume.

I was a little hesitant to get a refurbished unit but I am so glad that I did! Everything works as if it was brand new. The sound is amazing at volume 1 or all the way up. The light show is awesome and you can control it through the JBL party box app which is even cooler! Might have to order a second one for more surround sound. I have so many JBL speakers big and small and have also given many as gifts. Always impressed.

Wow! I really wanted a 320 or even a 710 when I heard it in a store. I realized those may be overkill for my needs and I was right. The 120 is more than enough for most people. It gets loud and stays clear even at high volumes. What a wonderful piece of technology from JBL!

So I've only had this speaker for less than a week and I've never felt the want to post a review before about anything until now. I use this speaker everyday and for the size that it is man it is LOUD. I use this speaker at work in a loud environment and still am able to hear every instrument in a song. And at the end of the workday I take it home and plug into my surround sound setup boosting its sound incredibly. A wonderful speaker and I truly recommend buying.

Purchased this for our outdoor entertainment area. We thought about a more permanent landscape speaker install, but chose the JBL PartyBox120 for the portability and ease of use. I did not want to worry about other speakers outdoors all year in the AZ heat. We can always add another speaker if needed but so far the one speaker is perfect and loud enough for our needs. Kids love the microphones to sing along as well.

Bought this for playing music while we work on our fixer-upper cabin in the mountains. Its loud enough to hear all around the property, the music is clean and punchy, and the battery lasted an entire day of work and was still at almost half battery when I plugged it in at the end of the day. Overall Quality & Feel & Important Features: The build quality of this speaker is superb. Every detail was thought thoroughly and it's the perfect speaker for a gathering or party. From the little click that the handle makes when it locks in place to the rechargeable battery, this is one of the highest quality speakers I have owned. This will be my go-to speaker from now on for house parties or small gatherings as it is the perfect package for my needs. Not only it comes with incredible sound quality, but it also has guitar and microphone inputs which presents more opportunities for fun and entertainment. It's important to note that the speaker is quite heavy. Therefore, it cannot just be carried around easily despite the handle. ____________ The lights work very well and although they are not as customizable as a JBL Pulse speaker, there is a lighting setting for everyone. From a white strobe lighting to smooth and vibrant hue changes, they are very pleasant to watch and visually add value to the listening experience. The lights are responsive to audio as well, they move quicker once a louder note is played which is awesome. They are fully synchronized with the music. They work very effectively with house and techno genres as tracks usually have very prominent lows. So, in some cases, the lights fully match the track on beat, providing a concert-like experience. ____________ Battery life is amazing on this speaker. I didn't have to charge it for days when I was using it at home and in the backyard despite having the light show on the entire time. Another very useful feature is the removable battery. It's very small and the fact that it provides 12 hours of battery in that small size is outstanding technology and innovation. The speaker is built to last a while and it's built to keep the party going. ____________ On-speaker controls and buttons are designed nicely with proper indicators. They are smooth to the touch and twist. All buttons except the light and volume wheels light up which is very useful at night. The three action buttons also have different colors and that's a great touch. However, it would've been nice to have a customizability option for one or two of the buttons. The bubble button activates a female voice saying "Let's Party" with an energetic tone, thumbs up button plays a correct/winner type of tune (it's likely a sound effect you would play after a person answers a trivia question correctly). Lastly, the jog wheel/turntable button plays a DJ scratch noise for a second. I find myself pressing the scratch noise right before drops and "Let's Party" often, for fun. Moving along on top of the speaker, the bass boost button is very useful. There are two bass boost settings and it's clearly indicated with a dimmed and strong white light when activated. The little LED strip for the battery life works great as well, it indicates the remaining battery on the speaker very clearly. It usually lights up when a button is pressed, or the volume/lights are adjusted with the control wheels. It would've been nice to have the light show, and the play buttons actually light up as well to distinguish the difference easily at night and avoid accidental light or volume-level changes. Overall, all the controls someone would need are all located on the speaker. Many setting changes could be made directly on the speaker without the need for a mobile device. In addition, the back of the speaker has an input for the power cable, aux, and a USB Type-A to charge mobile devices. Most of us need extra juice when partying or after a long day so that is a useful add-on. The section that houses the aux, USB Type-A, guitar, and microphone inputs also has a little light shining from above and that's one of the coolest and most useful features I've seen in a speaker. ____________ Audio Quality: The speaker is equipped with the signature JBL Pro Sound, blasting 160 watts of power. It is very powerful both inside and outside. I didn't experience any significant sound distortion, the sound is very clear on all volume levels. The highs and mids are very crisp and defined, while the lows are punchy. The lows are incredible as there are two "Bass Boost" options via the button on the speaker. They make a recognizable difference and truly enhance the quality of the output. Especially in genres that include strong lows such as dance music/electro pop and rap. ____________ Overall, this is a very solid speaker with a powerful output and quality features. It's well-made with extra attention to detail.

The size works really well, mid-sized and weighs about 24 lbs. with a handle on top making it easy to take on the go, with battery life of 12 hours. My first impression id the premium materials and design, feel durable and made to last and waterproof IP rating, premium buttons. One thing to note is there is a swappable battery, you can keep the music going for long playback as well increasing the longevity of the speaker itself. The sound is amazing with deep base sporting 2 tweeters and 2 woofers with 160 watts of power using Bluetooth 5.4. I have used it as a musical backdrop for the balcony or at the beach, it's excellent. There are also DJ sound features that can be controlled on the or right on the top. Along the back panel which lights up at night, you have several inputs an USB, Axillary, 2 mic inputs (for karaoke, and guitar input. There is also a line out port so you can daisy chain this speaker this speaker to virtually any other speaker for added sound, in addition within the phone app you can connect other JBL speakers to create a stereo wireless sound stage. The stand out feature for me is the lightshow up front! The amazing and dazzling lights are very immersive giving the room a party vibe and of course can be turned off when I use this speaker within my home.

The JBL PartyBox Club 120 is a booming box speaker that sounds fantastic. Music blares out of it with excellent fidelity while the bass makes you tremble. The light effects it offers only add to the speaker's partying chops, turning it into a great addition for any party. The PartyBox 120 is impressively loud, and works well for outdoor or indoor gatherings (though your neighbors might complain). I've only used it at the 40-70 volume range so far and I'm still fairly sure my neighbors heard all the songs I played. The speaker has playback and volume controls on the top for convenience and they feel nice to use as well. The speaker's sound profile and lightshow are both customizable in the app, allowing great personalization for both features. It's battery life is excellent, capable of lasting through any party though it can also remain plugged in for longer times. The speaker's IPX rating is another plus, which definitely makes me a little more comfortable when I bring it around for pool parties. The speaker also has inputs for guitars and microphones for karaoke, something I've not tried yet, but am greatly looking forward to at my next party. All in all, its a fantastic choice for those looking for a party box speaker.

As usual JBL delivers. Amazing sound highs and lows. You can really crank up the Bass. I also love that it has a rechargeable battery that can also be replaced if needed. Having the battery allows it to be more portable. It has a built in handle of the top that allows for easier transport. The battery lasts a good amount of time. It is very easy to connect and control from your phone. The app is very intuitive and easy to understand. This is a great speaker if you like to entertain as a DJ or musician. Would highly recommend!!

I find myself repeating time and time again that JBL never ceases to amaze me with their products. Every time I get something new, I'm impressed all over again and left wondering how they manage to keep topping their selves. The PartyBox Club 120 is no different - super impressive sound (and lights). For starters, what I probably love the most about this is that it can run off an included battery. When mine was delivered, the battery was a little above 75% charged and I listened to this for several days on just the battery alone. I finally have it charging now through the included AC-power cable, but the battery is definitely long-lasting. This speaker is just under 2 ft. high and comes just above my knee-cap. The weight as shown on the site says 24.35 lbs., but it doesn't feel that heavy to me - maybe because of the sturdy handle on top that makes it convenient for carrying. The material it's made of feels strong and high quality. I think even playing music at its loudest that you wouldn't have to worry about it sliding or falling over. It connects via Bluetooth quickly and easily and there's even an option to pair it with identical speakers for true stereo/surround sound. Sound-wise, this thing is great. I work as a Audio Mixer and Sound Engineer and this definitely meets my standard of great sounding audio/music. It can get really loud - so loud that I normally only listen to it at under 50% volume. Whenever I throw my next party I'll be able to really crank it up, but until then if you're just listening at home or at a fairly small outing, listening between 30%-40% will do. On the top panel of the speaker itself, you are able to turn the volume up/down, pause and skip forward/back songs, as well as boost the bass between the options of Deep or Punchy. Like most JBL products I've used, the real magic happens when you use their app. For this, you'll need to download the JBL PartyBox app. It works with both iOS and Android and the app performs the same on both from my tests. In the app, there's some bonus features for the sound that allows you to choose from some EQ presets or create your own with a 5-band Equalizer. This speaker also features a really cool set of light options that will really make your party that much more fun and you can alternate through the different light settings via a knob and button on the top panel, or for more control you can control the lights and colors/patterns through the app as well. This does serve as a karaoke type of speaker as well, so you're able to hook up a microphone or guitar via connection inputs inside of the rear panel on the speaker. There - you have input control as well, which can also be controlled via the app, too. I don't have a guitar to hook up and test, but I did record a video demonstrating a microphone test as well as showing the different light settings you can choose from. There's a separate Equalizer specifically for your microphone which allows you to adjust the bass, treble and echo - which I loved as different microphones sonically have a different characteristic about them, so I thought it was great that JBL thought to include that. Additionally, there are some DJ-like party effects such as record scratch sounds, vocal effects, music fx and sound fx that you can control from within the app or by 3 buttons on the top panel. I loved the record scratch sounds and the music fx, though I thought the vocal effect choices could have been better. Nonetheless, I think it's cool to have such features included. All-in-all, I'd give this speaker 10 out of 10. Out of the different JBL products I have, this is definitely one of my favorites and I can't wait to throw a party so I can turn this baby all the way up to 100% volume. Great job, JBL - well done!

I'm really enjoying the JBL Party Box 120. The sound is really great. I brought two mics and the sound was so clear with no feedback. Can't wait to have karaoke night! The addition of the JBL PartyBox app is a plus. The app allows you to ajust the sound of the speaker and also the microphone. And the special efx sounds adds more fun while playing music. The only issue I have is the JBL Partybox app doesn't connect right away. I have to close the app 2 or 3 times for it to connect to my tablet or phone. The kids likes the lights on the front.

I am rating the JBL Party Box Club 120 with 5 stars but with one exception....that is, the Club 120 is almost 25 lbs. If the buyers intention is to carry the speaker more than a couple of minutes I believe this should have integrated wheels and a telescoping handle. The fold away handle is very convenient and stores nicely. The sound is good quality with nice bass (2 x 5.25" woofers, 160 watt RMS) and the light show adds to a party, celebration, or get together atmosphere. The Club 120 is now my go to portable speaker system because the sound quality is really good, the bluetooth for allowing me to use a headset works well, and I love the compact size. There a couple inputs for microphones and even a guitar input. This has an impressive 12 hr battery life (removable battery so you can buy a spare) and a splash proof rating (IPX4). Connecting to the JBL is super fast and if you have other Partybox speakers you have the ability to link them all together. The Club 120 fits nicely into the trunk of my car as well. Impressive sound, portable with 12hr battery life, somewhat light weight, nice light show options, and it even has 3 DJ sound affect buttons.

The JBL PartyBox Club 120 is a portable, wireless speaker that is perfect for indoor or outdoor use. The PartyBox 120 features a durable plastic exterior with a very nice mesh speaker grille. The speaker has IPX4 water resistance that means that it can come into contact with water splashes as well as dust without suffering damage. As such, it is ideal for outdoor use without having to worry about if it starts to rain or if you want to use it poolside. The PartyBox 120 is no light weight - it weighs in at 31 lbs. To compensate for the weight, a hinged handle that extends out from the upper center allows the speaker to be comfortable to carry. I was able to easily carry the speaker up and down a fairly long set of stairs leading to my patio. As any good Bluetooth party speaker should, the PartyBox 120 produces vibrant lighting effects. The PartyBox 120 has a light panel near the top and bottom with additional supplemental lights on the top panel. My grandson thoroughly enjoyed creating his own light show with the simple to use controls. Speaker operation is done through top panel that includes some physical buttons and knobs for playback control as well as a slot for you to place your Smartphone without the risk of it falling. The PartyBox 120 control panel is in the center and two dials on each side and it has an Auracast multi-speaker pairing button in the center. There are also a series of buttons located between the control panel and the handle that provide additional effects. The arrangement of available ports is located on a rear and that can be hidden through a retractable panel to allow its waterproof capacity. The PartyBox 120 incorporates Auracast speaker pairing for multi-speaker connections. The 120 has the capability of daisy-chaining multiple speakers using a wired connection. The PartyBox 120 has a dedicated microphone input and a second input that supports a microphone or guitar, with a button letting you toggle between each mode. The PartyBox 120 includes Bluetooth 5.4 support which is a step up from the 5.1 offered by other speakers and consequently offers superior wireless communication improvements. Unlike other Bluetooth speakers which require speakers to have a master and slave relationship, Auracast allows multiple speakers to connect directly through the source device. I was easily able to connect to other Bluetooth speakers I own, including another JBL branded speaker. The speaker uses the JBL PartyBox app that offers comprehensive speaker control. Although it is available for both Android and Apple devices, I only evaluated the app with my Apple device. The PartyBox 120 includes additional EQ control. The EQ options include Movie, Vocal, Chill, Signature, and Custom. The custom EQ provides a 5-band graphic EQ. The ability to adjust the EQ profile allowed me to create personalized sound depending on whether I was indoors or outdoors. The midrange and treble sound in the PartyBox 120 offers more detail at the higher frequencies. The vocals are distinct, and the bass is deeper and more powerful. The PartyBox 120 can get impressively loud and can create a true party atmosphere. We recently had a party on my large patio and the speaker performed admirably. I had it tucked out of the way and had several of my friends wondering where the great sound was coming from! The PartyBox 120 performs very well at maximum volume and provides more clarity at these high-volume levels without distortion. The JBL PartyBox 120 provides a battery life of up to 12 hours of playtime, depending on the volume level and features used. The 120 can recharge in about 3.5 hours. I have not had the opportunity to determine the max life of the battery. In conclusion, the PartyBox 120 is a solid speaker. With its powerful JBL Pro Sound and a lightshow that syncs to the beat of the music, it will live up to its name.
