Purchased 3 pr several years ago. 2 pr have been mated with hk3770 receivers (refurbished). These small guys punch way above their size or price group I'm still amazed, especially when my old rock is enjoyed at proper volume. I actually have multiples of the Studio 500 series, except 580s. They all look great and sound great. Seems my group of friends agree with me picking the Studio 530 as most remarkable.

So I have still been un able to get the two link bars to work correctly. I'll call customer support next week and I hope they just need an update or something simple

These are, by far, the most incredible speakers ever. After a lot of research and a price of $239.00 on the JBL website, these might just be the best purchase ever! The sound quality is incredible! Buy them!!! They will not disappoint!

Got my Studio 530's a couple of months ago. Out of the box I thought they were just ok and a good sounding speaker for the sale price. Initially, trebles were nice - clear and non abrasive. The upper mids were very good also but the lower mids and bass response was lacking impact and just not keeping up with the upper frequencies. I liked the overall sound enough to want to keep them and give them a good chance to break in thoroughly. Well the break-in turned very fortuitous ( and I moved them up from a 60 watt RMS to 100 watts of power - Yamaha S-801, after reading many reviewers stating these speakers love high levels of power.) Yes, they do love the power and I personally think the extra juice gets them broken in properly by giving the crossover some real current and kicking the stiff woofer into gear and moving. I estimate they've now gotten 150 - 200 hours on them with a full 100 hours being pushed pretty hard with the 100 watt amp. The sound now is what I hoped it could become. The highs are beautiful, transparent and adequately sibilant to properly convey a cymbal hit (and decay) without a bit of harshness or being fatiguing. The upper mids are clear and slightly forward which puts female vocals and acoustic instruments at those frequencies right up front as well. The missing lower mids have now come out to play and the bass just keeps expanding with use at volume. I've never been a fan of 5.25 size drivers or rear ported bass. They usually just sound like wannabees to my ears when used for low frequency reproduction. But these really sound very good in the lower end now. Mids in general are very good with nice tonality and frankly just a bit behind the glorious upper end but not lacking. Bass is good and tight and doesn't reveal itself fully without 100 watts (and reserve current). Bassheads will want a sub no doubt and mine sound good when I use one but in a small room with deep corners I just put these close to the corners and the bass is plenty good enough sooooo I forego the sub and don't miss it at all. I did try/do something that really helped the frequency balance to my ears - very subjective factor IMO -- Mine came with the foam plugs for plugging the rear ports if desired/ needed. I took those and partially blocked (just the the lower half of) the tweeter in the horn. This damps out some of the horn effect and cuts the treble volume down a bit (with no effect on treble quality IMO) and did a much nicer clean-up than just lowering the treble control actually did and lets the mids and bass come much closer to true tonal balance. This little hack did a lot for these speakers tonal output. Try it and if you don't like the result pull them off and no harm/ no foul. Bottom Line: In a small or smallish room (like mine) these are the best value in loud and I mean LOUD!! Speakers I've heard in decades. Bang for the Buck?? Boom! Feed them some power- if you don't have a real 100 watts or more to feed these - GET IT! These little beauties will make it worth the cost and effort and your ears will thank you every time you turn it on. I've owned some crazy systems and these speakers - with sufficient power -- deliver Hi-Fi sound for an insanely low cost. The 530's are GREAT!! I love these speakers. - - - - Break 'em in and enjoy!!

Ive been a JBL guy since I was a kid. I still have JBL D103 ,075 tweeters and N 2400 crossovers that sound as good as they did when i bought them in the early 70s. Ive had many JBL products over the years and was always delighted. I still now have a set of JBL Decades that perform fantastically I saw a few revies on the 530s on You tube and was impressed with what I saw.]Z reviews actually said they were the best sounding speakers he ever heard. That pushed me to try a pair. I was so excited waiting for them to arrive. Once delivered, one corner was dented in so it started negatively. I was not impressed with the sound comparing them to my present speaker systems. They can take some ower from the amp and deliver but something is missing in the sound quality. The mids are hollow and the bass is gone. I got them to sound much better when I added a sub. Nice speakers but defiently no the best ive heard.....sorry ZZ reviews.

530's at sale price are an absolute steal. These boxes rock. Currently driving them with an early 90's Onkyo 60w... they are clear & spacious all while generating serious bottom-end. Get these while you can!! They are performers well above their price-point.

I've had these speakers for approximately two weeks. I'm not at audiophile levels of expectations, but I do appreciate higher quality sound. The only downside of this speaker is that the box is larger than most would probably be comfortable with. My wife wasn't happy to see the physical dimensions and commented on it. However in the larger room that we have these do a much better job of filling in the high to mid level sound. I also understand what a lot of other reviewers are talking about when they say that these speakers produce sound as if you're listening to the performance, not a set of speakers playing the performance. It's a subtle difference but once you've got your system calibrated correctly it's certainly there.

I bought these on sale for $240 and I honestly don't think there is a better deal in audio at that price. If someone from JBL emailed me tomorrow and said I had to pay them another $200 to keep them I honestly don't think I could part with them. The imaging, detail, and immersion of these speakers is unmatched under $1000 and has me going through all my favorite songs again and again. These are definitely a bit power hungry and I would recommend at least 80W per channel to make these sound their best. The build is solid and while in my opinion, the woofers and their surrounds are ugly as sin, with the mesh cover these speakers really are quite pretty. A definite buy even if you can't get them at the full sale price.

Arrived damaged. Have to send back for replacement. Ordered 590 also came damaged. Now I have to send back and wait for a return. Terrible quality control. My first time buying from JBL. Wasn?t a great experience.

One of the best bookshelf speakers I've heard in a long time, with great horn tweeters, you can't go wrong with these two speakers.

These are extremely good speakers. I have used many, many speakers. These are superb. A very good value and accurate sound with a little special sauce thrown in that elevates these above their price class. Highly recommended.

Very pleased with my new JBL Studio 530 speakers. Still experimenting with placement and tuning with my subwoofer, but the 530s have what I would call, a nice impact. Nice sparkly highs and tight mid-bass that really gives you that chest hit if you turn up the volume. Not fatiguing at all when listening for long stretches, and they also sound strong at lower volume levels where I mainly listen. Great soundstage too, with sounds seemingly emitting wider and deeper than the speakers are placed. The looks are unique and classic JBL.

Excellent, balanced, detailed sound. I am giving the Studio 530 speakers 5 stars even though they take a bit more power to push than what I would have liked. I am a happy camper.

Bought these JBL`s at a fantastic sale price and I am very satisfied with them. I now have the option of listening to the major differences in my different brand horn speakers using the same electronics and I have to say it is a blast. Love these JBL`s!

I am using these for a surround sound system. The voices are very legible, and the sound is dynamic. They also sound great with music!

What a smooth sounding speaker. I've been listening for about 3 to 4 hours a day to let them break in and I can't be happier. The sound is detailed with perfect center imaging and airy instrument separation. Well wort the 599 retail price but at 230 they have no rival.

Very Dynamic
By John1492
I’ve owned lots of speakers over the last 45 years, including lots of JBLs. The Studio 530s are among the best. My current collection includes Studio 180s, S26s and L830s. The Studio 530s replaced my KEF Q300s. These are all very good speakers. The Studio 530s have the lowest efficiency of any of my speakers, but seem like the most dynamic. The instruments seem to jump out, not because of a forward midrange, but because the dynamic range is so effortless. As good as the KEFs are, and they are...

They ended my extensive search for speakers
By Dave P.
I am not an audiophile, but I am picky about what my music should sound like. I won't talk about long listening sessions and break in and other non-sense because there is plenty of material on YouTube. I will focus on my particular setup because it is unusual. All decent speakers, including these ones, have requirements in order to sound good: this many inches away from the wall, this far apart, toed in this much ... I did not want to reconfigure my living room space in order to have quality ...
