Not what I was expecting!

Huge disappointment from JBL! I was looking for an upgrade from my Jamo S-809s but couldn't afford the Klipsch speakers that I wanted. I visited several home audio oriented forums to get input and all the "audiophiles" raved about these Studio 570s. So after some careful consideration I found these on sale at a price I simply could not turn down. A price so good that I bought 2 pairs! However that's where the excitement ends. I'm not sure what audiophiles consider bass to be but even after making it perfectly clear to all that I talked to about what I wanted from my front main speakers, these were about as far from it as it gets! Were those clowns messing with me? If so that's very wrong because had I paid anywhere near full retail price for these speakers, I likely would have gone hunting for them! Bass? What bass? None, zero, zip, nadda! My Jamos had better bass and I was shopping for an UPGRADE! I will say they have impressive highs but I'm not a raging tweeter head. In fact, too much tweeter actually physically hurts my ears if it's loud enough. I doubt these could do that but the highs are crisp and clean but with the total lack of anything that even resembles bass, they had to go! And do you think that even at the incredible sale price I got these at that I could at least recover my money? Huh, not a chance! I just about had to give them away to get rid of them because I was tired of looking at them. They are quite an eyesore and that was my first impression of them out of the box. That horn design for the impressive tweeters is just ugly. They look like something alien. I was once very impressed by almost everything JBL put out but unfortunately, these have changed that impression in a big way. I have been able to resell all of my other speakers when I do my upgrades at pretty good prices, at least enough to cover more than half the cost of the upgrade. 2 pairs of these couldn't even manage 1/3 of what it cost me to replace them and wouldn't have even paid for ONE of the Jamo S-809s that these were suppose to be an upgrade for. This entire experience left a very bad taste. The Polk M-XT70s that I grabbed to get by until I could get my Klipsch towers are better than these!

Small room wonder!

If and when the 570's become available, especially when they are heavily discounted, they will be a very satisfying purchase for any small to medium size room. I have them paired with a sub but find myself leaving it off often. I have them in my 12x12 man cave and made some sand filled and spiked 8.5" risers that put the compression "wave guide" tweeters at my sitting ear height. I use them for music and an amazingly good 2.1 set-up for home theatre. I've installed many systems over the years for family, friends and a few paying customers. Some high end but mostly mid-fi stuff and find this Yamaha/JBL combo not lacking in any way. The center image it throws up negates the need for a center speaker and the way they throw the soundstage around honestly at times makes me feel like I have surrounds mounted on the side walls. Very impressive! I also have the 590's in my large great room system with the 520c doing center duties but since I'm retired and and my wife is not, I am in the man cave late at night watching and listening. There are several other speakers that make the rotation on the inboard stands but the 570's are the non-moving reference.

The greatest mini towers

I've had these speakers for 6months and they've been broken in nicely. The sound is just incredible. Before the break in period they sounded stiff anorexic no bass flat high end. I've ran them non stop for the entire time. These miniature floor standers have bloomed in every respect. Bass is full tight, room filling. The other day I had turned my subs off and I forgot to turn them back on. It took a few days until I realized that they weren't on. And with subwoofers there's no limit to the dynamics I'm getting with these things. I'm driving them with the BGW C-440 475 watt rms. professional amplifier. A Monolith HTP-1 processor is driving the train.

Very pleased with the sound

I read that these were good sounding speakers but when I got them hooked up and playing it was better than I expected. I read they get better as they get used so I guess I'll enjoy listening to see if they are right.

Wasn't expecting so much

My first impression are fantastic, I don't have my setup finished yet but using old equipment made me wonder what it will sound like when I get the rest of my set up

Great high but lacks midbass

I read all the great reviews and when it was finally on sale I had to buy them. Vocals in music and movies were great, it was clear and detailed. Music genre similar to Adele and Nora Jones were excellent but if you listen to hip hop, electronic, or dance you will be disappointed. The sound was not balanced it emphasis more on the highs. As a result I got some ear fatigue.

Just as good as I hoped

My complaint, as stated in the previous request for review, was the number of phone attendant levels I was transferred to (supposedly up stream) within the "technical department" to get correct approval of driving the 570s with my Carver or McIntosh amplifier, both of which were designed for 8ohm speakers. Since the 570s are 6ohm speakers I wanted to know if the lower impedance was going to overheat my amplifier or be cause for any particular caution or protection. The upper most JBL employee (3 transfers up) to answer this technical concern looked up the model and specs of the Carver amp (60) watts continuous - RMS/ channel) and still seemed unsure of how to answer my question. I told him that I have the JBL center channel (dual 5")speaker operating on the same amplifier without any audible problem or problem lights lighting up. At that point he himself was assured enough to say that if the center channel speaker is working OK, then the 570s should be safe on the rear channel. Duh! I don't drive them hard, but I still have the same question - 6ohms v 8ohms? What is my amplifier's view and compatibility when looking into a 6 ohm speaker when the other (front) channels are 8ohm? When did JBL shift to 6ohm and why?

Jbl 570s!!

These are amazing towers! Perfect for my one bedroom apartment. I do wish they stood a bit taller but honestly the sound, bass and soundstage is amazing! Ive owned the Stage A170s and A190s. The Studio 570s blow those away tho I did enjoy the A170s. JBL is bar none my favorite speakers for music and home theater, I highly recommend for smaller rooms, the bigger the room the bigger driver you should go.

Great sounding speakers!

I use these back of an acoustically transparent projection screen. The design of the 570 speaker is excellent. These speakers and many others were designed by Mr Greg Timbers who was a designer/engineer working at JBL for many, many years. Another incredibly idiotic corporate decisions when JBL unceremoniously discharged him!

Insanely great speakers!

I mean what can you say about these speakers. I was not quite prepared for just how great they are . The compression driver is just special. The clarity from that tweeter is amazing. Excellent dynamics.

Great speakers for movies!

I bought a pair of this speaker to replace my small front speakers. And what a difference! The sound is clearer and richer and movie nights are never the same. On top of that, I grabbed them when they were on sale so it's all win-win for me

Tiny speaker big sound

Purchased to go with 3 590 towers as side surrounds they looked ridiculously small side by side but after placing them on boxes to match the 590s height you couldn't tell the difference in sound.the low end hits just as hard in my room as the giant towers

Baby floor-standers

Outstanding baby floor standers. I?ve always been a jbl fan and now own these 570s, the 530s, the 520c, and the arena 130s with various crown xls amps. The 570s are fun speakers with just enough bump and detailed, non-fatiguing highs. The dual 5.25?drivers have heavy motor structures mounted in well built cabinets that have a polarizing waterfall- Batman looking style. I enjoy the look, especially the sound and plan on owning these a long time. When on sale, just get them.

I prefer over Elac Uni fi 52 2.0

I bought these on sale ($399 pair after trying over a dozen different speakers. These were over all the best as long as you match with the right equipment. I don't know if you can do better for the money unless you are doing DIY speakers. Bass... impressive for the size Mids... are very coherent and non fatiguing. If I'm going to nit pick.. their is frequency that sticks out just a bit in the upper mids that isn't favorable. I use am able to resolve it with a 15 band eq or using a warmer sounding pre. Highs... the highs are very coherent. Very clear and despite being horn designed they aren't fatiguing. For $1k - I would continue to look For under $500 - good luck buying a production speaker that sounds better. I'm a fan!!

They sound great!

I have them setup in my living room which measures about 15ft x 20ft x 8ft. I was concerned they wouldn't be enough speaker for the room. I am happy to say they fill the room just fine for my needs. They are powered via an SMSL DA-8s running Apple Music over Bluetooth.

Great Design

My center speaker is the JBL Stage with 570s on the sides. Nice balanced sound stage. At 60% off they were a great deal. The 5" drivers are ideal for accurate sound production.

As good as it gets!

I had the studio 530's before, but did not really set them up properly. This time, I was prepared. I was able to purchase two 8" stands before they arrived. I wanted to use them in my bedroom, and this height was perfect. Also, I did not understand the purpose of the top horn cover. This time, I did everything properly, and was definitely rewarded with a great sound experience. As some reviewers have said, the speakers just disappear, and you just get a wall of music. You really can't go wrong with these for music and movies. No sub needed in the bedroom. These are driven by a Marantz MM7025 amp. The stands/platforms were under $7.00 each.

Perfect for filling medium to large rooms

Great sound, epic tonality. What else would you expect from a professional commercial speaker company that uses technology to master sound reproduction for symphony venues. Fantastic value, warranty and returns if your not satisfied after 30 days, return them tho you defiantly wont be.

Great Sound, very Clean

Just got them, anxious to hook up and try out, First they are heavy, which is a good sign, even though 5 1/2" woofers still puts out a nice bass resonance. The styling is sexy, tapered side , the tweeter horn design. I'm a lifelong JBL fan, since my first pair of L100 in 1976, best speakers ever!

Great product for the price

I had have studio 230 before and I love it. Unfortunately I move to different continent I couldn't bring them with me. Then I recently get these beauties on amazing sale. I am not audiophile and I cant give you much detail and comparison except that I use Marantz pm6005 to power it. You have to keep it in mind that this speaker have two 5-1/14" (130mm) woofer, it not give you much powerful bass as 6.5" (165mm). I thought there wouldn't be much difference but I was wrong. You need to pair it with sub-woofer and you will be fine. The height is great for my place. You have to be very careful when you remove the front grill, it have very firm connection to the the body. I would love to have choose to take it in walnut, but by some reason JBL-USA don't sell it in different color like overseas. The delivery was excellent. It will be nice if you have at least 2 foot speaker cable in the box. I definitely recommend it.

Excellent speakers for a small/medium size room ~ 12' X 15'. Don't let the smaller woofers fool you! Plenty of smooth and tuneful bass.

A perfect center channel for my setup!

I have JBL Studio 5 series as my surround sound setup and I love it. The fronts are 580s and the rears are 530s. I did have the 520c for a center but honestly it just did not sound as good as the the rest. When not listening to music, the center channel IS the most important and active speaker. So it has to be perfect in my opinion. This did the trick!

Small and balance looking

I know this 5 series for a long time. But I donot know why this 570 has not in stock for a very long time. The smaller size of 570 and slim looking are in fact very useful for those thinking speakers from the perspective of furniture. I certainly want to have the best audio quality to go with my 65 inch TV, but the problem is that most floor standing speakers are so big and look substantial to change the whole feeling of a room. 570 is small enough to stand next to a TV while does not look too much as a serious piece. Audio quality is very good for its price, and I think 5 seires has already established its reputation. I am pretty satisfied with its sound quality for movies and TV.(with a subwoofer. I have my dedicated dynaudio speakers for pure music, but they cost ten times more than 570. Again, if you have ever searched for a small floor standing speakers lower than 36 inch, this is a very good choice.
