Poor battery longevity
I have had the jbl extreme for 2 years. Good sound and physical durability, but then the speaker would not work unless plugged into the charger.
Had to order a new (different) battery and install it myself. This process was not too easy (need to utilize YouTube tutorials). This is evidently a common issue with this speaker.

LOving my JBL
I bought this item because my son had it and I used it few times, I loved it then I was worried if he goes back to Uni I will be lost without it. I bought my own and take it everywhere, the handle belt is like a handbag with the sound quality is fantastic.

Great for pounding techno
Bought the JBL Xtreme, despite it being the early model at a reduced price I am more than happy with it. I got it for a works speaker as I'm a decorator and I can gladly say it honks it out, techno, jungle, etc. I can't say my customers are too enamoured about it though!!

Very good for the very connect, and an awesome speaker in general will buy again and the 4 payments is a great and pleasing experience for wanting some and making payments using there program!

Superb sound, fills the room
Very happy with my purchase of the REFURBISHED JBL Extreme, I always buy refurbished electronics and have never been disappointed, I have a JBL sound bar also and best sound feels like your in a theatre great bass

Bass distortion
JBL Xtreme Gen1. The first music I always play to test out a speaker is classical music. I am looking for bass distortion. That choppy broken speaker sound when the frequency hits too low for the speaker to handle. It even happens under low volume. Sure enough, I played Halindir Kindreams and within the second song the bass distortion was instant and unbearable to listen. I can't believe this hasn't been noted by other reviewers. Returned for a refund.

Disappointed
When you get it right out the gate it will not work with your Charge 3 or any newer speaker due to no connect + update for it.
Dont waste your money on this it should be discontinued.

JBL Xtreme loud but $$
I needed something loud that didn't cost a fortune. It is loud but the price was still high and the X II almost twice as much and no louder. The blutooth works well and It has good sound quality at high volume so if you don't mind the price you should by happy with the Xtreme.
I have only owned for a few weeks so we will see............

I bought this two months ago, and Im very satisfied with the build and sound quality. At first I was inclined towards the Xtreme 2, but the for me, the newer Xtreme 2 features did not compensate the huge price difference...

Sounds great but not as loud as I had hoped.
I bought the Xtreme with hopes of being able to hear it well enough in the parking lot during our football tailgates. While it's a good sounding unit, with decent bass, it did not live up to expectations. Had to return it.
I've also read that if you are running it off the internal battery, as opposed to plugging it into an electrical outlet, the power output is reduced to extend the battery life. Whats the point of that? And there is no way to override that setting? What if I choose to have the higher output at the expense of battery life (I don't really need 15 hours, 4 would do!); there is no setting to change this. There are no electrical outlets available, and I'd rather not mess with converters and wires to plug this into my car's cigarette lighter/alt power outlet.
The next larger speaker is the Boombox, and is almost 2.5X the cost. I'll have to look elsewhere.

Looks cool. Great design. AMAZING SOUND. Not Too Loud. Battery Kinda Sucks. I do not know how they claim 15 hours. I get 3-4 hours outdoors with full volume while charging my iPhone XR...

Great features and great sound with the help of eq
I already had a jbl charge 2 and a hk go+play and a minirig mini. I replaced my hk g+p with this speaker because of its numerous features. I got what i needed so i am absolutely satisfied. The only thing you need to do with this speaker to emphasize the midrange sounds with an equalizer since the bass is too strong in my opinion.
