While the BlackBox BBP1A Player with Lightpipe Digital I/O, Unbalanced is a potent software upgrade for the BlackBox Recorder, it offers much more than just an upgrade. This advanced player delivers automated, high-quality, multichannel audio playback (up to 24bit/96kHz) for live shows and themed entertainment, eliminating the need for a computer.
Designed to enhance 24 and 64-channel BlackBox systems, the BBP1A Player offers a unique functionality that sets it apart from standard BlackBox Recorder playback. It allows the arrangement of content for an entire show, exhibition, or broadcast into a user-friendly, editable playlist. With cues preloaded for immediate playback, the playlist can be adjusted in real time should the running order change.
The BBP1A Player supports continuous playback through its looping feature. It accepts playback material created using any workstation that generates valid WAV or BWAV files, including mono, stereo, and polywav files. Audio is conveniently stored on an external USB 2.0 hard drive or USB 2.0 Flash drive.
The BBP1A Player employs a straightforward file naming procedure to ensure sample accurate synchronous playback of each audio file through its respective output. The show set list is configured as a simple XML format playlist, with each song automatically pre-loading. Manual changes can also be made, and multiple playlists can be stored for different shows or performances.
This versatile player can be operated and controlled via footswitch, QWERTY keyboard, timecode, MIDI commands, or JoeCoRemote for iPad. Each channel can be separately balanced, EQd, and processed alongside other live audio to compensate for venue acoustics or audience-generated noise during performances.
The BBP1A Player also supports the creation of foldback mixes incorporating Player audio, and an additional mix can be sent via the Player's headphone output. To synchronize audio with visual media, the Player can be configured to start in sync with incoming timecode and audio clock, supporting all standard timecode frame rates.
Like all BlackBox systems, the BBP1A Player is equipped with a number of built-in safety features. For instance, a pair of Balanced Players can be configured for automated fail-over, ensuring the show continues without interruption.
The BlackBox BBP1A Player system includes full BlackBox Recorder functionality. A simple menu selection transforms the system into either a Recorder or a Player as needed. Player software is also available as a separate upgrade for existing BlackBox Recorder owners.
This player is designed for use with mixing consoles that support Lightpipe (TOSLINK). Unbalanced analogue I/O functionality is also available for situations where the Lightpipe interface is not suitable, making the BlackBox BBP1A Player a versatile and reliable choice for all your audio playback needs.
