While harnessing the power of JoeCo's acclaimed BlackBox Recorder technology, the BlackBox BBR1MP Recorder emerges as a standalone, live, multi-channel audio acquisition solution, meticulously crafted with the needs of broadcast engineers and location sound recordists in mind. This 24-channel recorder not only encompasses all the standard BlackBox features but also boasts 24 top-tier microphone preamps, capable of operating at an impressive 24bit/96kHz. These are seamlessly integrated into the recorder's compact 1U housing, making it a space-efficient choice for professionals.
The BBR1MP is equipped with a diverse range of connection options, including individually switchable mic/line inputs and balanced outputs, video sync, timecode, and word clock inputs. The unit offers the flexibility of user-installable Dante and MADI interface cards, which can add an additional 24 channels of Dante or MADI I/O to the BBR1MP unit. Microphones can be connected to the unit via tails from the rear D-Sub connectors or through an optional 2U breakout panel with XLR connectors.
This recorder is designed to record audio directly to an external USB2 drive in Broadcast WAV format, facilitating immediate ingestion into post-production. The BBR1MP's multi-channel recording capabilities are complemented by the provision for creating a simultaneous stereo mixdown, with full support for iXML data.
Designed for on-location use, the BBR1MP operates on a 12V power source, with the option to disable unused channels and features to conserve battery life. The unit offers full control via the JoeCo Remote for iPad, allowing for the adjustment of individual mic pre channel parameters such as level, mic/line, phantom power, hi-pass filter, soft limiter, and phase reverse.
The BBR1MP's compact dimensions, combined with high-quality mic preamps and converters, position it as a practical, sophisticated solution for a variety of broadcast applications. It also serves as an ideal choice for live engineers in search of a portable multi-channel recording option.
