Shopper : Can you please tell me what type/speed cd/DVD drive this has, is it a DVD writer etc.?ANDREW R : Asus describes the optical drive as "Super-Multi DVD". It should read and write DVD, DVD+/-R and CD/R CD/RW. Unfortunately speed is not specified.
Shopper : hard reive series 2 or 2 sata?? imANDREW R : Unfortunately the manufacturer does not specify.
Shopper : What kind o memory this thing take?ANDREW R : The specs indicate that this unit can use up to 8GB DDR3 PC3-10600 204-pin SODIMM (2X4GB). Any memory upgrades would need to performed by the purchaser, unfortunately we do not offer custom configurations at this time.

Sturdy laptop with good features

This is a well built laptop with a good combination of processor performance and memory capacity. You will however need to be aware that this laptop comes with a partitioned hard drive. It has a "C" and "D" drive. You should keed your programs on the "C" drive and store all your data, music, photos etc on the "D" drive. This is our second ASUS laptop and I would give this a recommend rating.
