Under the umbrella of innovative and high-quality audio equipment, the THAT-2 Telephone Handset Audio Tap stands out as a versatile and user-friendly solution for connecting your telephone to your audio devices. This compact, durable device is designed to bridge the gap between your telephone and your audio equipment, offering quick and easy access to audio in and out of your telephone system.
The THAT-2 is a popular choice among radio stations for recording and playing sound bytes, and is also widely used by TV and film sound crews to facilitate IFB dialog over phone lines. This passive handset interface is equipped with both professional and consumer jacks, and features separate input and output volume controls for optimal audio management.
One of the key features of the THAT-2 is its selector switch, designed to accommodate different types of telephone systems. This feature, combined with its plug-and-play functionality, means that the THAT-2 requires no batteries or AC power. Simply unplug the handset coily cord from the base of your telephone, plug it directly into the THAT-2, and then connect the THAT-2 back to the telephone using the supplied cable.
The THAT-2 is compatible with a wide range of audio equipment, and can be connected to your powered speaker via the RCA or XLR jacks. The gray pushbutton allows you to select which audio will be sent into the telephone, whether you're talking on the handset (OUT) or sending audio in through the RCA jack (IN).
The output jacks provide a balanced mix of the audio from both sides of the conversation, as well as the tones being pressed on the keypad. The THAT-2 also features a three-position switch to accommodate electret, dynamic, and carbon telephone handset microphone types, and can emulate the type of microphone in the handset to send audio into various types of analog and digital PBX sets, as well as ISDN telephones.
Please note that the THAT-2 is not compatible with cordless or cell phones, or any telephone with a keypad in the handset.
