I picked up the JTL kit hoping that it would provide enough power to light a white backdrop for a local shoot, but was disappointed. The kit is nice and small, which is a plus if you have to transport it to a shoot location, and the bulbs can run for quite a while without generating too much heat. That was about all this kit has going for it. The reflectors don't leave enough space around the large bulbs to be effective, narrowing the beam but with too little power to use as a spot light. The reflectors are not threaded, so they slide around on the holders too much and are prone to coming loose. The light holders themselves just feel cheap and flimsy. I will likely send these back and swap them for something with a wider dispersion angle. The JTL's could be used as fill lights for an interview subject if you had them really close to the subject, but that's about it.

Just what we needed, and worked out of the box. We do do alot of shipping our gear around so the size of the bulbs was bigger then I thought, but still reasonable. They will be very useful.

JTL compact fluorescent lighting provides the necessary supplemental light source to help ensure the most accurate results. Using JTL compact fluorescent lights make studio photography and video simple, and easy. JTL compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) are ideal for indoor studios such as, digital portrait, commercial photography/ video, or TV interviews. CFLs are not designed for outdoor use.
The color-rendering index (CRI) is a quantitative measure of the ability of a light source to reproduce the colors of various objects faithfully in comparison with natural light source. Light sources with a high CRI are desirable in color-critical applications such as photography and cinematography. The CRI measurement of JTL CFLs is no less than 90 that, which is the required measurement for photography and cinematography usage.
