Questions & Answers

Shopper : can this camera feed live video to a PC?JOHN H : Yes it does.JOHN L : I haven't done this before nor have I needed to. I would be interested, however, in finding out if a situation like this might come about in the future. Sorry.LINCOLN R : I've done it before. You just need a capture device or dongle to get the feed into your computer.
Lee W : We have Mac G-5 computers with firewire ports. How do you ingest video easily with no firewire port? Is there an adapter?DOUG B : Hi Lee! I had this problem with my Mac G5 as well, even worse as my G5 is not an Intel Mac. I ended up getting a Macbook Pro laptop (most of the stuff I shoot is in the field with the customer and they usually want files on location) and it has a SD card slot which makes things easy. My wife's G5 IS an Intel Mac and by using a regular SD card reader, I was able to see the files and import them with no problem (for those personal projects). So, if you have an non-Intel G5, not much you can do. You might find some 3rd party apps that can help read files, but I had extremely limited luck with that. If you have a G5 Intel Mac, simple SD card reader works fine. I have never tried using any cable adapters (camera has component and a/v outputs). You can feed video into a converter (ie: Canopus) from these ports, but you wouldn't be able to control the camera. Hope this helps you out. It's a great camera and I am very happy with it! DougGREGORY M : We simply use a SDHC card reader and plug into our USB port. A good reader can be purchased for about $15. AND since the camera records in quicktime, there is almost no process time.ANDREW R : This particular model camera has USB 2.0 (mini-b), but not Firewire. Most Macs (including a most older G5 units) are equipped with USB 2.0.
maung m : i want to buy this item .but i dont know prise?ANDREW R : Adding this item to your shopping cart will give you the current price on this item. You may then remove it from your cart should you not wish to purchase it.

Not what I expected

Well, I am a Preacher that record my self Sermon for my Churches across the Globe. I always need a camcorder that will deliver some clear and crisp videos. Many times I have to do it in Low light conditions and when I saw that this is 3CCD it drew me towards it But as other did mention that the size of the CCD is smaller 1/4" which is terrible in lowlight. Also the camera's ergonomic need a lot of improvement. Hand held is a pain as it is completely out of balance. I mean you cant hold it for a period of time and not complaint about the stress on your hand. My opinion is that if I am spending 2K I will put a little bit more and get the panasonic AG AC 130A and will be happy for the rest of my life of Video Photography.

The GY-HM150U Compact Handheld 3-CCD Camcorder from JVC is an ultra-compact professional HD camcorder that records 35 Mb/s Long-GOP MPEG-2 to SDHC/SDxC cards. Offering an integrated 10x Fujinon zoom lens and three progressive CCD imagers, the camcorder debuts a Dynamic Digital Signal Processor from JVC that processes the full 1920 x 1080 signal, regardless of recording mode. Despite its tiny size, the HM150U slides right into most professional workflows in ways that far surpass the flexibility of AVCHD-recording models.

The camera records 35 Mb/s 1080i video natively as QuickTime files for effortless integration with Final Cut Pro, or it can be saved in MP4 format for compatibility with XDCAM Ex workflows. And building on the success of its predecessor, the HM100U, the HM150U adds a proprietary Rotary Optical Image Stabilizer (ROIS), pre-rec & time-lapse recording and standard-definition recording, for compatibility with SD workflows that require fast turnaround times.

The HM150U also features wider options for recording to its two SDHC/SDxC card slots: You can set it record either sequentially or simultaneously to both cards, for instant backups. With dual 64GB SDxC cards installed, you can record full HD video for hours without changing out media. This endurance, coupled with its small size and removable handle, make the HM150U a strong choice for capturing fully professional video under adverse conditions that might require surreptitious operation.
