Questions & Answers

DEEPAK K : Does the adapter provide focus confirmation indicator for manual Zeiss ZE lenses?MICHAEL D : If the lens is a true manual focus unit and the camera doesn't require electronic connection between the lens to confirm focus, then the answer is yes.DAVID R : Focus confirmation is a feature of the camera body. You did not specify your brand of camera.Timothy P : No it doesn't;t
MYO M : Can the Speedbooster/Baveyes version focus to infinity? Also, does it have a micro USB port? The ND filter version can't focus to infinity without the ND filters?DAVID R : Yes it has the port and yes to infinity focus.DAVID R : Yes to infinity focus and yes to USB port. Never tried the ND version, but if you remove glass from the optical path, you will affect focus. Other optics with built-in filter holders require a clear filter to be in the holder whenever there is no "effect" filter in place.
J D : If the adapter is incapable of auto focus ("Please note that after mounting the adapter only manual focus will be accessible when shooting"), is Image stabilization possible?DAVID R : Of my several IS lenses, none have IS operation on this adapter.DAVID R : My experience thus far is that IS will not activate. Perhaps your lenses will be different. Perhaps not. Perhaps a future FW update will fix it. Perhaps not. If uncertainty greatly bothers you, forget all about adapting EF lenses. Likewise if you're bothered by compromises. But if your OK with compromise and uncertainty, order two or more EF adapters, test them with YOUR lenses and bodies, and return the losers to the vendor, who is VERRRRY accustomed to seeing EF adapters being returned.

I never! write reviews! but for this I had to.

This is a beautiful piece of equipment, the ND wheel controller on top is so smooth, I love it. Love the fact that I can pop in any other filer so easily. The built feels very pro and rugged. I use it with my Zeiss Otus 1.4 55. Using the ND, it allows me to shoot wide open all the time!

Quality product works great

It is not as good as Novoflex in touch and handling, and tightness and optical quality. But it is better than Fotodiox. It material higher quality than other consumer product such as Vello or KF concept. It works fine using manual lens wonderfully. It good quality product in such low price..

Like it but not recommending it.

I like it but am not recommending it. It suffers all the famous limitations of such adapters and for most users thaz a real deal breaker. I am not "most users" and find the device to be of decent build and good optics. AF performance varies depending on choice of lens and camera body. It does NOT activate the IS in the Canon lenses that I've tried to use on it. It has - AT BEST - acceptable 'medium-slow" AF that is accurate and therefor more convenient than MF but not actually faster. At worst it has no AF. But it does double the light transmission of Canon lenses and provide the full FF FoV shrunken onto an APSC sensor. All the other electronics couple properly ... aperture, FL info, exif, etc. I don't recommend it if "recommend" means I'm saying it will "answer your prayers" in the hellish world of EF-to-Emount adapters. But I do suggest you try it out and see whether it's a keeper or not. NO ONE should EVER be reticent or feel even slightly embarrassed to return an EF-to-E adapter. All the sellers know this is a bad shoot and we should thank them for not just staying totally clear of all such merchandise.

Kinda works

I am using it with a 200mm Canon 200mm lens. So far I have found out that it hunts a lot while trying to focus. When it does focus it is okay. I usually just go to manual when it struggles. I am getting another brand to compare it to. For me right now it is just okay. I was hoping for better.

Works well except!!

Adapter works well with the Sony A6300 with a couple exceptions. It doesn't work in movie mode at all. In photo mode it autofocuses but only the middle section not the entire field. Significant vignetting on the edges using a Canon 300 2.8 II lens. Still worth it because how fast the A6300 focuses.

great adapter

For infinity issue?light go through the lens and project on the sensor?infinity is no problem?but when you put a filter between the lens and sensor?the focus point would be offset about thickness x1/3?thickness of our ND filter is 1mm?two ND filters?so would be 2mmx1/3=0.75mm? so when insert variable ND?infinity is ok?when pull out ND filters?cannot reach infinity. this is noted it in manual instruction

A Solid Performer At An Excellent Price

The Kipon Baveyes focal reducer represents an advance over its closest competitor from Metabones. There is no edge softening even wide open and it focuses to infinity without any needed adjustment. I have not tried it with non-Canon full frame lenses. There is a USB port presumably for firmware updates but the complete lack of documentation in the package prevents confirmation of this. All in all, a solid performer.
