Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?MARY E : I purchased this over a year ago to replace a smaller version of it that I had outgrown. Recently I had an opportunity to replace this one with a pelican case. I looked the case over, sighed a bit because I'd always wanted one, then stuck with the Kata. Smaller, lighter, very functional, and holds pretty much everything I need on a photography trip. Good camera bag - and it doesn't scream, "I hold $$$$ camera equipment!"CEDRIC L : I was looking for a convinient and compact way to carry my two cameras as well as all of their accessories. When I found this I was instantly impressed by just how much stuff it could neatly hold in such a small amount of space. With the added bonus of being able to carry my laptop as well as having a rain-protective covering that comes with the bag, I simply couldn't resist! The bag itself is very well designed and sturdy, and I have no regrets on making the purchase.JULIE A : Haven't used this. It is a little too big for a woman to use comfortably.

It's not that big...

I use my camera for wildlife photography, and wanted a bag for use on day trips through forests/jungles - one backpack for my kit (1 camera + 4 lens and lens caps), plus enough space for food, water, and some clothes. This is a camera backpack which is just a little too small. Starting with the lower compartment, which is is divided for lens and camera - I have a Canon 400D, which isn't a large camera, but I can't get the camera in with my 700-300mm lens attached. Even ignoring this, all my lens caps have to be detached from the lens and go in the top compartment. This top compartment is very small, and for a day out hiking you can't get a lot in there. It's a shame, because it could easily have been a lot bigger without making the bag taller or wider overall by just making it deeper at the top - this seems a waste. Getting 2 DSLRs, 3-4 lens and a flash in this backpack may be possible, but probably not with lens caps and much else, and I'm not impressed with the tripod holder.

Huge!

I had high hopes for the Kata D-467i. The bag is well built, and the color of the interior is great for finding things easily. I am 5'2" and felt that the bag was physically too big for me. For one, the sternum strap's location, while adjustable, doesn't go up high enough for me. It lands mid-chest, which is problematic for a woman. The camera compartment is spacious-- too spacious for me as I only carry a Nikon D90 with attached 18-70mm lens, a 35mm prime lens and flash. Having the laptop compartment is nice, but without functional use of the sternum strap (not padded too), I don't see carrying the added weight of a laptop. This bag would be great for taller people, and those with more gear.

Very nice bag

This is a VERY nice camera bag. After shopping for about two months, I realized that there is no such thing as the perfect bag...unless you spend several hundred dollars. I took the plunge and am glad I did. This bag will hold my 17 inch MacBook Pro with ease. It is the perfect size for a carry on, so now I can take my camera, a couple of lenses and a flash, as well as my Mac. No way am putting that stuff in a checked bag. The only issue I have is my camera (a Canon 7D) doesn't fit well with a 28-135 lens and the battery pack attached. I should have known better, the camera is a beast. But I can still get it in the compartment, it's just that the flash and other lenses have to ride in the top compartment. The only reason I didn't give the bag 5 stars, is because as I said there is no perfect bag, but for the money this one comes close. It's still the best bag I've ever owned, and I am done shopping. Good but...

This bag got real small real fast. I got it because it was affordable and it could attach to a cart. But I can't store my canon 5d mrk 2 with a 24-70mm lens on. I have to lay down my 70-200mm. Needs more compartments. There is a big space in the middle and I don't know how to utilize it with out everything falling about. Could have used some sort of take out bags or more velcro pieces to attach to it to divide and protect the space.

Very well Designed

The DR-467i is an all around bag as you can wear it as a backpack, or configure it to wear as a sling pack, whichever you prefer. It is light weight with gear. In the bottom of the bag I currently have the Nikon D90 with 18-105mm lens and lens hood (fitted with the pedals facing the camera) attached stored in a grab and shoot method in one divider, the lens bag with lens covers in another, a Fuji s7000 in another divider, a large blower (Giottos) with stem detached in a divider, and one divider left for the Nikon 70-300mm VR when I purchase it, along with all of my accessories (cleaning kit (lens solution bottle, LCD pen, Lens pen, extra batteries, chargers, USB cables, video cables, wireless remote, 12 inch (folded) tripod in upper part of bag inside, and will strap a 23" tripod to the strap outside of the bag. You can only fit one foot into the mesh pouch that pulls out from the pocket and would recommend not doing this as it is fairly cheap, overtime will tear and most importantly is not needed. Just a gimmick. No laptop to pack, yet, however I placed all of my manuals in this area. I also recommend replacing the strap included for the tripod with a quick release strap. If you have the DR-467, simply add the strap by attaching it to the grab handle at the top of the bag. Awesome bag!

The Kata DR-467i Digital Rucksack features a unique TST RIB structural protection for two D/SLR with mounted lens, 3-4 lenses, flash etc. + personal gear, laptop and small tripod. By removing the padded bottom camera insert you can easily convert this rucksack from a camera bag to a daypack when not shooting.

The main compartment holds a D/SLR in top grip position while the modular dividers system will separate, organize and protect lenses, flashes and other accessories to suit your particular needs. The middle separating divider easily zips open for full bag access. The dedicated rear padded compartment will protect a laptop or hold paperwork. The large top compartment will hold personal gear or additional equipment and the internal pockets and mp3 player pouch will allow you to organize your personal effects as efficiently as your photographic gear.

Ample external pockets allow quick zippered access to supplies and a water bottle/ tripod support pocket pulls out from a side pocket. A loop on both shoulder straps allows you to connect external pouches to carry a cell phone or mp3 player. Included rain cover folds neatly away into an integrated pocket and can be hung out to dry on the small buckle next to the handle, or tucked away for storage in one of the pockets.

When carrying, a chest belt and balancing waist strap are available for ultimate comfort and the rucksack is also compatible with the Kata Insertrolley if wheel along transportation is needed. EPH system compatibility allows you to attach either a torso pack or waist pack for additional carrying options.
