Questions & Answers

Ted B : What developer do you use for this film?JOSHUA K : I use Kodak D-76 for 6 minutes 30 seconds. Agitate for first 30 seconds and then do 4 inversions on every 30 second mark until the time is up. Fix with Kodak fixer (5 minutes). Works great!ROBERT W : D-76RANDALL R : I use HC110 right now, solution "B" and develop for 8 minutes at 68 degrees. Use Ilfotec HC instructions.DAVID M : Many different developers with different characteristics can be used. I mostly use good old D-76.DON B : SINCE IT HAS SERVED ME VERY WELL WITH OTHER FILMS, I PLAN TO USE XTOL.STEVEN D : I have always been fond of D76 diluted 1:1 for many types of film. I tried it on this film and I like it.MOHSEN Z : I use Pyrocat MC (from Photographers formulary) and do an stand development, 1:1:200 one hour for any film shot at box speed, in this case for Kentmere 100, and result is pretty good.MELISSA J : I bought it as a Christmas gift for my husband so I don't know much about it. I do know that he uses a cafinol C (sp?) process.MICHAEL M W : I used Kodak xtol. And i also used the Kodak liquid developer. but will work with any.
Shopper : Hi, I was just wondering how many rolls are in this pack? Cheers, JosieRANDALL R : I usually get about 25 rolls out of one of these bulk rolls. I roll about 30 frames into a canister to obtain roughly 24 usable frames for exposure.DAVID M : About 25 rolls of 24 exposures.MICHAEL M W : Hi Josie. I bought this 100 foot roll for a zone systems class. the thing is this is a straight 100 foot roll of film. so there for you will need a bulk film loader and and re-loadable film canister and a completely dark room to load the film in the loader. now the thing with bulk loading is you can load 10 to 36 frame at a time. so how many rolls you get varies. i did at least 30 rolls for various testing and such and i still have a lot of the film left over. hope this helpsCARLO R : There is only one roll in this box, a 100 foot roll of 35mm film. To get any use out of this item, you're going to need to buy a bulk loader as well as a few blank 35mm film cassettes. If you're asking how many rolls you would expect to get out of this, the answer is a little more complicated. It really depends on your experience with bulk loading, as well as how much you film you load onto a cassette. There are a wide variety of numbers out there, and it can be anywhere from 25-35 rolls of film total.KEITH S : This is a 100 foot long roll of film for a bulk loader. I'm predicting that I will be able to get somewhere around 40 rolls of film out of this.NATHANIEL S : Hi Josie, I can usually get about 18 36 exposure rolls out of the one package. Keep in mind this is just the film, so you'll need some film cassettes and some way to wind the film onto them. Best Regards, DaveXiangfeng L : It's 100 meter in general you can fill them into 18- 22 rolls.LUIS L : hi, by 36 exp there are 19 rolls. luis lozano
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?RODOLFO G : Affordable BW Film and Process black and white film at home.GALEN K : I have used kentmere 400 in the past and have had very good results 👍JAVI M : Highly recommend and cheaper than tri-xROBERT W : I like this bulk film emulsionNOAH M : I have had several people highly recommend the Kentmere 100 35mm film. The quality is said to be very close to that of Ilford HP5, yet this film is a fraction of the cost. I am excited to get a nice quantity of rolls out of this bulk roll and see how it shoots firsthand!JOSHUA K : I used to use Kodak Plus-X or whatever they call their black & white 100 .. but it got too expensive so I switched to Kentmere. Works great for Lomography! I'm now on my third 100-ft bulk roll.

A must Try

If you shoot a lot of B&W like I do, it is a very much film to go to. because of the price, it is very much like FP4 & FP5, closer to FP4 JMO, Very happy with it. I only give it 4 stares because it's not as good as something like Fuji across II but dam near 1/2 the price.

Great practice and study film. Forgiving as far as developing. Nice for contrast study training. Prints are more than acceptable. Great value.

Works very well for transparencies

I have been looking for a slower speed film for transparencies to project. Kentmere 100 is working out very well for that. The price is good for the high quality.

Great film

Have been using another private brand for awhile now but always had under exposure problems..always thought it was me Si ce I dont use a meter. I tried kentmere because of price and wow... My negatives came out with contrast and detail. Much more so than the previous film ive been using. So I ordered a bunch more. Only developed film ..have not printed yet but looking at the negatives, I know they come out fine

Why Pay More

I have use, Adox 20/25, Ilford Pan F 50, (T) Grains and so on, this give the same if not better quality. Except for the Adox. You can Push this to 1600 with little to no problems. Although you should try and stay in the 50 - 200 range. This photo could have used a stop bath, and purified water, but still very good. Scanned on Epson V550, 16 bit, 72 dpi, at 3072 * 2048 px, TIFF.

Excellent contrast for a B/W film

Now i will first start by saying i am old enough to have only used film growing up. I will also admit then it was just to take pictures on various SLR cameras in the Navy and over seas for years. After looking back at some of my old negatives from pictures i took for years and comparing those to this film, i can honestly say i an EXTREMELY impressed with my results with my home developing and enlargements. When i did a proper exposure on my film the pictures were clear enough to make enlargements over 24" with no loss of resolution. I've used ilford, Kodak, Ansco, Arista, and Fuji films and for the prices, you get the best bang for your buck. Does this mean the others are bad... NO! But i just really like my B/W results from this film. Very clear and very crisp!

Great but grainy

Great film and does well with every developer I've used - just a bit grainy for my taste in some of my low light shots - the shots outdoors seemed better. Perhaps less noticeable due to blown out areas.

Fantastic for the price

This is a great low priced, and high quality film. Prints very nicely in the darkroom. Fine grained, good tonal range, and yes, it comes from the UK. So you can guess who makes it!

Good in D-76 1:1

I've shot about 50 rolls of Kentmere 100 over the last few years. This film is lovely in D-76 1:1. I've also tried it at 1:3, and found it a little too grainy for me. It dries flat for easy scanning and storage. I've only made wet prints from this film once, but that one time they looked great. The more expensive 100 ISO films like Delta 100 or TMax 100 are probably technically better, but Kentmere is good enough for me and I would recommend it.

Best B&W film deal out there!

This all-purpose black and white film choice is more than adequate for any application I can think of and at a great price, to boot! Since film processing is so pricey today, it's great to find very good film at a great price from a name I can really trust -- Adorama!

Kentmere 100 is a very good value traditional slow black and white film. Grain is moderate to fine, with good detail, contrast and tonal range. I typically stand develop the film with Rodinal and get very pleasing results. Highly recommended.

Good stuff

After Kodak Tmax started getting too expensive I needed a more economically priced bulk film. This is it. Nice contrast, very smooth grain, processes with the same chemicals I am accustomed to (Kodak D76 and fixer). The film stock itself is thinner; it feels different when loading onto my developing spools. I noticed that when I first made the switch but now I'm used to it. Now on my 3rd bulk roll of Kentmere and have no plans to go back!

I like this film and I highly recommend it. Beginner, Amateur, Pro, Hobbiest. I'm going to do an experiment with it if all goes well I'll share with you guys.

Over the years, Kentmere 100 has established itself as a top choice for photographers seeking a medium-speed, black and white film that delivers exceptional results. This high-quality, professional-grade film is perfect for a wide range of applications, from pictorial and fine art photography to studio, fashion, and portrait photography.

The Kentmere 100 film is renowned for its fine grain and outstanding sharpness, making it a versatile tool in the hands of both skilled specialists and hobbyists. Thanks to its unique core-shell crystal technology, this film offers unparalleled image quality, setting a new standard for "new-technology" films.

With a speed rating of ISO 100/21½ under standard development, the Kentmere 100 film is less sensitive to changes in development, providing greater control over the process. This feature, coupled with its wide exposure latitude, allows for high-quality results over an exposure range of EI 50/18 to EI 200/24.

The emulsion of Kentmere 100 film enables levels of enlargement previously unattainable without loss of fine detail. Its wide tonal range and superior exposure latitude ensure that captured images can be easily reproduced on modern black-and-white papers, eliminating the need for extreme print manipulation.

Compatible with all major processing systems and capable of being processed in all popular developers, the Kentmere 100 film is not just an ISO 100/21½ film. It's a testament to the brand's commitment to providing affordable, durable, and high-quality products that empower photographers to express their vision with crystal clarity.
