Questions & Answers

VICTOR E : ?How is this for landscape photographyPAIGE E : It is not bad. For the price it's definitely a good deal, it's not ilford but it works. I would recommend shooting with it and getting a feel for it for sure and having a backup in case you aren't pleased. Definitely worth buying though.JOEL F : Sorry, but we have not used it for landscape photography, so cannot give an opinion. Is great for urban design, portraits.DAVID W : That is a very subjective question... I have used it for architectural and scenic shots and really like the tonality and detail. It isn't as fine grained as some other 100 ISO black & white films, but the grain structure is smooth and soft rather than granular or sharp. If you want the trees on a mountain twenty miles away perfectly resolved, this may not be the right film for you, but if you want a sense of contrast that isn't overblown and an engaging tonal palette with respectable resolution then this film is well worth trying (especially considering the price!).MARCIN D : This is a good general B&W film. Will deliver nice landscape photos if exposed/developed correctly. It's cheap and really good. Buy few rolls ant try different developers.JIM B : Sorry, but I don't think I have ever used Kentmere bw film. I would think it would be an excellent choice at ISO 100 for detailed landscape photography.
Joshua G : This film canister has DX encoded strips, right?TOM B : YesJAMES H : Unfamiliar with this filmGERALD W : I opened a box of Kentmere 400 speed B&W film, and it does have DX encoded strips, so my guess is that all Kentmere film is DX encoded.MARCIN D : Yes there is DX code on the canister.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?DEEPIT B : Wanted to tryMATT H : Reviews and economical.BRUNO V : I just want cheap 35mm film.PAUL S : It's cheap and it works. Is there larger grain than T-max, yes - but it's half the price. Dynamic range - yes, it's less, just like the price.JOSH H : trying a new film, it's cheaper than others I've usedZACARIAS V : It is a good price for B&W film. Just what I needJENNY B : Looking to try ISO 100 and great pricePAUL P : I have used this film before and it's excellent especially for the price.MARC F : slow film for low grain and outdoor daylight scenes which can be contrasty. Photographer who want to primarily shoot in sunlight- this is a good choice.JAMES J : Low costDean M : Use this film many times good results and price point.. 36 expose..Charles C : great valueShaun M : least expensive 100 isoJohn R : will try it out at this priceERVAD P : I use Kentmere more than any other film and is excellent black & white film .RACHEL S : It's a decent film for the price.Alfred M : Want to see if it is a good value.Larry B : Good reviewsDavid K : I think I like this better than Tmax 100. about the same as FP4 plusTHOMAS J : Price was rightSAU WAN L : Great deal for the price!

A must Try

If you shoot a lot of B&W like I do, it is a very much film to go to. because of the price, it is very much like FP4 & FP5, closer to FP4 JMO, Very happy with it. I only give it 4 stares because it's not as good as something like Fuji across II but dam near 1/2 the price.

Excellent film for the $

Great practice and study film. Forgiving as far as developing. Nice for contrast study training. Prints are more than acceptable. Great value.

Works very well for transparencies

I have been looking for a slower speed film for transparencies to project. Kentmere 100 is working out very well for that. The price is good for the high quality.

Great film

Have been using another private brand for awhile now but always had under exposure problems..always thought it was me Si ce I dont use a meter. I tried kentmere because of price and wow... My negatives came out with contrast and detail. Much more so than the previous film ive been using. So I ordered a bunch more. Only developed film ..have not printed yet but looking at the negatives, I know they come out fine

Why Pay More

I have use, Adox 20/25, Ilford Pan F 50, (T) Grains and so on, this give the same if not better quality. Except for the Adox. You can Push this to 1600 with little to no problems. Although you should try and stay in the 50 - 200 range. This photo could have used a stop bath, and purified water, but still very good. Scanned on Epson V550, 16 bit, 72 dpi, at 3072 * 2048 px, TIFF.

Excellent contrast for a B/W film

Now i will first start by saying i am old enough to have only used film growing up. I will also admit then it was just to take pictures on various SLR cameras in the Navy and over seas for years. After looking back at some of my old negatives from pictures i took for years and comparing those to this film, i can honestly say i an EXTREMELY impressed with my results with my home developing and enlargements. When i did a proper exposure on my film the pictures were clear enough to make enlargements over 24" with no loss of resolution. I've used ilford, Kodak, Ansco, Arista, and Fuji films and for the prices, you get the best bang for your buck. Does this mean the others are bad... NO! But i just really like my B/W results from this film. Very clear and very crisp!

Great but grainy

Great film and does well with every developer I've used - just a bit grainy for my taste in some of my low light shots - the shots outdoors seemed better. Perhaps less noticeable due to blown out areas.

Very good quality for the price

This is one of my favorite films, despite the bargain price. I like developing semi-stand in HC-110 - beautiful edge effects and no blown highlights!

Fantastic for the price

This is a great low priced, and high quality film. Prints very nicely in the darkroom. Fine grained, good tonal range, and yes, it comes from the UK. So you can guess who makes it!

Good in D-76 1:1

I've shot about 50 rolls of Kentmere 100 over the last few years. This film is lovely in D-76 1:1. I've also tried it at 1:3, and found it a little too grainy for me. It dries flat for easy scanning and storage. I've only made wet prints from this film once, but that one time they looked great. The more expensive 100 ISO films like Delta 100 or TMax 100 are probably technically better, but Kentmere is good enough for me and I would recommend it.

Best B&W film deal out there!

This all-purpose black and white film choice is more than adequate for any application I can think of and at a great price, to boot! Since film processing is so pricey today, it's great to find very good film at a great price from a name I can really trust -- Adorama!

Excellent film

Kentmere 100 is a very good value traditional slow black and white film. Grain is moderate to fine, with good detail, contrast and tonal range. I typically stand develop the film with Rodinal and get very pleasing results. Highly recommended.

Good stuff

After Kodak Tmax started getting too expensive I needed a more economically priced bulk film. This is it. Nice contrast, very smooth grain, processes with the same chemicals I am accustomed to (Kodak D76 and fixer). The film stock itself is thinner; it feels different when loading onto my developing spools. I noticed that when I first made the switch but now I'm used to it. Now on my 3rd bulk roll of Kentmere and have no plans to go back!

Lets just say I buy this film more that I do "K*d**" quality is amazing and grain is so fine, try a roll. I also consider this film personally to be a bit forgiving. I like this film and I highly recommend it. Beginner, Amateur, Pro, Hobbiest. I'm going to do an experiment with it if all goes well I'll share with you guys.
