With the introduction of the Kinefinity Active E Mount Adapter, photographers and videographers using MAVO Edge 8K, MAVO Edge 6K, and MAVO mark2 cameras can now seamlessly integrate Sony E mount lenses into their workflow. This advanced adapter supports electronic control, significantly expanding the range of compatible lens options and enhancing the overall shooting experience.
Unlike the passive MAVO E mounting adapter, the Active E Mount features electronic contacts that enable in-camera control of essential lens functions such as IRIS, focal length, focus, and image stabilization. This capability ensures sharper imagery and a more efficient workflow, making it an indispensable tool for professionals seeking precision and versatility.
Constructed from durable aluminum and stainless steel, the Active E Mount maintains a lightweight profile at just 127g, without compromising on robustness. Its compact design is perfect for on-the-go shooting, whether you're using a zoom lens or a heavier telephoto lens.
The adapter offers powerful electronic control features, including seamless IRIS adjustments. Users can rotate the camera knob to fine-tune the IRIS or set it to any stop in increments as small as 1/256 through in-camera adjustments. For focus length, the real-time focal length displays on the screen when using a manual focus lens, and the servo system allows for smooth zoom control via camera buttons.
Focus control is equally intuitive. In AF mode, the camera supports focus adjustments through its buttons, while in AF/MF mode, focusing is easily achieved by rotating the lens focusing ring, with focus points clearly displayed on the monitor UI. Additionally, the anti-shake system enhances image stability, especially when shooting handheld or with a telephoto lens equipped with Optical Image Stabilization.
The Active E Mount also excels in metadata management. It displays real-time lens parameters on the monitoring screen, akin to using a cinema lens with Cooke/i protocol support. This feature allows users to monitor current aperture, focal length, and precise focus position, streamlining the shooting process.
Furthermore, the adapter automatically identifies lens models, reads metadata, and records it into the footage for in-camera playback or post-processing, simplifying workflow and boosting efficiency both on set and in post-production.
Designed with a secure locking connection, the Active E Mount attaches firmly to the camera body with four screws, ensuring reliability even when using an external focus follower. Its interchangeable design allows for easy installation without additional flange distance calibration, broadening the range of compatible lenses alongside the Active PL Mount and native KineMOUNT.
In summary, the Kinefinity Active E Mount Adapter is a lightweight yet robust solution that integrates complex electronic control systems, making it an ideal choice for professionals seeking agility and precision in their cinematic endeavors.
