Kino Flo FreeStyle 21 LED DMX Fixture Kit with Soft Case, 26.5x13x3.5" Panel, Universal Input

Kino Flo's award-winning FreeStyle 21 unleashes your creative side with a quick-release feature to remove the LED panel from the fixture, cutting the weight nearly in half (from 11.6 lbs/5.3kg to 7 lbs/3.2kg) and creating a smaller form factor for better rigging flexibility. The LED panel's corner bumpers can be used to hang from rope or wire. The panel also takes a Twist-On mount for working on light stands. The Freestyle 21 comes complete with the full color, programmable FreeStyle controller, Head Cable (25'), Complete Fixture with removable LED panel and a twist-on KinoGrip Center Mount. Honeycomb 90 deg. or 60 deg. louvers, mounted with hook and loop fastener, give direction to the light and when removed the panel displays a broad soft beam across the set.

The FreeStyle 21 is known for its >96 white light, full hue and saturation color, cinema gel choices and RGB chromatic selection via the AC/DC FreeStyle 150Watt controller. It has built-in Lumen Radio wireless DMX; no extra cost for wireless receiver accessories. The light can also be operated directly up to 50 feet away from the controller via Kino Flo head cables. The Freestyle's driver technology achieves bright, soft light with continuous dimming from 100% to 0% on a linear or square curve without flicker at higher camera speeds or at varied shutter angles. There is no light level change when shifting from 2500K to 9900K and the color doesn't change when the light levels rise or fall.

Color and luminosity remain stable over the rated life of the LED's using Kino Flo's advanced True Match daylight and tungsten color management system, which has been an unqualified success since the Kino Flo introduced the idea of soft panel True Match Celeb Studio LED's six years ago. Passive cooling keeps the LED's in good shape for a longer usable life than fixtures that require electric fans. In the Gels/Hue menu, the Kelvin range is extended to 2500K Kelvin to 9900K daylight and a fourth channel is called Gel.

The Gel channel includes Kino Flo presets such as blue & green screen, sodium vapor, mercury vapor as well as over 100 well-known lighting gels. The gel function can be applied to any Kelvin temperature and by pushing the control knob in/out, the gel will be applied or removed. A fifth channel called Hue Angle (Hue) and sixth channel Saturation (Sat) are also included in the gel menu. These two channels behave similar to a traditional color wheel, where white light is in the center and Hue Angle determines the color along a 360-degree range and Saturation determines how much color is applied. With the Hue Angle and Saturation it is possible to create over 2 million color combinations !

The RGB color menu gives individual control of red, green and blue LED's. The RGB mode is a great way to work with apps with predetermined RGB presets or color wheels. RGB menu is also a great feature to dial in specific gel RGB values or when controlling colors from a DMX desk. The FX (Effects) menu introduced on June 1, 2018 provides access to popular effects such as Candle, Fire, TV, Police, Lightning, Paparazzi, Pulse and Scroll. When on the desired effect, there are several pre-sets as well as control parameters that can be altered. For example, in the Lightning effect there is a "Storm" and "Frankenstein" preset, but it is possible to change Rate to provide additional variation.

The FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller
The firmware listed above is loaded onto the FreeStyle LED controller and can operate the Freestyle 21 fixture remotely with 25' extension cable or can drive the panel directly when mounted to the back of the fixture. The Freestyle controller (LED-151X), Includes standard DMX in/out ports for cable as well as wireless DMX connectivity (Lumen Radio). The controller features universal AC voltage input 100-240vac (1.25 Amps at 120vac) as well as a 3-Pin XLR for 24vdc operation (6.25A). Kino Flo's new FreeStyle LED's also come with standard DMX and wireless DMX (Lumen Radio), 24VDC input and universal voltage input 100-240VAC (1.25 Amps at 120VAC). The FreeStyle 151 LED DMX controller firmware is updatable from a PC using the Mini B data port.

FreeStyle 21 LED Fixture
The FreeStyle LED Fixture includes built-in barndoors and is comprised of a removable LED panel and Louver. The Louver is held in place with hook and loop fasteners. The LED panel can be removed from the fixture housing by pressing the locking pin and turning the thumbscrew. The fixture has a twist-on mating plate to accept a twist-on mount. The LED panel also has a twist-on mating plate to accept a removable twist-on mount and has molded corners for additional rigging options.

Long LED Life

As with all Kino Flo products, the FreeStyle LED has been specially formulated to match the spectral distribution curves of today's HD film and video equipment. The FreeStyle LED has a high color rendering index of CRI 95. Even while dimming, the fixture is flicker-free and without color shift.

Heat Management Design
For Kino Flo, heat management is a critical design element of fixture design. The physical heat or buildup heat within the LED fixture will directly influence the color temperature, lumen performance and life of an LED. The FreeStyle LED's unique design operates coolly, consumes very low energy (1.25A, 120VAC) and is properly ventilated to maintain a stable color temperature. A well maintained temperature extends the lumen maintenance, color temperature and life of an LED.
