When using the 5881 tube, you can expect warm, piano-like lows and crystal clean highs. Cranking up the volume will reward you with a fat, articulate natural tube overdrive. Alternatively, the EL34 tube delivers a firm, controlled low end with smooth mids and a silky top end. Increasing the gain will result in a singing sustain with a modest compression.

The Classic SE's built-in auto-bias circuit allows for easy tube exchange without the need for rebiasing the amp. The single Tone control, combined with three voicing switches (Mid-boost, Bass-cut & Gain-boost), and Gain and Volume control, let you create new sounds on the fly.

The speaker on/off switch allows for silent recording, while the power is sent to an internal dummy load. The Classic SE offers two power modes for added versatility. The Standby switch has three positions: Standby, Full-power, and Low-power. In Low-power mode, the amp delivers only one third of its nominal output power, allowing you to achieve full natural power amp distortion at a lower volume level.
