MOHAMED M : Will it fit the nikon 18-300mm lens?MICHAEL B : Sorry, this collar only fits the Nikon 300mm F4 lens and not the Nikon 18-300mm lens. Shopper : Can you use the Arca-Swiss plate with a Manfroto Ball head?K T : If you don't use an Arca-Swiss arrangement there is a mounting hole below which allows the attachment of whatever mounting plate came with your ball head etc. I did exactly that for my Sirui Ball Mount and it works perfectly. Best of LuckJOHN P : I'm not positive because I don't own any Manfrotto Ball Heads but I believe they use a different plate. I don't think the Arca Swiss style work on those heads.ANDREW R : Unfortunately no, it's not likely. For the most, Manfrotto equipment isn't normally Arca Swiss compatible.
Fred A : is this compatible with Manfrotto??JIM P : This collar has a standard 1/4" female thread. Buy the Manfrotto MA394 Quick Release (~$45), attach it to this collar, and you are in business. You can attach any plate that attaches with a 1/4" male screw, and thereby use on a variety of tripod systems.RUSS S : Does your Manfrotto have an Arca-Swiss type quick release clamp on the ball head? If yes, then it will work with your ball head. I have this Collar and use it on an Acratech ballhead and it works perfectly. Holds the 300mm rock steady.MATTHEW C : Not sure. What Nikon Should Supply as Stock

As with all Kirk products this collar is absolutely first rate. Machining is spot on ans solid as a rock, fixing the glaring flaw in the 300 F4 AFS collar design. Easy to install and retains all functionality. Highly recommended.

A Must Have for the Nikkor 300mm f/4D AF-S

Extremely well designed 'cradle' (ie two saddles) design that holds the Nikkor 300mm f/4D Rock Steady. Something that was impossible to do for the stock Nikon mount (which I can flex between on thumb and forefinger indicating no possibility of stabilizing the lens when mounted to Mono/Tri-Pod. The price may seem a bit steep but I assure you this is state of the art fabrication producing the last mount you'll ever need. Just budget for it and buy it with the lens if possible to save time or after the fact if the former isn't possible. I rate this mount 11 out of 10 stars ... Perfection!!

Very well made, worth the price.

Wonderful fit and also becomes a useful carry handle for the lens + body. Works much better than the stock on my ball head than the stock which can slip out.

This is a worthwhile upgrade

This is a worthwhile upgrade on 2 counts - sturdier collar and built-in Arca-Swiss adapter. It is a mystery to me why OEM cannot do something so simple for a $ lens.

This tripod collar from Kirk is a must have for sharp photos on a tripod with this lens. Nikon collar is not up to the task of supporting this lens steady. Very happy with my purchase of the Kirk nc 300 Lens collar.

Great product and made in the U.S.A.!

The mount is very well made and even when I hand hold the lens, it provides a solid resting place in my palm. It's easier to remove than the Nikon version. I purchsed this used from Adorama and frankly couldn't find any evidence of use. I like the fact that it incorporates the Arca-Swiss dovetail, although it can also use the standard 1/4 20 tripod tread.
