This is the only film I use when shooting portraits.

It works like any other 400 asa film. The super saturated color response brings a lot of expression out of the image without gaffing up the skin tones. If you are making record shots, it is not necessary. But if the green in the grass, the blue of the sky and the red of the roses are telling your story, this is excellent film to try.

I love Kodak film. The colors are great. Biggest problem now - can't find a reliable film developer that uses Kodak processing and Kodak paper.

I use this film primarily to shoot home interiors and landscapes. Need good detail, color and balance with moderate speed. This film performs well for these purposes with enlargements up to 11x14, sometimes 16x20.

I have loved 400UC since it first came out. At that time, big-box stores sold 3 rolls for what 2 costs today. That was before I bought my first digital camera. I got used to shooting 400UC nearly as a multi-purpose. For sporting events, holidays, vacations, and bright landscapes it was unbeatable. It was versatile and forgiving, and I loved the results. For anything short of portraits or weddings, I loved the super saturated color and even the way it balanced. Between it and 400CN (ironically B&W for indoor street photo type shots), I bought little else. After shooting almost entirely digital for 3 years, I started shooting some film again. I've come back to 400UC as my go-to for most stuff. It's a little harder to find, which is partly my fault (and others who left it). It's still an excellent choice for the stuff I do with it. I'm always pleased with how 400UC comes out. I've heard that it might soon be going away. I'm hopeful that there will be an Ektar 400 forthcoming (as Ektar 100 followed 100UC), but I'm afraid there isn't. I've heard suggestions of 400VC, which is good, but I do prefer the pop of UC. If I can afford to, I'll stock up on some of it soon.

Great color accuracy from this pro film, and like all film, no worries about white balance. Produces great scans, as well. My only complaint is that it seems a little grainy in solid colors and gradients, even for ISO 400. Adorama is one of few places that still sells this film online, and you can forget about finding it in a brick-and-mortar store.

This is the best 400 speed negative film Kodak (or anyone else) has ever made! Actually, one of the best negative films ever made, period. The colors are wonderful, the skin tones perfectly smooth and creamy, the dynamic range is a welcome relief from Digital, the 400 speedvery useful, and and grain as fine as 100 speed film. Great for enlargements - 8x12's with no visible grain, 11x14's with barely visible grain. In summary, this is one of the best films out there![...]

Every shot taken with this film exhibited flawless color - not that each shot was flawless - just the color!

Used 20 rolls on a trip to China and Pakistan, under varying light conditions. The colour was always rich and accurate, getting muddy only when I was shooting in very low light without flash. Multiple x-rays at border crossings caused no harm. I liked this film a lot. It made excellent enlargements and scans project beautifully.

I took this film to Europe and I was very pleased with the high, yet accurate color saturation. There is a a punch to the color and it has pleasing contrast. Very consistent. Grain good, but when taken past 8x10, there is not much more grain for enlargment.
