Questions & Answers

maiada h : please anser me , is this type of kodak film work on a transmission électron microscope?Sean B : Well most TEM microscopes give you the data via a screen, focal distance would play a important factor, you also have a objective aperture and intermediate lens, that will create more problems. Depending on that carrier system, much like an enlarger, this might fit, if you can accept roll film 135. Than any film would work, just depends on how you load it. The model of the device would help as well, best of luck.BRUCE W : Honestly, I have no idea, since I have never used a transmission electron microscope. Having said that, it is a light sensitive negative fim, so if the process involves light transmission it should work like any kind of film. If it does work, you may want to consider a less sensitive but finer grained film such as100 T-Max .
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?RICHARD P : 400 TMY is pricey but worth the money. The grain is right at rms 10 and the latitude (dynamic range) superb. A 16x20 from 4x5 is sharp, 3D, creamy, perfect and lovely, like an 8x10 from medium format. Yet the emulsion is robust and won't feather off at the edges during development like a certain other popular brand's film. I will greatly miss TMY 400 (and TMX 100) when production ceases.ALAN H : This film is hard to find. Glad I found it here.DARRIN W : It’s what I always useMARK C : Love this film and shoot a lot of it!MARC M : i have used various kodak films for 50 years this and polymax is the best comboJACK B : Great film!CHARLES F : Best 4x5 film there is !!

Rated 5 out of 5

Have tried several 4x5 films, but am gravitating to 400TMax or TMY

I have been using my 4x5 camera for about 5 years now, and as a retiree the last couple of years I get out with it a lot. In addition to this TMY I have tried TMX, TXP, Acros, and Ilford's Delta. I found Delta to be too contrasty, but really like the tones with the others mentioned. However, since I do a lot of landscape photography in National Parks, I find I often need the extra film speed of TMY and TXP (e.g., due to breeze in grass or trees), and I have been gravitating more and more to TMY because of its two-stop speed advantage, wider latitude (maintains control in highlights nicely) and nicer tones than either TMX or TXP. Based on my experience, I agree with the other review comments for this film. The only gripe that I've heard from other photographers is about price, but to me the incremental cost versus TMX, TXP and Acros does not seem much of a factor if you consider all the other costs of the LF hobby.

Perfect Film

Just about the perfect film for large format. Nice tonality, fine grain, sharp, consistent quality. The only thing I wish for is better reciprocity characteristics, and that is a minor nit because it really isn't bad, just not as good as Fuji Acros.
