Review Summary

I have been using my 4x5 camera for about 5 years now, and as a retiree the last couple of years I get out with it a lot. In addition to this TMY I have tried TMX, TXP, Acros, and Ilford's Delta. I found Delta to be too contrasty, but really like the tones with the others mentioned. However, since I do a lot of landscape photography in National Parks, I find I often need the extra film speed of TMY and TXP (e.g., due to breeze in grass or trees), and I have been gravitating more and more to TMY because of its two-stop speed advantage, wider latitude (maintains control in highlights nicely) and nicer tones than either TMX or TXP. Based on my experience, I agree with the other review comments for this film. The only gripe that I've heard from other photographers is about price, but to me the incremental cost versus TMX, TXP and Acros does not seem much of a factor if you consider all the other costs of the LF hobby.

IMO the best 400ISO T-Grain film ... Very fine grain, very good sharpness and very good tonal rendition.

Just about the perfect film for large format. Nice tonality, fine grain, sharp, consistent quality. The only thing I wish for is better reciprocity characteristics, and that is a minor nit because it really isn't bad, just not as good as Fuji Acros.

If I had only one film to use, this would be it. It has a good range and can be shot in various light conditions.
