Much better for outdoor/travel/landscapes than for portraits. Lush, saturated colors. Love it. I take fewer pictures than I would with a digital camera, but that's a good thing. I think more about each picture, loading film always gets comments from bystanders these days, and it's fun waiting until the film's processed to see what comes out. I do get CDs of scans when processing, that's just to email a few pics. A slide show looks better, and seems much more special to my friends, than clicking through pics on a computer.

Since the discontinuation of Kodachrome three years ago, I have shot a variety of emulsions trying to find an acceptable replacement. E100VS fits the bill; for 35mm landscape, wildlife and fine-art work there is, in my view, no better film currently on the market. The film is very sharp, scans well and, most importantly, the colors are rich and well-saturated without being garish. Kudos to Kodak!

I just shot my first roll with this film, and it did not disappoint. In fact, it made me an instant fan as soon as I looked at the photos. Colors with this film are absolutely dripping. I use an Olympus OM-1, and with my macro lens, the sharpness, rich colors, a tight smooth grain were unbeatable. I think this could also work well for urban photographs, and landscape work. I am very happy with this slide film, and I will try it again.

I have always used kodachrome and when it was fazed out after decades of use i gladly moved over to " VS " IT IS VERY CONSISTENT AND THE COLORS REALLY POP, especially in nature and landscape use. I've always preferred it over velvia.

Red points of light such as a traffic signal, tend to blossom.

I really like the way this film renders colors and fall is my favorite time to use it. I am lucky in that I have a local shop that still develops slides in house and access to a good scanner.

THE RICHEST COLOR SATURACTION FILM EVER. FUJICHROME VELVIA 100 IS SUPERB HOWEVER I CHOOSE E100VS FOR NOW. WHEN I GET NIKON DSLR THEN I WILL NOT REPLACE MY FAVORITE NIKON F5 AND F100/MB-15 BECAUSE I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE POWER OF COLOR FROM E100VS. IT TASTE SUPER SWEET LIKE CANDY WITH TOO MUCH SUGAR. :) DEEP SKY BLUE WITH AND WITHOUT CIRRUS CLOUDS IS MY DREAM BECAUSE I LOVE BLUE. DEAD ON!!!!

So far high stability in color (no fading yet), excellent film for general use

Kodak VS gives natural, accurate, vivid colors across the whole spectrum. It has a pleasing, "warm" color palette and does not oversaturate the primaries (RGB) like Velvia. Shadow detail is much better than Velvia. This film will produce landscapes that are both realistic and eye-popping. But it is generally considered too sharp and saturated for portraits.

Kodak 100VS is less contrasty than either either Fuji Velvia 50 (RVP) or Velvia 100 Professional (RVP 100), so is a better choice for mid-morning through mid-afternoon photography where high color saturation is required because shadows won't block up nearly as much as either Velvia. Also, I find the colors under harsh mid-day light softer and more like Pastels than either Velvia (although still plenty saturated). I've published images in magazines to 10" x 13" and 8" x 10" calendar images shot in either mid-morning or mid-afternoon using this film with either 35mm prime lenses or pro f/2.8 zooms when either Velvia would have been too contrasty. I'd give it 5 stars if it was as sharp and had the extremely fine grain structure of either Velvia, but obviously it has plenty of both for photojournalism work.

I used this mostly for nature/flower/landscape type photography, and preferred it to Velvia. Always seemed at least a little "calmer" compared to Velvia. When I was using it, there was no Velvia 100, so the extra stop was important at times too.
